I think I could make do with $250k given I need 1k a month. I would have to put $200k into some asset with 10% yearly profit like an index fund, and leave 50k in highly speculative assets like crypto that could still grow 10x or more.
It's not like I couldn't work again for a while if I had to, but it would be a great start on the path to retirement.
