Long Version. When the fed does QE they arent actually injecting money into the system. They are taking money out of the system because they are only giving banks bank reserves when they purchase treasuries. In March the dollar spiked to 102 on the DXY. The fed did QE(which doesnt actually work) and put swap lines in place which is more loans. This INCREASES dollar demand. The feds also put a stop to all loan payments and we saw the savings rate skyrocket. The loan forebearance is actually why the dollar collapsed. Demand fell away as people werent paying down debt. Dollar collapsed. Well its been 6 months since the loans were furloughed. They are about to start getting repaid and dollar demand is gonna go through the roof. The FED is going to ramp up QE which swap assets for bank reserves. Bank reserves arent money.
You also had the banks fail their stress tests. To slap their PeePees the fed stopped them from being allowed to buy back their stock. In a fit, the banks tightened lending standards to tighter then they where on 2009. Remember its the commercial banks who create money when loans are made. the rolling 90 day commercial loan growth is -4%. The rolling 90 day residential loan growth is 0.5%. Conditions are tightening rapidly. Once those loan furloughs end that is going to go negative deeply as paying down debt is destruction of money. The dollar is going to spike hard up the Fed's ass. They are going to try and do QE but as I've already said, QE is deflationary. The dollar is going to do a moonshot. Think 105+ on the DXY. Potentially 130. 103 on the DXY is $28 on the UUP. Check the call price. I'll wait. Good you're back. CUrrency calls are cheap as fuck because currency never moves. DXY 130 is UUP 36ish. Now check the price of those calls. I'll wait. Been pretty rough since I started rotating back in mid-month last month. But I have high hopes. I should not have put so much into WKHS but sometimes you have to risk it for the biscuit. I should probably not be so over-invested in MMP either, but I really can't resist. I'm the only one shilling it here - 11% partnership distribution. I don't think they will cut it either.

I think energy is going to really break out as a sector soon. The fact that a midstream gas company like MMP can afford to pay an 11% downturn with extra cash left over (1.14x coverage ratio based on the worst case scenario mgmt puts up) means it is absolutely an undervalued sector. XOM kind of the same way although I think financially XOM is in more trouble than MMP. D is underperforming - I should have put that money into Duke Energy but I live in VA so whatever. TSM's performance today was stellar for being a tech company. Bodes very well for the future.

I don't do reversal plays like that. You wait out the drop and the initial rebound, buy on first consolidation period of the rebound, put a stop loss (or watch it and manually sell) below the consolidation range. This is essentially how I approach all swing trades. The goal is to capture the middle 50-80% of a given move. It's critically important that you do not attempt to make contrarian plays against the long term trend. Do no try long likes this on something that has a long term trend of flat range or gentle slope downwards. Long term trend gives you some buoyancy to the price action and some legitimate support. If you are trading long term bearish stocks your trades should be shorts.
