Anyone care to explain this? Why did liquidity sudden shoot into space 4 DAYS before the drop announcement.

How utterly retarded are you? UNI airdrop was on Sept 17th, the snapshot to decide who gets the UNI was taken Sept 1st, a full two weeks before; any of the liquidity added afterwards makes no fucking difference. On the other hand, the liquidity spike is completely overlapping with the launch of Sushiswap farming.
