Having done something similar by car, between lodging and food it will get expensive. Also one very important thing to consider is not just gun ownership laws but use of force laws. Some of those states that will let you own pretty much anything will also say you can't shoot an intruder in your home until they try to kill you. Others will say use your best judgement, you've got free reign.

Food sure, but for lodging I plan on using a combination of warmshowers/couchsurfing and camping. I'll have to wait until March to begin the trip, but in the mean time I need to pick out a good bike, get used to riding it, and then grab some other gear/start selling shit I no longer want. The plan is to find a new home, throw down for 6 months rent while I secure a new job, and then fly back home to pick up my bird when things get settled.

>Newfag here what does SLV mean?

SLV is an ETF [read: can be traded like a stock] designed to give investors exposure to silver. If silver rises, SLV should rise. If silver falls, SLV falls...at least on paper.

The concern is SLV does not """own""" all the silver it purports to have. For example, SLV may claim contracts for future delivery of silver as silver in the fund. They may also be engaged in leasing or some other form of (((ownership))) to legally show they do own silver. If things go sideways and suddenly there's a run on silver, the "paper" silver will evaporate [read: they'll just settle in cash vs deliver the silver] and any fund, such as SLV is believed to be, holding paper silver will up shit creek.

The reason they'll be up shit creek is if the silver delivery market breaks down/melts up, acquiring physical silver will be prohibitively expensive and the cash settlements in lieu of the silver from the paper contracts will probably not be enough to purchase the REAL PHYSICAL silver SLV is believed to have.

This is not to say all metal ETFs will be in the same position - Sprott's PSLV, for example, is "fully allocated" meaning if they claim to have [ x ] ozs of metal, they actually have in storage that metal with clear title.

I've looked at a bunch of states that this anon was also looking at. Idaho, Montana, the Dakotas, Utah, Colorado. I don't feel like looking up the laws again but pretty much Colorado was the only one that I remember not being proportional use of force. AKA if somebody kicks in your front door and you think they are going to do any harm to somebody lawfully inside the house, light them the fuck up.
It's really funny to me. You will get these boomer hardasses from Montana or South Dakota that will talk about how great their state is and yet you can't shoot somebody for violently breaking into your house. Sorry you cowboy fucks, your self defense laws are marginally better than a liberal shithole like California. And that is totally down to your state, not the feds.

Colorado is weird with its gun laws. On the one hand you have mag bans, on the other they're not enforced by anyone, it just makes online ordering hard. Even people in fucking Boulder drive to Longmont to buy them. Fuck, there's an entire industry in selling mags cross-border in Wyoming. Colorado is Kentucky tier when it comes to what you can do in defense of property (including your car). And you can carry if you're licensed to do so on any public university campus. Also we have a literal School of Mines so this state is PMG related.

(P.S. Coors pls stop using all our water we need that)

the poor morale is more a problem related to the other factors. I mean feds want structure and rules they can understand and orange man comes from a looser corporate environment where things are less rigid and more often delegated. So you got a bunch of aspies that can't deal with the lack of rigor and boundaries coming out of the current admin.

regulatory cuts are a bad thing for people that make their living enforcing regs

allowing his staff to violate laws makes it unclear to whom those laws now apply. I can call Trump a bloody douche nozzle without any worry because he lets his staff violate that law all the time.

he installed leaders that have no idea how to run the agencies they got, and are often actively working to destroy them. This hurts morale.

>true but feds still get paid far more than average taxpayers.
Partly one reason why our economy is collapsing.

There was a time when the public sector was < 3% of national GDP. Government employees were not even counted as employed in unemployment stats.

Today the public sector (funded by taxpayer monies and/or freshly printed dollars) is 50% of America's GDP and rapidly rising. Pretty soon all the small mom & pops will be dead and the large corporations will find themselves crowded out or nationalized via "bailouts"

When the state owns everything and employs everyone, how is that distinguishable from socialism?
> I bet the antifa didn't expect communism to arrive this way - the Fed buying up everything with printed money.

Ever since the 1970s the Euros have been trying to get out from under the boot of the USD. Recently they've been not only buying gold, but the banks there have been moving it around so that every bank has roughly equitable amounts of gold on hand. That way it won't be perceived as 'unfair' should they all move to a gold backed system where the currencies are different again (no more Euro) but can still be easily interchanged since they share a peg. Additionally the EU has identified silver as a strategic commodity and made it a priority to gather it up.

The US sits on top of several Latin American nations with the richest silver deposits on earth, in addition to its own fairly rich reserves. When the USD dies, the new world countries are going to be sitting on the largest untapped metal reserves in the world, and will have every reason to get on board with big daddy USA and their new silver dollar.

Being the global reserve currency is hurts everyone in the USA except our banker/investor class. Our exports are too expensive and our imports subsidized by money printing. Every foreigner exports garbage to us (because our manufacturing is priced out of the market) and takes their profits to buy up American land, American companies, any American assets they can get their hands on. Soon half our country will be owned by foreigners and the other half owned by the Fed

Giving up fiat dollar global reserve status and returning to a metallic standard will be greatly beneficial to us across most sectors, except our banker class has too much to lose to give that up without a fight. Keep in mind the Federal Reserve is a privately owned bank with a government charter. It's ownership is claimed to be distributed among all member banks but has never been published. In fact the following section is included in the Fed's charter:

>After all necessary expenses of a Federal reserve bank have been paid or provided for, the stockholders shall be entitled to receive an annual dividend of six per centum on the paid-in capital stock, which dividend shall be cumulative. After the aforesaid dividend claims have been fully met, the net earnings shall be paid to the United States ...

However the Fed has never been Audited in detail, and no one knows if it's paying the full remainder to the US treasury after paying its own "shareholders". We also know during this year's bailouts, the Fed purchased corporate bonds of highly profitable companies that are in no financial trouble, such as Apple.
https://www.thestreet.com/investing/apple-verizon-bonds-and-others-are-bought-by-the-federal-reserve

Now why would the Fed "bail out" successful companies unless it's a profit seeking organization looking to optimize it's profit & loss ratios. And now the Fed wants to buy out the rest of America

Debt load is the primary concern, along w/ as I said, share dilution. To have a share be worth $30 now, the worth of the company would have to be just a little under 8x as much as it was at its peak even if we ignore the fact that debt servicing cuts into EPS, which is the main thing institutional investors (the people who actually move prices of stocks) look for.

I’m not at a PC currently so I can’t give you a full assessment on those stocks, and even then it would depend on your thesis.

If you think the financial system will collapse, any stock investment is worthless. Buy physical and guns and ammo. I plan to do this when I have more fuck you money.

If you think silver prices will go up for a while but drift back down after the height of the economic impact from coof related central bank shit - my thesis - then Mid Cap miners & SLV is a bet that gives you a good mix of leverage and liquidity on the underlying.

If you think silver is fundamentally mispriced, and will reach $50+ and - importantly - stay there, then the highest leverage long term plays like your micro cap miners seems like a decent punt. But if the price corrects down you’re going to be holding some heavy bags.

Anyway, I’m not trying to panic you out of your position fren - I just wanted to inform you about some of the ways the simple graphs you get shown as a retail investment are absolute misinformation.

If you feel solid about A) the company & it’s operations (go read their balance sheet if you can), & B) the underlying economic factors that impact them (E.g silver going up), then it’s a good investment for you!

There are different separation trains for different metals from the same ore source, Timmy. Getting aluminum out of Bauxite requires fucktons of electricity. Getting manganese out of its oxide requires an acid treatment treatment. And getting PMs from ore is particularly hard not because they're tightly chemically bound (gold sometimes has some copper with it, and silver is often found as a sulfide), but because they're present in low concentrations, meaning you need a longer, more intensive refining chain to bring their concentrations up on each 'stage' to recover them economically.

I don't know why you act like you know things when you don't.

cyanide and flotation are the current technologies in use, and both will process gold and silver and most other metals automatically without modification

what, you think mines are like, "should we get the gold and silver in with the copper or should we skip it even though it costs the same?"

I mean it's literally illegal in the US for a mine to dump tons of silver or gold or lead or cadmium or even manganese into the surface effluent.

so you either pay the government millions of dollars a year to waste metals into rivers or you fucking refine it and make millions a year. Both cost the same.

you have to take the metal out of the water either way. One way you lose millions. The other way you gain millions. What in your infinite wisdom do you think mines choose to do?

>> No.21479014

The biggest source of silver is as a waste product of mining. Outside dedicated silver mines, the alternative is to make silver at a high cost - I am not advocating to make silver though just saying we can do it at high cost. Silver is needed for future tech and there is no substitute at any cost. You also have to look at the mining needed from copper, zinc et al to get the silver - it's kinda high. There are rough numbers... but in magnitude they should be indicative: let's say 45,000,000t of metals gets mined and from that give 40% of supply of silver and that is about 300,000,000oz a year. It means that roughly 0.2% of metal mining is silver other than dedicated silver mining. That's all well and good but I'm kind of curious where the mining is going from here... actual production in years to come.

You just got done trying to tell me that mining companies only care about extraction, and don't touch refining, which suggests you don't realize that any mine working at scale is handling its own ore refining. Literally no one is claiming that it magically costs more to dig silver bearing ore out of a base metal mine than non-silver bearing ore. The difference in operating costs comes in when base metal mines that know they're also pulling PM in the ore, and they want to pay for the additional refining costs associated with PMs due to their low concentrations. I get that your excited to be a freshman and all, but its clear you don't know the first thing about separations, and why you can't just use a single, blanket approach to get 4 distinct metals off of one ore source.

Capital costs are higher for processing gold/silver out of base metal ore than just getting the base metal from it. That's unavoidable and a product of their concentration and unique inertness. If you somehow need proof of that I guess I can start uploading PDFs of my old Sep. Process Eng. and Process Design texts. If you need proof that gold and silver are hard to concentrate I can through in Chemical Kinetics. You have the transport background to get use out of it, I'm sure.

Again, you're dumb as shit, and you've never even been on site at a refinery. Cyanide leaching, whether its done via batch or pile spraying, or froth floating is the first step after crude crushing of the ore. Its also the easiest as it gets rid of most of the waste and tailings. But now, you have to chase ever smaller bits of shit ruining your purity, and this gets expensive. You can go with Wholwill (but you need 96% pure gold) where you make gold chloride solutions and use electrolysis to plate impure gold with a the 99.99% pure metal. Or you can go with the Miller process where you melt the impure gold and hit it with chlorine gas to make the impurities oxidize and come off as slag. This gets you to 99.5%, so you'll need additional passes.

Refining is about chasing 9s, and each 9 past the decimal is more expensive than the last.

MY issue is that it's a fundamentally different take and relies of stock market strength without any of the standard local factors that genuine PMs do. Sure it's nice to see them flounder around as theirown littel subculture within the threads, but now they've become hyped for shorties, you can feel the fundamental rift in dicsussion.
For example, Aurcana stocks are ones being talked about now, but come the crash it's essentially still just a fiat investment no matter how reliable they are. Even the pitiful Mercury Dime would be exponentailly more value throughout and even after a crash; given that it at all times holds value which need not be converted into fiat, and can't be defaulted on. To invest in miners is to invest in the remaining value of a crashed stock market and to hope it scales specifically better than PM counterparts for profit, which is antithetical to PMs at large wherein one invests for value retention against the wider fiat trade system.

tl;dr not racis, just don't like em

>>21482362
I'd say you're lucky the dip's extended for a while, most though that it was over after only a few days as it began to rally along then with the news from Buffett investing into PMs. I'm not a fortune teller who can say exactly when it's going to trough again or when it'll spike, but from my general instinctual experiene I'd say it's not going to go as far down as the dip from a week ago (though with EUR, it seems to have just matched it), but at the same time you shouldn't put off a purchase too long waiting for anything lower. It's at a decent-to-good price right now for what the market is like (assuming you're trading with Euros) and when it rallies again, there'll be basically no market indicators other than sharp jumps (ie, because it's rallying)
As an aside, is there Capital Tax Gains over in the EU, and does currency circumnavigate it? I'm aware that bongs don't have a pay a penny in taxes on their Britannias and Royal Arms because it's their legal tender; just wondering if it's mirrored elsewhere in the yurozone. If so (hence why I asked the question of how much you're throwing around) if you're working with more money as a whole (which would in turn be subject to more tax) you might want to look into it and pay a tad bit more on the premiums. If it's not that much to you though (relative terms), just invest in whatever you can get closest to spot, and don't forget on looking for VAT free options (I believe the Estonians are the ones on the call for that)

A. The ride hasn't even begun yet
B. This wild ride is going to be an order of magnitude greater than the last one, since they can't just 'bail out' a full economic collapse over a select few scummy banks
C. Every wild ride of days past multiplies much higher than the level we're at now.
If you're that concerned, I'd adivse more into Gold than Silver, but either is a safe play for now pre-crash. It's once the ride begins is when you really have to keep an eye on Silver.

It also sounds like he's realized there is no longer any will for fiscal restraint left in Washington and we are reaching an inevitable MMT-fueled frenzy of vote buying by politicians of both parties. But now both sides so it's far worse, because now they're locked in a bidding war for votes.

I expect this, and I expect shenanigans around CPI to try to hide the consequences.

Stay away from Oil if I were you for now, USD is complete fiat, but if it's backed against anything, it's backed semi-technically *with* (not by) Oil. If USD crashes, Oil will follow. From what I see of it, Oil is a mid-crash investment for diversification if for some whatever reason property and land get fucky to invest in (which is possible, given China owns most of it and they're going to be a big economic player next crash if they want to knock the US off of it's pedestal). Oil is relatively far away from Chinese clutches, and also fills the dynamic to Property/Land that Silver is to Gold, in that it's much cheaper to begin to invest in and in turn can act as a much more accessbile point into the market.
Naturally I'd say just hold on the PMs (unless you want to attempt to time the market freeze in prep for a new currency, to make maximum old currency for a higher), but for shorties, Oil and Oil drill stocks (Shell etc) would probably be one of the better, safe mid-crash investments when it's at its lowest.

Odd in a way, /pmg/ is more of a phycial resource general; I've seen a bit of discussion over lumber pricing as of late, which seems like something both promising and generally unnoticed for anyone interested for something akin to a miner without relying on the miner market.

This also brings me back to my previous post of the the Euro being German money and you being an american. If the Germans made another currency the Euro would be directly convertible into it. It would be the Euro with a new name... the same though perhaps a rate other that 1:1 is given.

Two of these were a weeks wages of a Labourer in 1824 (the date of this coin).
That is how undervalued silver is at the moment. It would have to get to $500+ an ounce to achieve the same value today, which could even be plausible once inflation hits.

Been thinking about this recently. With how much insane production growth has gone on since the steam engine, it's conceivable for workers' "nominal" (in gold/silver) wages to go down while still being able to afford a better standard of living every year.

I’ve thought about this too. In ancient times, skilled labor made something like 80 toz silver annually. In the 19th century, it was up to 80-140 toz. With how many people there are on the planet, there’s not enough metal to cover everyone at those rates. So the demand would require a valuation far beyond historical levels. Population has gone parabolic in the this latest fiat period.

One of the main things they’ve worked to keep prices low on are consumer electronics. Housing, food, and health care have skyrocketed in costs, but at least you can buy a cheap tv. Electronics are the bread and circuses to keep the masses from revolting while they are systematically robbed blind.

>Minimum wage 1965 is 5 silver quarters equating to $15/hr today
This is how we’ve been swindled. Intuitively people think bigger numbers equal better, but in real value, wages have gone down. During this period of negative rates we are in and heading into deeper, I could easily see Dow 60,000 but it would have lost real value from today’s valuation, despite being double the nominal value. They’ve been robbing us for decades with fiat and humans aren’t hardwired so that the average person is able to detect this.
