Ok biz I keep seeing these threads about what car you should buy when you /make it/ and then we get some guys saying "just buy what you like" and other guys saying "my 1990 toyota corolla is the best car why should I want anything else" and then you have some who have $500k net worth and spend $150k on a car, then a lot more on maintenance until they are back to wagecucking.

So to keep it simple. Let's say you have like $2.5m+ net worth so buying/leasing and maintaining a car that is about $100k(4% of net worth) is ok with you especially for us younger guys who would gladly sacrifice that small % gain in the future for a nice ride in the present. So finally, what is the best under $100k sedan(new car) out there(can be a 4 door coupe meme-like pic related as well)? I would just want a nice comfy ride that packs some power and that doesn't have any cumstains from previous owners.

German cars are getting by on their name now.
They USED to be good. BMWs slogan used to be "the ultimate driving machine" and they made cars like the E39 M5 which was one of the best cars in the world at the time.
Now they make dogshit like THIS and the i3. They are made to be lease cars, meaning they fall apart after 3-4 years on purpose. The lessee gets a new one, and the sucker who buys it used gets a money pit.
LOOK AT THIS FUCKING BRAP SNIFFING CAR. YOU WANT TO DRIVE THIS SHIT?

Japanese cars are made differently and have different quality control standards except for nissan (which are shit). You will find million mile lexus cars all over the place and thats why their resale is so high.
They are also usually cheaper than german cars because you pay a premium for the badge, whereas lexus is not a badgewhore car yet so you get more car for the dollar.

I don't get the obsession with cars. So what? A $3k beater can, functionally, do all the things any luxury car can do. You're paying tens, or even hundreds of thousands of dollars to be slightly more comfortable when driving. The only other reason is to show off. But the thing is when you are actually become not poor, you realize how stupid it is to "show off" a luxury car when its so easily obtainable by most non-poor people. People are much more impressed when you offer to take a 1k+ bar tab then if you drive any luxury car that's not a lmbo or something.

would save enough to make another 2.5m
then i would start looking at nice cars.

You’re a retard.

>> No.21769632

>>21769403

Yeah but a nice TV cost a few grand, not $100k. And most people probably spend more time watching TV than driving, and having a huge 4K tv is a much better upgrade over a standard 30-40'' shit SD TV than a luxury car is over a clean economy car.

That is my point. You can pay absurd amounts of money for a car and its barely an improvement in your quality of life compared to other things that are much cheaper.

>> No.21769691

>>21769337
Luxury cars are kind of lame, but the upgrade from even beater to reliable is ridiculous. I've been stuck in winter, had my fuel pump fucking fall apart, had my transmission fluid run out, had my transmission slip repeatedly, etc....fuck driving a beater car, it's only a tool to get out of the lowest of wage slavery.

>> No.21769925

That would be a good argument if luxury cars were reliable, especially if you are talking performance cars. A used honda for <$5k is probably more reliable than most high end cars.

>>21769692

I'm talking about in relevance to quality of life. How much time a day do you spend driving? Hopefully less than an hour or I pity you. So you probably spend $10k+ to be slightly more comfortable for a tiny amount of your day.

I mean, what are tangible improvements? Are the seats more comfortable? Do you feel safer? What are the actual benefits that are worth tens of thousands of dollars? You can renovate you're entire kitchen for example for less than that. You could build an incredible home theater system for a fraction of that cost. One luxury car is like a decade worth of awesome vacation travel.

vs. being slightly more comfortable when driving.

>> No.21770399

>>21770086

You can't "go on weekend drives" with a car <$10k? My entire point is the absurdity of the cost vs the actual benefit provided. Did you really pay tens of thousands of dollars so you can drive some insanely over engineered car on a road with probably a <60mph speed limit?
