the only thing i envy is the ease that wealthy people create in their life. they don't have clutter laying around, and they invest their time to keep it that way. their living spaces are simple and designed to allow freedom of movement. they are not troubled by new ideas, nor are they overreactive to disagreeable ones. they are also exceedingly skilled at cultivating friendships (business relationships) with other people who have a similar attitude.

This is something I was seriously worried about, recently. Suppose that I make a killing with crypto and other business ventures. By some miracle, I actually manage to stumble upon a 3DPD chick who's not so irredeemable, has a brain and loves doing the same things I do. It's the soulmate Disney always told me I'd find, we're happy, she likes me for who I am, is happy for my financial success but is not a goldigger as she doesn't ask for unreasonable things.
Life is cozy, none of us need to work but we're still somewhat active in our lives chasing our own little dreams, step by step. Maybe we create a business together. We get married, (not on paper) and consider the idea of having kids.

Do we raise them with the notion that they're already more or less free from wage slaving and other forms of modern slavery, selfishly building them to become "weak men" living in "good times" or should we somehow deny them from a fulfilling childhood any kid would dream of, risking to make them resentful for keeping them away from a rich lifestyle because of some warped lessons we wanted to teach them about the value of money? It's complicated.

I gather from many documentaries about the really wealthy how they usually run business, and a common way for the parents to have their children ingrained with the idea of "nothing ventured, nothing gained" is by raising them with the option of taking after the family business. They know they didn't start from nothing, and it's a high responsibility on its own not to fuck up after your parents told you to. But it may also be a curse of sorts, because it wouldn't really be your life anymore. You'd be living in the shadow of your parents and that's not healthy in my opinion.

Why am I wondering about this anyway when I'm only 21 with 13k USD in virtual assets to my name. I'm far from being there lmao

not really. The main thing I have always envied them for is not having to work. Whether or not I drive a toyota corolla or a lamborghini is irrelevant for me. But spending 8 hours per day working compared to 0 is huge.
>Or how would you live differently if you made it from crypto?
Not much at all. I've already reached the point of not having to work, so in my mind I have made it. I can't afford a lavish lifestyle, though.

I've thought about this too.

I think part of the answer is to teach your kids to build businesses from an early age. Let them leverage your success and money, but don't give them handouts - make them work for it

And make sure to leave them the option of forging their own path, some of them may want to do that

Also, when it comes to passing on money, ideally it's a trust, where they can use the interest but not touch the principle, they way they won't spend it stupidly

The anon you replied to is right.
Trust fund kids are typically miserable for reasons of fulfilment rather than wealth.
Here is an exceprt from Rolf Potts' book Vagabonding.

>Ironically, the best litmus test for measuring your vagabonding gumption is found not in travel but in the process of earning your freedom to travel. Earning your freedom, of course, involves work—and work is intrinsic to vagabonding for psychic reasons as much as financial ones. To see the psychic importance of work, one need look no further than people who travel the world on family money. Sometimes referred to as “trustafarians,” these folks are among the most visible and least happy wanderers in the travel milieu. Draping themselves in local fashions, they flit from one exotic travel scene to another, compulsively volunteering in local political causes, experimenting with exotic intoxicants, and dabbling in every non-Western religion imaginable. Talk to them, and they’ll tell you they’re searching for something “meaningful.”
>What they’re really looking for, however, is the reason why they started traveling in the first place. Because they never worked for their freedom, their travel experiences have no personal reference—no connection to the rest of their lives. They are spending plenty of time and money on the road, but they never spent enough of themselves to begin with. Thus, their experience of travel has a diminished sense of value.

In short, its fulfilment rather than riches.

Same thing can be said for people who were once poor, suddenly having multiple lifetime's worth of money (i.e lottery) and going broke within 5 years or kill themselves quicker because they indulge in their vices in excess that they once couldnt afford.

>Growing with your wealth =/= growing up with wealth.

All you need are long term goals to keep a focus in life and not lose it.
I had multiple dreams of my death even while awake after I became a millionaire because that was the goal which made me go through all the effort and personal changes, and gave me the strength to learn from many failures and to keep going.

I needed a new goal after that.
What I found is making a list of smaller goals (childhood dreams) which take a long time to do combined together can be used as a life goal.
I also added a new goal of reaching 10 millions for the moment to keep something until I find my life's meaning.

If you don't know what to do you just need to increase your goal for making it for a higher amount until you find what makes you happy even without money.

My philosophy would be to teach the kids the same risk taking brain using strategies that got you rich. don't force them into normie wage slavery if you can give them all the advantages in life but also TEACH them how to use it and make their own. They are the chosen ones. I would probably give them an allowance at first but when they turn old enough I'll make them earn their own money, and use only my money for gifts and medical needs, all the while encouraging that if they want things outside of that they have to find a way to earn it for themselves.

What I did personally. When you *really* feel the weight of your wealth. Before you allow the massive dopeamine rush to flood your system and sell you holding and buy a hundred airline tickets.

Reorient. Find your bearings. It takes less than a day and will save you years of mindless meandering.

> sit down, somewhere quiet. Whether in the woods by the river or fishing by a beach.
> write down things that you are absolutely grateful for. Things you wouldn't trade for money. Family, friends your dog.
> write the positive traits that your closest friends and family observe about you. If you cant do this, a few friends down at a bbq and ask what are some things that youre good at in their opinion (I said I needed it for a resume, and a scholarship, I wanted to know my strong points etc)

This is to establish your roots, really know ground you and the soil you inhabit. Often you might have to cut ties with negative individuals or people who keep you down. This is where you find out.

> go back amongst things that you find nostalgic, old toys, schoolbooks if you still have them. Recall, what was the coolest thing you wanted to do when you were growing up? Was it to ride a motorcycle? Fly an aeroplane?
In short
> are you someone your younger self would look up to?

Once youve done these, youve set roots on who you are and whether you need a new place to belong. What you personally value and a general direction to catch up on old goals that have been buried by repression of the school system to make you a cog in the wagecage.

You are now free from trading your time for money, so if you choose to take up a PhD in engineering because you want to be an astronaut, so be it.
What Jordan Peterson said about choosing a load to carry wasnt in jest.

You have the *immense* luxury of choosing the weight you want to carry. By the merit that you chose it, not because you have to do so for survival, or conned because you don't have options.
Good luck.

im not rich myself but grew up in a filthy rich district. when i was a kid i didnt really notice / bother with it but these days when i go back there for some party i really get to see the differences of which the most obvious one is that all of them are hooked on drugs.

the only reason you dont see them being drug addicts (cocaine, ketamine, opioids) is because they have a shit ton of money and dont slip into poverty because of it

i mean i do like the idea of having alot of money and basically get everything i want at any time. it certainly seems that even though this sounds nice, its not something you would want in the end. it honestly looks like this lifestyle does not give you lasting happiness and joy (hence the drugs to make your life interesting again).
