The only thing that will maintain value is the sealed boxes, this isn't like abu magic cards where no one knew what tcgs were so they didn't print any, they did 8 print runs, in multiple languages of the original base set. What makes you think prices will normalize like this because influencers decided to jump in for pack pulling content, that's like saying BTC is going to moon because Katy Perry posted on insta about it. Like a year ago nobody wanted anything to do with Pokemon cards so none of this growth is organic. The comparison to crypto is retarded

They need someone to buy the top now. In the PSA pricing you can't even do the "economy" card valuations. The website stopped offering the service because its apparent too many people sent in too many cards. No one is buying. Go look at how saturated some of the graded cards are on Ebay. That was the real money not buying something already graded and holding it hoping to sell it to another speculator later.

>>23363272
You are a faggot. There are 5-10x potential at least in crypto nearly every week with better liquidity and less hassle.

>> No.23363629

Sorry but the price appreciation people see in most cards is simply inflation, ie. >buy something when child for $5 in 2005 >forget about it for a long time. >Omg it's $30 in 2020!! Pretty much all that gain is inflation, even the best cards out there lose to simply having the money in a stock market.
>>23363390
Beautiful. It's a shame cards these days are so boring instead of having 52 unique designs per pack.

>> No.23363656

>>23363597
What are you talking about? We have been seeing new record highs for PSA cards every day.

Yes there are 5-10x potential...with altcoins. You have to actually know shit about crypto for that shit; it's like speculating on modern cards (which see highly volatile movement similar to altcoins). For the stuff that anyone can invest in without knowing anything (i.e; vintage cards and BTC/ETH), cards win, hands down.

You're an idiot. TCG cards being pricey is not rare at all and scalpers have always been the scum of the TCG scene.

After you imbeciles crash the card market by hoarding packs trying to pull off rare cards TCG companies will simply reprint those cards as common like they've done a thousand times. It's better for them to have a momentarily dip in the TCG market than having no players at all because hoarders are taking all the cards for themselves.

This without mentioning that the collector's market is a house of cards. As soon as collectors can't pay anymore the prices fall down hard, and when they do they won't climb up again.

This is a fad, like baseball cards, beanie babies, funko pops and other stupid mass produced shit with no historical, functional or artistic value.
The only thing it is good for is very short term speculation.

This is the same as buying meme coins or forks of coins, the value is in people like you FOMOing. When the momentum stops, everything is going to crash.

selling cards fucking sucks unless you have old rare shit already or are lucky enough to come across some rare shit at a garage sale for cheap but lets be real, that shit will never happen

what actually happens is you buy the new boxes hoping to get a few key cards that are popular in the meta of the game you are playing with, then you sell them individually and either sell lots or fill card list requests for websites like tcgcore. If youre really retarded you sell them for $0.01 ea. to a card shop.

but heres the reality of it, over time you will basically break even or lose money. You will never get enough of those meta cards you are looking for to make a profit and the amount of time it will take to sell the filler as lots or filling card lists will take you so long youd be better off doing literally anything else with your time. Even a part time job at McDonalds would be more lucrative. Also let me add that ebay customers are fucking scumbags and will try to leverage a bad review to blackmail you.

I used to sell card and help a friend sell cards. It just isnt profitable and you will 100% call one of your mouthy customers a faggot before its over

It's not like YGO or Magic in which companies expect the majority of the playerbase to be young adults and teens, The Pokémon Company expects most of the players to be children 7-14. The guy creating these threads was into cards long before this bubble. I was in cards long before this bubble. The only people in this thread "getting into it" are digging out their childhood shit collections. The real people looking at pokemon now are idiots with too much money or trust fund kids that like to show off on instagram. I mean this unironically, there are plenty of pictures of people with $25k pokemon cards flexing their rolex and BMW in the background, lol
