The reality is that anyone telling you the absolutarian idea that "X degree is worthless" is overlooking a fucking ton of factors, but the most important is being where the work is. In the case of STEM if you get lucky while moving to california, you can get a good job. And with any other job if you get lucky, you can get a good job.
