Has anyone ever thought about taking their crypto gains and trying a new career? Make enough to pay for the education and provide food, housing for yourself while you study. I know the end goal is freedom from the rat race but sub million gains can certainly reposition your career

Right now I’m a teacher but thought about law school and even learning how to be a welder

yes every day. But not a job working for someone. My own boss only

What do you think about buying a stump grinding machine and starting a stump grinding company? Seems like easy work the hardest part is buying the grinder and a truck to haul it but once you buy it...it’s all profit from there

law school would be a mistake imo unless you want to work tirelessly, huge debt for pennies for 5 years at least. then you can do well after that but id rather be coasting 5 years from now.

teaching seems comfy; lots of cute teachers, talking to people alot; teaching young people; this is something very "human/fulfilling" compared to the silent sausage fest that is software dev.

if i were you i would try to learn something about home renos and flip a house next summer. or dump everything into crypto

Property Law is pretty lucrative, that's the route I'm looking to take rn. I got into crypto to pay for law school and we'll see what happens, but you have to go into the right field of law, like IP law or something of that nature. Environmental law pays nothing for the amount of time and money you sink into it for example. If you do end up going that route I reccomend 7sage for studying for the LSAT.

OP, I'm a physics teacher and ex-army officer thinking of doing the exact same thing.

I'm in the UK though, where it's a lot harder to change things up later in life than the US.

I'd love to make a reasonable amount in crypto and go back to read a degree in engineering, have a nice cosy career with some self-respect, start a family.

If it doesn't happen in the next year or so, I'm either going to try and get a job as a civvy sailor or go all in ROPE. Give up on the world either way.

i think its most important to secure passive income from crypto. Be secure and comfy. Then start the business. Make a business a hobby and be your own boss and dont need money to free your soul. Youll feel alive and want to give back and be healthy and help others. Versus waging where we feel slighted and defeated because our souls are being drained by the consoomers on top

Or turn the crypto into passive income. Either way.

It all depends on what kind of law you want to practice and in what state. The more difficult jurisdictions like California are a total fucking nightmare right now, only 28% of bar exam applicants passed in February. That being said if you find a developing field like crypto where regulation is still not solidified it could be pretty lucrative since boomer companies will pay you a lot just for your knowledge about the subject and law around it.

Teacher anon here, it's pretty good as you described. Main upsides are that kids are generally pretty great, they're retarded but not corrupted by society yet, other teachers are good for the most part (and not as gay as you would expect - a lot of ex military where I work) and you generally get left alone by your bosses. Downsides are meetings, dumb administrative tasks mandated by the district and state and not a ton of money.
