Been trying to sign up for Coinbase and GDAX all day, but the website crashed on me while I was verifying my ID and now it tells me I have to wait 24 hours to re-try. I was day trading ETH when it was 80 dollars a piece and at one point had 5, but sold them to fuck arround with ripple and litecoin.

I've made great gains from fucking with both, but when people say that ETH and BTC are head long term holds they mean it. both ETH and BTC are the current industry standard, and have HUGE amounts of faith in them, and their projected growth/ speculation. Half the exchanges base their entire market on BTC.

Think about it. A dollar is only a piece of paper, but it has value because people have faith in the government that sponsors it. People have Faith in BTC (for whatever reason, this is up for debate im sure) but it isn't going to crash untill something overtakes it(ETH maybe)

You need to put whatever money you can into ETH and just hold it. Through the dips and dives, hold it. it will always recover and always go up because people have faith.
