To write covered calls, you need 100 shares of the underlying. So roughly $80 * 100 = $8000. You can write puts for less, by having whatever your strike is *100 in cash. I sell covered calls on the SOXL every month then use the premium to buy LEAPS on either SPXL or TQQQ then sell a diagonal on that and use that premium to buy FNGU. It's been working remarkably well lately. The big dip comes I'll sell out when SOXX dives under the 200 daily then start selling puts until the next rise. Wash rinse repeat to many millions. You can always just do calendar spreads. Buy some LEAPs and then sell calls weekly to collect prems, and you're safe from moonshots on the short leg. Can do the reverse with puts. Though if the stock goes the other way you'll get yourself into a slight mess.
