>> No.22939597

are people still claiming that RSR is illegal? something not being technically legal and fully approved isn't the same as it being totally illegal, you understand this right anons? RSR is in a legal grey area because there's no regulatory classification for it yet, they haven't gone through the process yet because they want to make sure that RSV is fully implemented in these foreign countries before they bring attention to the project and since RSV isn't yet decentralized it would risk putting RSR in the category of a security. in order to avoid and mitigate this risk they haven't actually tried getting RSR whitelisted yet this is what Coinbase will eventually help them accomplish once the RSV app is fully implemented and on-chain since Coinbase will benefit greatly from having RSV on ramping capabilities in typically inaccessible regions. the goal is RSV app then RSR implementation, in that order and this will happen before any technical "mainnet" is even announced because they need RSV to have a use-case before RSR can help with arbitrage pegging.

i wouldn't say it's impossible, but it depends on what he means by a double digit percentage of coins. if he's talking about a double digit percentage of the total supply that's a big difference from a double digit percentage of the current circulating supply.

there's actually a good argument to make that we can see a few billion tokens burning in less than a year after mainnet but that all depends on rsv volatility/velocity and marketcap.

people still don't understand how arbitrage will work, they think it all has to do with marketcap but it's actually more to do with the velocity between fiat and rsv and the number of users actively moving rsv around. this means that as people use the app and trade rsv on exchanges it produces slight variance in price which can be captured by arbitrageurs each time the price moves above the $1 peg using rsr and whenever it goes under the $1 peg using other assets. people will make money from rsv in both directions it just depends on what asset you want to use to buy / sell rsv and which arbitrage style you prefer. obviously using rsr is more profitable as this burns supply and drives up the demand for rsr over time but the main asset that matters in all of this is rsv itself and whether or not there is a demand for a decentralized stablecoin. i would argue that there is.

maybe he did, but if the price of rsr drops come mainnet like the fudders what to assert without evidence then you can easily assert that billions more tokens are going to be burned since the price of rsr is directly correlated with the amount burned. no?

>> No.22941053

>>22940969
in other words, if you think you're fudding rsr by claiming the price will drop to near zero come mainnet you are actually making a bullish case for holding past mainnet since by that point the foundation tokens will be used to arbitrage and therefore billions of extra tokens will be burned even if zero VC investors decide to arbitrage. as for the "vc investors got tokens super cheap" argument/fud, yes, that's actually the point of giving them cheap tokens early on so that come mainnet even if the price were to drop significantly they would still be profitable and would be more willing to arbitrage since arbitrage would burn more tokens and put them back at a higher profit over time than selling the tokens outright.

basically, selling tokens after mainnet will be disincentivized compared to just holding and arbing regardless of the price by then.

In the first post, you asked us what you did wrong. Selling at a loss was what you did wrong, no matter how much you try to rationalize it by imagining a future where RSR keeps dumping.

In this post, the picture’s clearer. You aren’t just an idiot for selling. You were also an idiot for buying without reading the white paper. You invested despite not understanding the token supply. This is a mistake that you’ve recognized, which is good. Now write yourself a plan for avoiding doing this again in the future, and buy that RSR back.
