1. STA is basically a utility and ecosystem token made for Balancer Pools (BP). 2. STA is a single token that can be found on any decentralized exchange, so you can instantly buy one token which represents the price action of four other tokens. Again, that in and of itself is valuable. Instead of buying Link, SNX, ETH, and BTC I just buy STA. Might you be paying a premium in buying STA rather than just the other 4 alone, possibly (we don’t know yet), but people pay “expense ratios” all the time for all kinds of financial instruments, so this wouldn’t be a deal breaker.

3. STA, by being in the index fund, makes the supply of the overall index fund go down, it is also much more nascent and small cap than the others. Which basically makes it a LEVERAGED bet on the other four tokens. It will go up more than the others if it all works out. Imagine if someone made a deflationary S&P 500 index, I don’t know what that would look like or what it would mean, but that’s a value proposition.

It's used for pooling with other cryptos. You have to put it in a liquidity pool for it to do anything other than be a burn token.

The problem with STA is that it isn't loved enough. Chainlink was always loved. STA is mostly hated on this board because of the dev scandal that happened a while back.

It took me a few weeks to get it so don't worry. But as the one anon here said once you get it you REALLY get it.

Essentially STA is inserted into a liquidity pool. The balancer keeps the liquidity pool in perfect balanced ratio. So if one of the tokens go up, it will sell that token to buy the others so that the growth is steady. So you believe in crypto to succeed then you believe in STA to grow. Also, everytime STA is involved in a transaction (sold/bought/ratio corrected by the balancer) it will burn 1% of that STA, creating deflation and more volume. Now if the demand remains the same or grows, price WILL increase due to deflation. Any of the balancing creates volume which creates more fees.

But what if STA dies and has no volume you say? It does not matter, because the Statera involved in the pool means that volume is also counted for everything else in the pool, so eth btc link snx. Do you really think these will have no volume?

As pool integrations grow, so do arbing opportunities creating more opportunities and more volume -> burn + fees. You could literally be the only one running the pool and get enormous returns. That's why many of the top wallets are buying more. Because if STA goes up in price, the APY from the pool will be absolutely insane. It's not a regular hold and sell.

Of course there is much more to this, but this is the basic idea.

Part of the philosophy of the project is that the developers themselves can only hold 4% of the supply of Statera, in order to keep it a more balanced and community driven projection and to allow it to prosper without being "controlled" by one person. No, balancer got hacked. There was a vulnerability about supply changing tokens (be it rebases or burns) that balancer was aware but balancer did nothing to fix. Hackers drained the balancer pool from the STA and the other coins (BTC SNX ETH LINK). Balancer proceeded to repay the poolers with their lost BTC SNX ETH LINK and statera team repaid the stolen STAs, even though they had nothing to do with the hack.
