>> No.22256150

Stimulus may "help" some pay their rent another month, but printing that much money is just running up asset prices and increasing rent which will fuck poor people more in the long run.

Poor people like the check because they think they're getting something, but in reality its coming out of their own pocket, its funded by debasing the currency their own savings and income, future income is in, and inflates the price of their rents.

There should never have been a first stimulus. Just an eviction delay until the shutdowns were over to prevent the spread. The government instead should have bolstered housing and food for the homeless, which is far, far less expensive and much more targeted and effective. It also would have but some of the burden on landlords to try and come to deals with their tenants because the landlords would rather get half rent then have an empty unit with no rent. But with stimulus it just shuts that down.

Our politicians have no clue what they are doing, or they are too weak and just give into the demand by the masses for cash now, instead of doing what is best.

If there’s no second stimulus, get ready for the mother of all crashes. If demand collapses fully without being propped up with neet bucks, then there’s no amount of asset purchases the Fed can do to stave off massive deflation and we will see collapses in everything. I’m not saying it’s a good thing for them to inflate with stimulus, only that what will follow will be incredibly painful. But also, inflating it with neet bucks also comes at arguably a worse cost, even if, delayed.

What's between the lines is the insane fact that they sent a mere 1200 bucks. The average person pays 1000s of dollars in taxes a year. The fact they had to create new money to had you back 1200 bucks is truly frightening. The political class on care about maintaining collective hegemony. They do not care about your average citizen.

Alright senpai you seem sincere in your post so I will break down exactly how you are wrong.

>printing money is running up asset prices and rent
Incorrect, stimulus is the only thing preventing deflation.
If nobody can pay the rent landlords will have to sell to pay their mortgage and if nobody can buy anything businesses have to reduce prices to get people to buy their goods. This is a deflationary spiral.

The risk in deflation is that landlords and business all reduce their prices but the debt stays the same.

>> No.22258608

>>22258315

Some people think a "deflationary spiral" is bad because it can lead to unemployment in the long term. But during covid people are laid off anyway due to shutdowns. There is nothing wrong with prices going down, in fact lower prices is a good thing on their own. What matters is employment and wages in comparison. But again, doesn't matter for covid layoffs. Deflation is especially good for the poor who are mostly renters who are short real estate, and the middle class in general have dollar denominated savings. Plus landlords already have forbearance to delay mortgage payments, no one is defaulting on mortgages in 2020.

>The main thing I don't get is how this doesn't benefit all the boomers hiding inside from corona.
I kind of think maybe the idea is that Trump supporters aren't afraid of the virus since Trump says virus is no big deal. Since Trump says it's no big deal, then liberals just assume it must be bad so they stay inside. So they figure Trump Boomers will go to the poll anyways, while democrats who live in really crowded cities will be afraid to go to the already crowded polling stations that will be slower than normal due to corona virus distancing shit. Then maybe their votes are less likely to be counted by mail.
