My coworker is leaving an above average paying job in tech to go back to university for a masters in STEM. Is this wise given the current climate and job market?

If he has the money and wants to do it anyway, now would be the perfect time.

>> No.22478128

He's leaving tech, to go in to tech? What kind of niggerdry is this?

what you retards don't understand is he's going off his stressful job to bang cuties in uni and loaf around while weathering the coming crisis

then when the crisis is over he'll graduate and be able to show a nice degree he acquired during the crisis while others were looking (unsuccesfully) for a job.

high IQ decision

Top kek, graduate school is infinitely more stressful than being a wagie and absolutely soulcrushing if you aren't an autist schizo sociopath. Your friend is a tard though and deserves the pain

Did my masters right after my bachelor's in CS Cruz my dad said he would pay for it, Learned alot and developed an interest in ML and learned ALOT, and the degree was super useful to get shortlisted for interviews at companies, but the entire ordeal was soul crushing and I learned the hard way that you cant treat your masters like you bachelors,

I think you friend is trying to get more doors open for him career wise in a more specialized field.

will do the same next year when i get approved for my scholarship, but hey I'm a euro, University is free for 3 years, so i get literally paid for what others go into debt.

>> No.22479124

>>22478128
this was my original thinking, why the fuck would you leave a comfy WFH gig to get into a more specialised field, ergo reducing your employment chances. You barely need a Bachelors let alone a Masters

>> No.22479211

>>22478605
ultimately depends what her goal is. if she goes into coding web apps (which is like 80% of the tech market) then yeah it's kind of a waste

>> No.22479217

>>22479124
>You barely need a Bachelors
I don't have a Bachelor myself, but i don't really agree with that, because eventually you won't be able to rise the ladder, because some positions just require a degree regardless if you got the skills

If you want to be a good programmer, you definitely need to learn more mathematics, which you're definitely not going to self-study.

Going into further education is always a good idea if you can and want to do it.

Keep in mind, not everybody follows money like a dog. Some people just want to live and do what they love.
