My dad died a few weeks ago and he gave me his bitcoin account alongside the rest of his ownings and money in it. Family is going through the obvious $ troubles after the death so we really need any money we can get.

I don't know anything about crypto, I just signed in to the website he talked about and his email/password. Can I withdraw this at the bank or do I make a bitcoin account?

Not sure if I should be asking this here or talk to the site admins or a lawyer in the first place, but we can't afford a lawyer so I'll try here.

Depends on how desperate your situation is. If you have no income coming in, limit sell it on a crypto exchange to try and get some quick money. The market is correcting today but it'll bounce back up later this week.

If you have an income and your money problems are medium- to long-term, hold onto it. There's no sense in liquidating assets if you can take advantage of financial protection like bankruptcy. Get a lawyer.

With those quantities, you can probably just withdraw to a new wallet no issues

Make a coinbase account and send what you want to sell to coinbase. Its an app you can download on your phone. Although I would urge you to hold off and watch the price instead for a few months. That is a good amount of crypto and in sure your dad imagined you holding until it was a small fortune.

I'll help you in the most normie way possible.
Transfer as much of it as possible to a coinbase.
Sell it on Coinbase and never look back.

If you want to get into crypto then just hold and dont sell until you're a millionaire.

You need to be very careful during the transaction, make absolutely damn sure that the addresses are correct because if you fuck up then its gone for good.

I could wait, but a bunch of bills are pending that I can't wait. So I'd honestly prefer finish it all right here and now.

Also getting his bank account and shit is gonna take a while since I live in a shithole and thanks to 'rona they're taking a while, so I don't think I can just "withdraw" it since I won't have access to his bank so doing it would be pointless for a few weeks.

I was gonna get into crypto, but not now. This much money is really valuable to us right now honestly.

I made a random metamask account, but transferring it is taking a while. Is taking like 10minutes+ normal? Or do I have to do some verification shit?

What's the difference between this metmask website and coinbase account?

>> No.21260926

>>21260858
Metamask is just another place to hold your coins as it connects up to a ton of different blockchains.

It's a "wallet". Coinbase is how you can convert from Coin to USD.

If you're not in the USA then you'll need to find an exchange that converts to your currency.

Gemini might be one, but I don't know. Binance too. It will take a week or so to cash out.

Right. So I did just make a coinbase account, I have the whole code and thing now for my account too.

Now, do I just transfer to the long ass 10+ keys code? Its still taking a while to transfer. Is this normal?

You transfer to an address, yes.

Your coinbase account will have an address depending on the type of coin.

For example BTC. Go to BTC and click "receive" on coin base.

That will be the address you need to send to.

Yes transactions can take up to an hour for BTC. For Eth it should take up to 10 minutes, usually 1 minute.

Depending where you live, you will probably need a lawyer anyways in order to administer the will legally. Try to get a consultation with someone and just ask about how much it will cost.

I'm sorry for your loss. Right now I'd not sell till it's 12k or more per "coin" since BTC seems to fluctuate quite a bit it may not be good to sell it right now unless you NEED money in the next week or so.

>> No.21264371

You might be in violation of terms of service for those mickymouse exchanges.
I would get a trezor and cash it out onto a hardware device, and work on setting up cashapp/coinbase/or find a another method.

Maybe try to only sell what you need to sell and hold the rest.
