Under serious scrutiny, it seems unlikely that CW is a fraud:
1. Anderson claims he signed a transaction of satoshi in front of him and the signatures match.
2. And. also said he was convinced by his manner of speaking, knowledge of the protocol and general attitude.
3. A lie of this magnitude would completely tarnish his reputation, and it seems that one existed before the satoshi ordeal. seems unlikely for a reputable person to blatantly lie about something as big as this.

All in all I think it is more likely that he is Sat than not. His character and likeability are of no relevance to the matter

Segwit coin isnt Bitcoin

>> No.23641885

>>23641751
how could they mess that image up so bad?
the script hash validates the sigscript that contains the signature and it's part of the transaction. all segwit does is move the actual sigscript outside the main block to an extension block and for a block to be valid on segwit ruleset the sigscript must be valid all the same like with a regular transaction.
only bitcoin clients not updated since 2016 would not validate segwit signatures. and those don't really exist.

>> No.23642245

>>23641751
i don't even know how to begin to fix this graph... it's just fucked.
you literally don't hash Alice's pubkey into the output but the next SH (it's a p2sh address after all) and the next SH validates Alice's sigscript which in turn validates Alice's signature.
and spends don't reference transactions they reference utxos...
it's just fucked... they oversimplified it to the point where it's just a big lie.

What does SegWit Do?
Under the proposed system of Segregated Witness, an extended block must be created alongside the main block. This extended block would contain the signature data of the transaction. The system proposes that the main block is divided into two, one with just the signature data, and the other with just the record of the occurrence of the transaction.
This would substantially reduce the space occupied per transaction in the main block and would enable the recording of a greater number of transactions without piling up more and more blocks frequently. This would also reduce the weight per block in the blockchain of transactions, which in turn would reduce congestion and ensure that the network does not slow down. Thus, transactions could be verified much quicker than they are being currently.

sure but just because you don1t need to verify signatures of a confirmed transaction doesn't mean that you don't need to verify signatures for accepting a new block as valid.

totally different things we talking about.
once the block under the nakamoto consensus is confirmed there is no reason to assume any signature data is invalid in the past.

that's not possible and also unworkable nonsense.
signatures are the cornerstone of crypto. nothing works without them. not segwit not lightning not any sidechain nothing.
how and how long you store them is a different matter.

maybe he mant that we can delete segwit extension blocks for old blocks which is actually correct.

there is no reason to hang on to that dead weight. if you believe in proof of work and the nakamoto consensus then you don't need to verify any signatures on a block n deep confirmed.

>> No.23644906

>>23644837
Sure ok. Technically all you need is the UTXOs for a block deep enough that there is no chance of reorg. Why delete only the segwit parts? I haven't been keeping up with development in BTC

>> No.23644982

>>23644906
>Why delete only the segwit parts?
the idea is to eventually compress the bitcoin blockchain burden to a few gigabytes.

but to do this one thing has to be solved and that involves changing the consensus algo which is always problematic.

if you could include the previous canonically ordered utxo set digest in the bitcoin blocks and altered consensus algo to enforce it's validity, then you could in theory completely discard old blocks not just old signatures and people would still be able to trustlessly sync up with the chain and each other. because no one would accept an utxoset that a valid block does not reference.

the current practice of syncing up from the genesis block is retarded beyond all things time and resource consuming too.

Bitcoin shitcoin version is fucking gay. I want to like bitcoin, the, real bitcoin with ticker BTC, but looking back I only ever bought shitcoins and dollars with it. For actually buying stuff online litecoin has always been my go to. I sold my BSV for more BTC, same with BCH. Buying fake bitcoin is even dumber than buying an eth killer or a cryptocurrency coin. Only done by people who have no clue what is going on in the space.

New miners could still sync and reconstruct the UTXO set, as opposed to having to add some new structure. They just wouldn't be able to tell which keys signed for some of the early transfers
