Not a horrible lifestyle at all, but you could skip the renting bit and just get a mortgage on a multi unit. You're paying less than rent, have an asset you can resell back at more than your original buy in, and have monthly cashflow from outside of a job while always having a place to live. Why wait until you're 35 to start thinking about investing after having 2 kids.
