I was just wondering because I was watching a video about war nickels, and the guy said that war nickels would be a good way to weigh down a safe instead of using steel since steel would only go down in value. Well the European banks are stocking gold and equalizing gold holdings between them all. They seem to believe its a way to get off the USD leash. And you don't sit on miners for commodities you spend a decade shorting via derivatives.

Debt trap is locked in now. The dollar must die, and whatever replaces it will have to be backed by something real.

i've bought from these places. all good. no problems

you should shop around and compare prices and whats available at different sites.
buy what you like but just go for lowest premiums as a general rule

bars, rounds, dont matter its all bullion. if you start to accumulate a large stack, eventually ease and convenience of storage becomes a factor in what size/shape you want.
for example, i find that my 5oz rounds are not a convenient size and shape for my storage situation
for me i favor, 1 oz rounds, 1oz bars, 10oz bars, or kilo bars. but thats just me

Met a guy at my local flea market who was selling Mercs for $1.80, Washington Quarters for $5, and Kennedys and Franklins for $10.

He was cool as hell and was willing to throw in a couple extra Mercs and Quarters for bigger purchases. I showed him some of my Proof rounds and hes cool with trading ounce for ounce and I'll throw him a sligut premium for the trouble. I am looking to trade down from meme mint Proofs to fractional and dealing with him I have no problem with shipping or premiums. Pretty comfy DESU.

Thats exactly my reasoning. Thats why Im very happy I found a LCS who will trade OZ for OZ with my meme Mint Proof rounds.

I have 1Toz rounds that he will trade me for 6 Washington Quarters or 3 Franklin or Kennedy Half Dollars or 14 Mercs or Roosevelts.

I just throw him $5 bucks on top of the Oz for Oz value and hes fine with it. 3 Kennedy's or 6 Washingtons come out to 1.08 Oz, so Im already ahead, but since Im giving him meme Mint rounds, he can bump the price, plus I throw him an extra $10, $20, depending on how much we trade.

Either way, we both make out. I dont have to pay shipping and premiums, and he can mark up the meme Proof Rounds.

Its win win.

Mining comes back into this during the mooning phase once people wake up to the fact that the world reserves are decreasing unless a new mining tech boom happens. This is due to the fact that silver is consumed a lot more in the industrial revolution than gold, and every electronic is made out of silver. The switch to green energy means 40-60% more consumption of silver on top of 1-3 years of slowly decreasing yield of silver output leads to miners skyrocketing 6months to 2 years after silver starts to moon as everyone in the automation and tech industry scrambles to get 1 more oz of silver more than their competitor.

There a few geo technical services using AI to predict ore deposits based on previous exploration data but the results have been... less than stellar. There was a Vancouver based junior claiming to have discovered a major Ag / Au resource in the Golden Triangle with AI but they went bankrupt two years ago due to fraud. I am sure the tech will be used more and more in the future, but for now prospecting seems to still be a realm humans do better.

not sure, Barkerville has until recently held them down due to the market not wanting anything to do with the project. The previous management under Frank Callahan made the place a complete shit show composed of yes men, fraud and failure. Osisko has turned that around, and now that all the drill results from 4 years ago have been double checked and new drilling has produced stellar results it could moon when the mine is actually announced to be in production. There are things holding the project up, the town of Wells BC for one is not at all thrilled with the way BGM is working with them. There are also environmental and historical concessions to be addressed with the project being right next to a major provincial heritage site. We will see if BGM and Osisko can pull this off, I ve waited nearly 10 years for this project to prosper and its finally showing results.

Things werent getting done, or only half assed. Staff morale was crap, and bills werent getting paid. Today though there totally different. >cryptobois do not realize fed is using them to justify fedcoin and elimination of all crypto

Yeah, overall the crypto space seems like a busy bustling slum city that popped up overnight and can be just as easily bulldozed or manipulated and FUDded out of relevant existence. Crypto exchanges getting shut down because 99% of transactions were fraudulent implies to me that the prices are rigged much like paper metals prices, but in a realm where due to the nature of crypto the holdings you possess are the same commodity that is being controlled and manipulated by governments and international networks. If they stop pumping and start dumping they truly can destroy whatever collective imaginary value the cryptos formerly held.

We here obviously understand the difference between a paper or digital promise that is 100% counterparty risk, and cold hard money that has always held true when all else failed.

Bits and bytes in a digital wallet that you can't even "open" without a functional GUI and powered up screen are the tulips of the modern age. I think we all here instinctively feel the subsonic tremors rippling around the world and even though we may not have perfect clarity of comprehension of what exact horrors the future will bring we know in our bones that the only way to make it through is to hold and stack what has always been real and true.

Yes agreed, but maybe at least broader mining, agricultural and energy sector commodities and stocks could be discussed intelligently. Questions about Uranium here in /pmg/ sometimes get addressed but maybe a sister /commodities general/ should be nurtured as more targeted discussion about foodstuffs, base metals and energy would be helpful.

We could have /commodities/ generals and /self/ for self improvement related to finance for example.

LOL no kidding, I've always found the argument about using up so much electricity to mine being "proof of work" or value or whatever to be fucking retarded.

Just because one can spend electricity operating an auto-buttplugging machine or a brony can invest 80 hours into drowning a doll in rancid spooge doesn't mean that the fruit of such actives are now imbued with value.

I'm not a retard so won't be playing that game, IDGAF if some Pajeets get lucky and actually pull profit because it's all going down sooner or later and I don't want to be anywhere near the scene when cryptos shit themselves. Stack high frens.

Okay, sorry for my tangent. Back to on topic subjects.
I hear some of you talk about how the United states could potentially go back to a silver standard, if they did, what do you think the weight of a silver dollar would be today? Before it was 25 grams approximately, would that still be appropriate?

Bro, those look fantastic. I wonder when we will have at spot deals. Also, I wonder when we will have silver shot/scrap at 30 cents over spot again so I can build up my collection to then make poured.

I think it might be 50 because of the fact that people will not want to trust the dollar again without big incentives.

That would be insane. I'd trust the dollar again even if they used the old dime measurements for it. Ultimately I don't think most of the world would have a choice. We would just Gaddafi them if they got too ambitious unfortunately.

i dunno if they'll ever be back, the price would have to stabilize for a while and none of us want that. i got 2 kilos of shavings at like 550$ each and a forge to melt . now its entirely out of stock.

Do you guys recall that Russian guy starting a website? I just got the silver he was giving away in the mail.
Checking their weight and comparing the reichsmark to one of my own, they all seem legit.
I recieved the originally promised 2 Reichsmark, which is in very good condition, along with an extra 20 kopek coin and a 0.625 gram vodka token.
Thus I can vouch for the Russian anon.
Thank you for doing your giveaway, sir.

Idk about that since the Brics system is ready once china expands it's sphere of influence, and russia will lean with it. The US will have a say in economics under paxamerica, but it will be a dual currency issue.

Because it's real money and some people like it in that form, bars are cool but they are a bit sterile in design usually. There's just something about old circulated coinage that you can't replicate with new bullion, even American gold eagles fall short of this, they are still awesome, but you can't replicate soul/history.

From a britbong perspective, genuine bonafidey minted coins are superior, as according to British laws and regulations they are considered a genuine form of currency and are thus exempted from Capital Gains Tax, which is the taxation based on the earned value of an item. i.e. an estate, land and things of that kind of nature. A 1oz gold Britannia is 999.9 whatever percent pure now anyways, so you're not losing out in comparison to an ingot which you would be charged capital gains tax upon.
It's different strokes for different folks.

Ah, I only ever see gold coins in the form of modern rounds. I can definitely understand the appeal of old coins, but if you're going for maximum value on your investment, bars are a no-brainer.

No, to actually go on a silver standard it would need to be revalued so much higher that at best we'd probably see something like the recent bimetallic silver-center Mexican coins (unironically the most based coins of this century, legit circulating silver coin is alpha AF, props Mexibros). If silver was set at say $600/Ozt then just a 1 gram center NeoDollar would be like a $20 coin and cents (or even mils) would be worth picking up off the ground again.

I am getting real tired of this meme. You get the same amount of gold from a 1oz coin as you get from a 1oz bar. The coins are 1.01 oz and contain copper and silver IN ADDITION to the 1oz worth of gold. It is not a 1oz coin diluted with 0.01oz of other metals to leave you with 0.99oz of gold.
