wish anons would talk more about their strategies here and how well it has been working for them. doesn't even have to be very complicated. but i find trading strategies and why they work in theory combined with risk management theory to be fascinating. i focus on keeping it simple even though it can be difficult.

the main strat im working on now is simply buying the dips on a watchlist of tech and semi companies i like. the criteria is that they have to be great companies that i believe will continue to make new ATH's, so any price you buy it will eventually be profitable. i want to start buying some on red days with enough gas in the tank to keep buying more as they go down, eventually selling them as they go up.

simple, but the difficult part is: how many times do you split up your money? (a.k.a. how many times can you buy before you're out of money and can't buy any more and just have to wait) at what levels should you buy? (some multiple of the ATR on the daily? some whole dollar value [i.e. say you buy some AMD every 2 dollars it drops]? standard deviation channel values on some chosen time frame?) what are the qualifications under which each company is considered to still be believed to make new ATH's or not? (instead of a stop loss this is ultimately where you'd cut your losses) and finally, at what value do you sell? (some % gain? do you scale out at different points or hold for one large sell at a certain profit above the average? etc)

i find this stuff fascinating but yet no one wants to discuss this shit, feels bad man. if anyone wants to critique or throw in their 2c on this strat im working on feel free. im also really interested in the wheel although im not sure if options are gonna be any better than just scaling in and potentially then scaling out of solid tech and semi stocks.

fucking respond to me faggots im bored let's talk about strats to profit from the markets for a change. also im drinking.

Hey smg frens

Looking for a new state or country to live in, I know SMGbros are bullish on Utah and Idaho. I don’t know shit about them besides the Mormons and SLC Punk.

what states have places to live that are reasonably priced and not demographically riot sensitive?

Ideally neither strongly red or blue. I’m sick of dealing with these people.

I tried buying in as a drop happens also but often my first buy or two takes a while to recover and that locks up margin.

I alternate with different markets if there's crabbing between a dip and ATH I my most frequent/favourite shares, there's a dip to buy somewhere.

Still trying to figure out how to handle NVIDIA because the bell time is not always convenient for me.

My strategy is I'm all in on leveraged tech ETFs. While the shares are appreciating I've been selling covered calls way out of the money to get some cash flow. When the market goes on a confirmed dip, i.e., we fly under a few certain moving averages, I will sell out of everything. When the leveraged ETFs drop 50% or more I'll start buying back in with LEAPs calls. If it doesn't dip more and turns around back above those moving averages I'll buy the shares back.

>locks up margin

i don't trade on margin besides day trading, to each his own. still, i think a lot of people agree here that stock choice is the paramount thing, i like the NVDA choice. i like AMD a lot myself. i told my brother to sell before tomorrow with JPow and he came out with around 6k profit after buying in at $77, hoping it dips hard so he can buy back in just like im doing with AAPL and TSLA. NVDA is great but it's expensive compared to AMD so idk, i plan on buying the big navi shit for my graphics card later this year even. i'd go all-in on a NVDA split.

>>21904936

how's the penny stock shenanigans going? how do you handle the risk and reward on that? i remember you talking about boomer/zoomer accounts in earlier threads, do you just buy penny stocks shilled on /smg/ or anything else? how is your zoomer portfolio doing compared to your boomer portfolio so far? i've got around 60k so far so im looking more into dumping into good stocks rather than risking on penny stocks right now with my strat. it's a load off of my mind when drops on a good stock like AMD just mean more buying opportunities for me rather than stressing that it might die or something. usually when i deal with penny stocks i just use much smaller position sizes ("i'll throw in $1-2k)

>are you the TQQQ anon?
Probably a different anon here. I'm mostly in SOXL with some TECL and TQQQ
>can you get into more specifics? how far OTM are we talking and how much do you make from it over what timeframe?
I sell monthly calls at the beginning of every cycle. I start by having an idea of where I would be willing to sell my shares, e.g., if SOXL went to 400 by September 18th I would happily sell as that's $150 above where it is now. I have over a thousand shares so I start by selling 3 calls $50 out of the money. If the price moves up enough that those 3 calls are ITM, I buy them back and sell 5 calls further OTM, probably with a $350 strike price. If those get breached, I buy them back and sell at the $400 strike price and let things play out. I usually make 3k or so each month with this strategy moving stuff around though I'm dialing in the strike prices and could make as much as 10k pretty easily with a little more risk.
>do you have any sort of a stop loss or point where you cut your losses, or is this a "i'll hold as long as i need to and keep buying the dip no matter how far the dip is" sort of thing? what MA's do you use, just 20/50/200 EMA or anything different?
My stop loss is when/if SOXX (the SOXL underlying) goes under its 200 day SMA. When that happens I'll sell my SOXL and when SOXX emerges above its 200 day I'll buy back in. Should the market plunge and SOXL gets more than 50% under its 200 day I'll start buying those LEAPs.

Well, I guess you can include eve online for /smg/-themed games since there's fairly robust trading (except for the NPC-seeded assets and the real money -> isk).
Maybe also Entropia Universe, where everything runs of real world money. You can somewhat play for free and snowball into becoming rich, otherwise you might as well see the object of the game as being like trading, but with in-game actions being part of the market currency.

Garbage except TSLA/AAPL (assuming that's not a long hold, AAPL being fine but dunno about TSLA. that's a very large position for your folio).
FHLC, PLUG, NNOX, SPY is garbage-tier.
