If that's the policy of your broker, then I'd expect that they would write off the -$1,000.
However, they'd probably have more conservative margin call ratios and lower borrowing limits to factor that in.
So I doubt they'd be offering you 10x leverage, it sounds too high risk from their perspective.
But it all comes down to the policies of your broker and what they're willing to lend I guess.
