Other sellers can hijack people's listing with their buy button if they're selling the same product. My guess is he's just doing this and sending a chinese ripoff of it. There's a huge knockoff chinkshit problem on amazon and this is what I'd guess your friend is doing. This is why so many large companies refuse to sell on Amazon, because not only do you get fucked on the sale, you have to deal with the complaints, and in some cases even the chargebacks because Bezos doesn't give a fuck as long as the cheapest price is what people are buying. Also, just for what its worth, if your product does well and you don't have a design patent on it, Amazon will copy it exactly themselves, slap an Amazon logo on it and sell it under their "Amazon Basics" line.
