xlk is tech - google xlk holdings to find out what it's made up primarily of and if you want to short those companies on a red day then maybe that's where you want your puts; I don't buy puts because I'm really bullish in this environment so I have no further advice for you

If you refuse to sell at this point my opinion is to do as you said.

Wait for a random pump and try to do sell calls at a good premium short dated. Just make sure not to do it too soon into the pump or you might get btfo'd when you could likely get better premium. As for strike either a high enough one where should something actually happen you at least recover a decemt chunk of your money back. But not so high that it dumps back down and you couldve done a lower strike for better premiu. Albeit at that point if it pumps hard enough you should probably just sell it

My best results are on the S&P and Nasdaq futures charts. I put a 600 period 1 hour moving average, wait for the price to cross and buy or sell accordingly. I prefer futures since they trade almost 24 hours a day and there's less chance of a gap. whichever aligns with your preferred average hold period. Weekly will keep you in longer but the entries and exits won't be optimal. Daily has better entry and exit timing but also more false signals and fakeouts, more selling on consolidation where you don't necessarily need to or should sell, more trading to do for you.
