there is a link in pasta on every post that teaches you how to pan like a pro. Also all you have to do is ask permission to pan, go on local facebook and ask, someone will let you. If that fails pan the road culverts, they dont belong to the claim holder, the belong to the road. In my humble opinion panning is funner and easier to learn. Its also less expensive than buying a 300-500 dollar detector.

its a different form of mining, similar to the old style "stoping" that was used in the 1900s up to the 1950s. It uses a rail setup to bring a platform up to the working face where men can work, instead of having to bring in timbering and serious labor to build wooden stopes and stability structures. Its rarely used though, its complicated equipment that takes time to get used to.

the nicer ones in that pic I bought. They usually come out of the ground trashed, but they're so rare the condition doesn't matter much.

the oldest one in that pic is about 1870.
most of them are 1900-1915. Pre-prohibition stuff. A fair number are from the late 1800's though. The age doesn't mean much for price. The valuable ones aren't necessarily older, just from ghost towns with relatively few tokens known. The best ones in that pic have a known census of 1 or maybe 2 examples.

Case in point: this week my silver spending allotment has to go to fix my car :(

its partially due to a guy called Murry Pezzum, he was a mining magnate back in the 70s and 80s. Vancouver used to have its own stock exchange and it was very welcoming to junior mining / exploration companies. When Murry Pez setup shop in Vancouver with his property that would become Eskay gold mine in the Golden Triangle every other company followed and setup nearby. It waxed and waned but Vancouvers rep as Mining Capital of the World is back with a vengeance. Over 400 juniors alone are based there.

>Lots of coins too.
I always get irritated when I find coins since they're usually worthless compared to a good token. Your Rossland tokens might be valuable.

I've posted this pic before, but this is most of the silver I've found over 35 years of detecting. It's not a lot. I find a lot more nickels and pennies. Tokens are cool because people just threw them in the trash, unlike money. So they're pretty easy to locate.

Nah, I've only detected that area once in my life, and I didn't find any tokens. I think I detected in the ghost town of Alta when I was a kid. A really cool spot but no tokens.

I don't usually need permission. Here's what I do:
find a ghost town. They all had roads running through them. By Colorado law it's illegal to close a road over 100 years old in most cases. So they generally still have roads going through them. Now a lot of those roads are owned by the Forest Service, and it's illegal to detect those. Also the FS patrols and tickets for detecting illegally.
So I look for ghost towns that have county roads running through them. So it's usually illegal to detect on county property, but I've never found a county in CO that actually cares if you detect the road. And the road is where most of the coins and tokens got dropped. So I find a ghost town with a dirt road owned by the county and I look up how wide the easement is for that road. Then I find out where the old saloons and whorehouses were using business directories and old newspaper articles and tax records. Then I canvas the county road and shoulder to the width of the easement. It's paid off incredibly well, most detectorists skip the roads because anything in a dirt road gets beat to shit. But that's exactly where all the money and tokes were dropped. In the freakin road or on the shoulder.

So that's it. Sometimes I'll hunt down a landowner in a ghost town and ask to detect, but not often since they want a share of what I find and I prefer not to sell my best stuff.

Australia has no industrial diversity, our economy is based entirely on coal, iron ore, gold, copper and a housing ponzi scheme. All of these things are now going down the toilet thanks to zero immigration, China being pissed off with us and looking elsewhere for minerals, our central bank printing a couple of hundred billion dollars (nothing compared to US but we're tiny comparatively) and one of our two major cities being completely locked down for 7 months. That's good at least! Sorry about the lack of luck but with the long history and popularity of sterling over there I'm sure you'll find something eventually. Ebay may enjoy more engagement here than in the UK, and the USA is a big historically prosperous country so there are countless attics and basements for old sterling to be found tucked away in then put up for sale.

In the past I've put links here to good UK scrap deals for UK scrappers but not worth it with pricey registered international shipping to me and will continue sharing such listings when I come across more.

Dunno if you've ever heard of the Victorian era "sewer toshers" who collected coins and jewelry and scrap that fell down the drains under London and collected together much like heavy gold in the bottom on Pan Man's sluice in the cracks between bricks in the drain channel.

Shit sewers are obviously no-go but I've sifted the gravel below rain storm sewer outflows and hiked deep inside others and picked up lots of old coins, silver, and a good bit of old gold jewelry as well with just a flashlight and sieve to screen out sand and gravel scooped from the channel. Shake out the sand and leave behind coins and goodies to fill one's pockets with, it's awesome.

It's my absolute favorite way to treasure hunt, I've metal detected for 25 years and nothing beats a good old storm drain sewer, I'm completely serious. Sharing valuable secrets
here with you guys, most people have no idea how easy it is to find PMs in (under) any town for free. If PMs moon I'm serious about traveling the nation mining out sewers, they are completely loaded and very rich if you know where inside sewers to locate the literal paystreaks of concentrated water-sorted metals including the silver and gold items.

Makes me feel like a white-trash Indiana Jones, lel.

Take a good look at picrel, then imagine the bustle of any town's old Main street business district back in the 1950s or 1920s.

People fumbled shit and lost it down sewers all the time. A shiny silver half dollar wouldn't stay there long glinting in the street but if the bastard rolled down the drain there wasn't much to be done about it. Big rainstorms would push coins and rings into the main channel where items of similar density settle and collect together, where you can focus mining effort for maximum productivity.

Yep Burgerland. I've looked but not had much luck trying to find maps online. I just scan riversides and creek banks when driving or hiking around, the storm drain outflows are pretty noticable and ratty old ones (old drains = old silver/gold) are always worth a close look.

Awesome please do!

Try thinking like Pan Man, how and where would the heavies fall out of the water flow and pile up? What visual clues do you look for? Lots of variables, but if you come across a "gravel bar" where the upstream head is composed of big chunks of iron, bolts, lead tire wheel weights etc. that is also where you will find the copper and clad, silver and gold. Bubbly shitty decomposing Zinc pennies are lighter and you often start seeing them settle out just downstream of where the better heavier metals fall out.

Also, always study the cracks/joints between pipe sections or bricks, dunno how many times I've seen the shiny silver edge of an old dime inviting me to dig it out (bring at least a flathead screwdriver too).

A swap is an agreement between two parties to exchange sequences of cash flows for a set period of time. Usually, at the time the contract is initiated, at least one of these series of cash flows is determined by a random or uncertain variable, such as an interest rate, foreign exchange rate, equity price or commodity price.

Yeah that seems to be the case, would be spooky enough if things were "normal" but in the Pandora's box of buttfuckery that is 2020 I'm expecting some excitement, maybe this will precipitate the end of the calm "eye of the storm" phase and renewal and magnification of the chaos of March/April. Another quick scrapping lesson:

Picrel is a typical "bread and butter" scrap deal worth $50 spot, nothing special about it but it's instructive. The listing has good pictures of the sterling stamp and even the weight of 2.4oz was given in description.

Unless specifically stated, always assume ounces are in avoirdupois, and if you ever come across any similar listing but without a weight given, you can quickly search eBay for the same item, "sterling spanish lace serving fork" in this case, then locate a better more informative listing where the weight is given like this one (this seller's listings are a trove of info I've banked thanks to them):

https://www.ebay.com/itm/363033353022

So even if the one I bought didn't have the weight stated, you can figure out very quickly what they do weigh. The more informative listing states 2.2ozt, so 68-69 grams for all spanish lace serving forks of the same type. If you have a buy/pass price point of $0.50/g, it is an instant decision that such a fork will be added to the scrap pile.

Aaaand just grabbed this, a better example of how having the style or model number is sufficient even if no weight is given, as in this case.

I've handled Gorham 951 cordials before and thus know instantly they weigh ~22g each (and you can find that info in seconds just by searching "gorham 951 cordial" and reading a better description) so while a bit over .50/g, these little guys are sweet and I like adding nice non-monogrammed non-weighted different cordials I find to the Viking treasure hoard. I already knew I was buying it before the page loaded, didn't need to look at or read anything which is helpful when competition is fierce and seconds matter.

Since they are antiques for keeping or future gifting and not for refining, the total cost of $72.35 is acceptable with melt value just ~$94.00, and I try to keep such splurges averaged and offset by excellent deals for refining.

As Ron Paul says, your social policies and your economic policies are inseparable. You can't enforce the totalitarian social policies of Nazi Germany unless you first take away the people's gold, so as to have absolute power over them via inflationary confiscation. To take one example of this, how would you indoctrinate children into the Nazi ideology without government schools? The sole reason why we can have socialist welfare states in the modern era is because our currencies are unbacked by gold. Gold means freedom, both political and economic.

I presume, also, that even the Nazis here who approve of persecuting minorities are completely unaware of other deeply immoral social programs in Nazi Germany, like the Lebensborn program.

I bet you've found a pile of dog tags yourself thinking you were digging a token signal, some can be quite interesting and attractive but ghost town saloon tokens are cooler, that's an interesting focus and the prospect of scouring an old townsite and finding unlisted unknown tokens would be very exciting. yeah, that was an amazing shovel full of dirt. One of those tokens is pretty common - 10 known - I sold it for $180 to the family that owns the land. Their great grandpa owned the saloon I was detecting around so they loved getting one of his old tokens. The other was only 1 known, that was the second of the type found. I still have that one in my collection.

I haven't found any dog licenses because most those ghost town residents didn't seem to pay pet taxes. Most the towns I detect didn't even have a local government that issued dog tags. They're worth a surprising amount like you say. I've seen quite a few sell for over $100. I usually find miner's brass, aka miner's dog tags. The brass tags they wore underground to ID bodies or tell quickly who was underground and make sure everyone came back out. Those are also worth over $100 for something that says the name of the mine on it.

I've found and kept about $30k worth of old saloon tokens over the years. I've sold about the same amount. But I also buy and flip tokens on ebay so my collection and whatever inventory I have on hand for sale is usually worth north of $50k. Currently it's insured for $75k, I've been buying up tokens from a couple big collectors that died of the coof. I'll resell most of what I have though once those collections are done dumping. I make a few thousand a year just flipping old saloon tokens on ebay. Mostly just because I know what's been found and what's rare and can easily spot a deal. Pic related is a couple thousand in tokens I got in the mail yesterday. Only one is really /pmg/ related, that 1891 Denver Silver coin.

I am a gold and silver memer but I think QE is actually deflationary. It derisks speculative assets compared to productive assets so all that happens is that you POOMP bubbles in things like stocks while the economy languishes. That causes an extreme wealth disparity that eventually blows up into something big. I like gold and silver as a hedge against those kinds of concerns. I don't think the Fed can actually cause the inflation it "wants" to.
This is also why I think no country in history has ever escaped the quick sand of QE. It is undertaken to "create" inflation but it just makes the deflation problem worse.

buy 50oz for £1200 right now from europe at £24/oz. sell 25oz at £29/oz in January which will still be cheaper than anywhere else in the UK (obviously at current spot price) for £725. come January you will have 25oz for £475 tax free at £19/oz. Or you could buy 5 now for £30.36/oz (bullionbypost). It's a no brainer anon, exploit it while you can

The Federal Reserve’s FedNow service, which is currently being built, will be an around-the-clock
service whereby payments can be originated, cleared, and settled within seconds. The service is expected to provide clear public benefits in the form of safety, efficiency, and accessibility of instant payments.

>Our goal is to bring FedNow to market as soon as practicably possible. The target release date remains 2023 or 2024, but we will announce a more specific time frame once additional work is completed.

"Racist" and "sexist" are meaningless buzzwords. Doctrines of racial inferiority in America were an excuse to justify slavery, and large parts of America rejected both them and slavery--namely the free states, starting with Pennsylvania in 1780. America also had a strong history of supporting the education of women. It wasn't a totalitarian dictatorship like Nazi Germany. If you didn't like your state, you could flee to another one. If you didn't like your school, you could set up your own. If you disagreed with prevailing doctrines, you had the free speech to speak against them. Nazi Germany was a totalitarian eugenicist nightmare where, if you disagreed with Hitler, you simply died.

I'd say that giving absolute power to dictators who start wars and get tens of millions of young men killed is very dysgenic. And even if Hitler had never started a war, all that a eugenics program would create is a race of heartless brutes. The only dysgenic effects in our society derive from socialism and the welfare state.

I wonder what the push back will be like for this in more rural communities. Even with the rural / urban divide the way it is people in urban centers still understand that things like internet and phone service isnt great in every place. A fedcoin would be utterly useless in communities with spotty cell and internet.

>> No.23340236

no big deal, the US has amazing cell and internet coverage. The few people that live in places that aren't covered are already used to driving into town to do business.

the bigger problem is most americans engage in some cash crime, usually tax evasion. So this will bankrupt an extraordinary number of US citizens and businesses that have never paid their full taxes.

Pretty sure that Britannia's are a good Gold colour and since they will keep them in their 999.99 purity for the foreseeable future, I highly doubt they will come out copper coloured. You may be mistaking these with Sovereigns which are essentially 22ct. Gold which are now alloyed with Copper for its strength.

I am making my own set of rare, limited edition, NFT’s which will be distributed to the people in my channel. The use case of these NFT’s will be announced once they have had a few weeks to become more distributed (I will give away 6 NFT’s per week). If you are lucky enough to win one of these rare NFT’s I might suggest not selling them cheap, or you may find that you seriously regret it once I announce what makes them so valuable.

Next week’s call is going to be an ultra-low cap coin with STRONG pumpamemtals!! I'm predicitng a MASSIVE pump.
