like, i get that it lets you draw insights across lots of different data sources. but how specifically, and why is this difficult for other companies to do?

This rabbit hole is too deep. Basically they scrape all known data sets and buy private sets from health care providers then use that to predict the future. Everything from credit card purchases to gps locations. Driving speed. Porn searches every trade in Wall Street. They just need all the data no matter what. Then they look for “abstract triggers” and sell that data for better trading insights. An “abstract trigger” may be every time you buy a snickers bar exactly x amount of Nike shares get sold. Weird stuff.

They do it with proprietary algorithms/mathematics. It is difficult for other companies to do because it is literally cutting edge proprietary knowledge developed by highly paid geniuses. Your question is like asking "Why didn't Japan just make a nuke and nuke the US first?"

>> No.23818140

>>23818071
It takes many different data forms (communications data, communications metadata, internet data, market data, weather data, etc etc) and processes it using proprietary techniques.

For example, say the tech is used for catching criminals. It would analyze all communication being done in a city (and larger area likely based on individuals' communications) and scan all language used, patterns of motion, etc to determine people that are most likely to engage in general crimes or the ones who were most likely to have committed a murder or something.

Just think of it as a task force of humans for example:

Those people are going to be assigned to peruse through as much data as possible, to learn the habits and tricks of criminals, and to ultimately find a way to arrest them.

Palantir is just software that does all of this on a much grander scale and in a much faster way than humans can in many cases. I imagine it will develop more and more if it has more and more successful implementations.

Wrong, you have the idea but it measures "metadata" not per se communication as that is illegal, and not feasible just yet, but collection over 5G will be easier, though we did go backwards highly because messenger, whatsapp, telegram are encrypted and not impervious to MITM but phone calls and text messages are.

lols why not

1. Revenue growth isn't an issue from what I've been exposed to. I'm not FPA/finance though.

2. Upsales, service contract and renewal make sense. Not sure about customer acquisition, but there isn't like a Sharepoint or org wide email saying we got someone new. At best maybe new emails in the address list, new jira section for epics and maybe slack channel.
3. Philosophy is working for whomever and discarding morals. Lots of people did quit and there's great conversation around what's right. Techstack, anything really, if you can breath and cobble together a loop and know basic algos, you can get in, especially if you're a minority.
4. Different human, same mission, who cares. Look at Obama's wars and Trump, did trump overnight stop them? No. More work planned as future work against USA threats are going to increase. Trump was liked because of his pacifist nation but no one understands its basically running a spreadsheet and asking why. Then again in tech, I'm generally pariah as I don't agree with the notion of bleeding heart and that minorities are kind. Ironic really as I'm considered a minority in the USA, but I'm all conservatism.
4. Saudis, probably, they are a US ally. Would make sense, I don't know - I work on other stuff that isn't exported.

I see men doing crazy things, new inventions, new models, new paradigms. From the programmer to the sculptor, men always creates greatness, always creates things with purpose, which pushes humanity ahead of the animal condition.
But when I look at women, they dont create anything. Its only whoring, whoring, and more whoring. If anything, they pushes humanity back to the animal condition, so they are a deterrent.
So, why are women still around? Why men still didnt create clones, or robots, or even virtual devices, to replace them?

Really hard to write a good reply, everything I want to say I shouldn't.
1. Data assurance.
2. Employees are USA only for the fun stuff.
3. Competent staff aren't compensated enough in public sector, or probably have habits that aren't befitting of public sector.
4. Lots of public sector tech engineering staff are idiots, can't code. Anyone that can code can get a 6 figure job instantly and that is lagging in federal work.
5. Support contracts, continued roll out and general we built the product, who else can you hire? Vendor lock in.
6. Work pays for itself in reduction of staff, or showing proof that the goal was met, money saved, lets re-invest it back into us because we know what we're doing and we make you look good.

There's more, of course, but, unless you find me in a bar wanting to impress you, I probably won't reveal.
Now if you do ask me something really interesting, and the only way I could reply is by just being interesting, that could work.
