Normal flu vaccine is <40% effective any given year (8% effective for my age group) and flu vaccines have been developed for almost 100 years.
When AIDS happened everyone promised a vaccine, but that never came. What happened though was therapeutics and treatments advanced greatly to the point that having HIV now vs HIV then is like not even having it at all if you have treatment.

No covid vaccine doesn't mean lockdown forever. We are already have an order of magnitude better treatment than when we started this whole thing, and it will only get better. I don't get why Trump hasn't been pushing this angle, because it would help him so much.
