Tale of the bagholder of shares in a company the SEC slapped with a cease trade order. That's a shivers. Happened to me once during the dude weed. Penny stock, of course. I believe they missed deadline on filing quarterly financials and were halted for something like three weeks before it got sorted. Not cool beans. One of the hundred reasons I no longer trade penny stocks.

For burgers: you have less than 25k in your account, you believe you need to sell something that day to prevent a loss, but doing so would put you over the day trade limit and get you suspended for whatever the suspension period is. That day trade rule burgers have is such madness. Stupid legislation pushed through by stupid people that harms the people it's supposed to protect.

I once found a pennystock that was a mining company based out of columbia. It was called New Columbia Resources. The reason why it caught my eye had to do with plans to expand into the cannabis sector. They had land and we're building roads to get to the minerals and a grow op and working products infused with cannabis. I thought this is interesting, and it was pumping 10-20% every day. Boomers were shilling it nonstop on some boomer penny site. Supposedly it was the South American Canopy Growth (with mining!). Then one day I checked my portfolio and it was...gone. the ticket vanished and all my monies along with it.

Oh god. Mineless mining company changing to dude weed startup. There were a few of those. And like actual same company with same CEO and people did the sector switch. There were lots of mineless mining companies used as shells for reverse takeovers (as a faster means of getting listed on exchange) but that is a different thing.

I think it will climb for the next 5 years at least, I think there's a low chance of a rate hike and even if they hike it will be bad for equities therefore money will look for a parking space.

well yeah, if democrats take the chair, they'll probably print more usd and it will raise additional fears of inflation so the price of pm's with it. Also there might be some social unrest, talks of corp taxes etc, which will cause uncertainty which is also bullish for pm's. But I think metals will continue to climb regardless who wins because there are becoming a staple in all large folios and with the economy picking up the demand will only rise. The exchange has some control on that. They can temporarily decline to open a stock for trading if the spread is ridiculously imbalanced. I saw this once on a IPO, which was imbalanced to the buy side at open. Exchange put a halt on it until the ledger filled out to their satisfaction, then they opened it. That's a bit of a placebo though. The race for the door at open on a suddenly distasteful stock can be extreme.

>Now is not the time to worry about shrinking the deficit or shrinking the Fed balance sheet,” Mnuchin told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” from the White House. “There was a time when the Fed was shrinking the balance sheet and coming back to normal. The good news is that gave them a lot of room to increase the balance sheet, which they did.

All commodities have explorers, developers, royalty companies (financers), and producers. The first two and most early producers until they ramp up production to be in the green are "juniors". Once they are proven with solid balance sheets and prospects they become "seniors". Commodity cycles are predictable with cyclical bear and bull cycles with super cycles for especially volatile bear/bull transitions. You generally win with just timing/patience and picking good companies with good or proven management.
In the start of a bull market, the money will generally flood first to royalty companies because of their high margins and "diversified" risk (since they fund many projects) and seniors. Then once those start seeming expensive given the market, interest begins to shift to juniors. Then eventually to explorer companies. GOLD, NEM, and PAAS were the first wave. There is increasingly interest now into companies that are near production within the next year i.e. they were planned and viable when gold was ~1300/oz and silver was ~$15/oz.

From trading perspective it depends on the duration of the move in the underlying spot price. A week or less, you're in better shape trading futures contracts or etf derivative. Longer than that and miners will gain serious momentum, way outperform the underlying. This will remain true unless underlying goes briefly parabolic, starts notching double digit gains per day. If trading miners i recommend an etf holding a basket of most of them instead of choosing individual companies. Mining is a tough business with some unique risks. Any one of them can get hit with some disaster and shed double digit percent in a day no matter what the spot price on the metal is.

Free riding (also known as freeriding or free-riding) is a term used in stock-trading to describe the practice of buying and selling shares or other securities without actually having the capital to cover the trade. In a cash account, a free riding violation occurs when the investor sells a stock that was purchased with unsettled funds.

The Federal Reserve Board's Regulation T requires brokers to "freeze" accounts that commit freeriding violations for 90 days. Accounts with this restriction can still trade but cannot purchase stocks with unsettled sale proceeds (stocks take two days to settle).[1] Freeriding can be avoided by using a margin account.

I think that balance is an unsettled transaction,I think what happened was that after you bought and cancel the Walmart stock the money was still processing but you managed to buy the other stock with money that wasn't in your account according to the timing.

If you had margin (credit) this wouldn't happened but since you don't you got pinched,I don't think you owe them that money, I think that money is still settling.

You can still trade, just stop buying and selling shit every 5 minutes or until your funds are settled or you'll get a second strike

Combination of a couple things, in my opinion.
First is that fundamental analysis of the broader macro and monetary policies in play are signaling a bull market.
Second is that TSLA behaves like a indicator for QQQ (am using QQQ as the tech sector). If TSLA is mooning or dump the tech industry will follow and TSLA usually leads in whatever direction, more so than leveraged ETFs which is very interesting
Third, is what is going on particularly with TSLA. So obviously they just had a massive sell off which once the dust settled a lot of people took as a buying opportunity.
NKLA just got exposed as a fraud so I am assuming the EV people are jumping ship.
Battery day is also approaching and there is expected to be some good / big news.
Personally I am very bullish on TSLA for the reasons I just mentioned.
Unless JPow speaks today and says something very gloom for investors I can't see why TSLA won't continue to moon.

Just pull up a timeline comparison of QQQ and TSLA or TQQQ + TSLA so you get more pronounced expression of volatility. The dips and peaks are basically the same just exaggerated.
I keep saying that TSLA = 5x QQQ minus expense ratio and leverage decay.
Currently my only postions are
TSLA
FNGU
TQQQ
but I wonder if TQQQ + TSLA would just be better than having any FNGU since FNGU is so controlled by whatever TSLA does and is also dragged by Baidu and Twitter.
Anyway, I don't know why everyone doesn't have at least 10% exposure to TSLA.

another funny thing about old stock market am, most of the things you invested in were "venture companies."

venture companies were basically small armies that sailed into africa / india and looted coastal towns. Anyone who owned stocks gained % of profits. Sometimes as dividend. Some of venture companies were literal pirates.

you think im worried about downside when they have almost as much cash (after debts) as their current market cap? and that they're actually pulling billions in revenue unlike NKLA? oh as a reminder their market cap is only $450 million right now.
this is probably the easiest short squeeze speculation ever, and institutions finally have a reason to fuck over short sellers and not be blamed for manipulation or inciting it because GME funny enough is actually a very reasonable long now even without the squeeze.

Did you really think the double price target upgrade on Monday was just a coincidence? We're just riding the momentum against the retards with unlimited downside potential.

with how they're handling the console release so far without Cohen, I'm personally not worried even if Cohen ends up being a passive investor (just hope he doesn't reduce his shares or else it'll cause a panic).

>Giving retards the option to finance a $500 console
good for a country full of "poor" retards living paycheck to paycheck
>Trade-in offers comparable to used console prices
guarantee a larger share of console sales, might cut into their margin a bit, but that's more people on board their pretty decent rewards system (a lot of incentives to keep coming back to gamestop)
>Same-day delivery or pick-up
This is probably the biggest one imo. Amazon can't afford to do it anymore for non-essential items. The basics always come first, and it's nice to see GME is already on the right direction even with Cohen on the wheel.
>New app to release soon
well they're really late on that, would have been nice if they had it before covid but at least it's on time for the console cycle.

Do you lot think GME is going above $10 when consoles release?
The end of lockdown, console releases, Black Friday, Christmas buying, etc, this is all known in advance, its all priced in. And the business model of GME is literally outdated and dead. Its all digital now, the company has no future as it is. And its not like Blockbusters, where there is nostalgia and good memories, gamers all actively hate GameStop.

How much DD did you do to get to that conclusion kek
You're just like me when I had an irrational hate for Gamestop that I didn't even bother to look at the numbers in the beginning.

They're priced in for bankruptcy. If GME was liquidated right now, it would be *at least* $5 per share. This is a $450 million market cap company with $300 million net cash right now, on top of whatever other assets and value their brand still has in a buyout.
They're currently trading at like a price-to-sales ratio of 0.1, something like bestbuy trades around 0.6, and something like CHWY is at 4.

not to mention that people seem to have the misconception that Gamestop needs to be a dominant competitor or something, they're already so undervalued that just getting to $1 billion marketcap would already give me 2x profits.
This is a company that's still raking in billions revenue and their woes was mostly due to criminal mismanagement (absolutely bloated SG&A costs, not to mention the fucking corporate jet) rather than digital sales that they have their toe dipped into anyways. Also the fact that the last console cycle didn't have backwards compatibility and were shitty underpowered consoles from the start outperformed by budget PCs the same price (not the case this cycle).
