21190725 No.21190725 [Reply] [Original]

In 2017 when I first bought LINK I said politely to all my family members "I'm doing well with cryptocurrency and I think I found some real long term winners. If you're interested, I'm happy to help you invest." None of them took me up on it.

I am worried when I quit my job they will start asking questions and I'll have to explain myself to them. I don't want to lie to my family, especially not my parents. I don't think they'll be jealous but I don't really want them prying into my financial business too much. My mom is always asking me how I am doing financially and my dad sometimes jokingly asks "how are your bitcoins"? I answer "I don't have much bitcoin but my crypto is doing pretty good" and then he gets this shocked look on his face like he expected to embarrass me and then goes "oh.. well, ok."

How do you plan on approaching this conversation with family after you make it?

I was thinking that recently too... depends if you have a money grubbing family or not. If they are expecting a handout, they I don't advise telling them anything. If they're supportive of you, make a plan on what to do next (i.e. buy a house, go to grad school, etc) and then tell them you have the money to do that (which you got from crypto), and move on with your next step in life.

yes I didn't pressure anyone. At the time my thought process was "If I get very rich off of this, I will feel bad if I didn't at least offer the opportunity to my family members." Even to my sister, who is a total cunt, did I extend my hand. So at the very least I don't have a guilty conscience. They made their own decisions.

It’s always been me and my mom. I’ll never turn my back on her. Assuming owning link is like owning https/ssl, then I will buy my mom her own personal villa in our home country surrounded by her family. While I secure financial freedom for my wife, my beautiful children and myself. That being said, I’ve done a good job keeping quiet about link and only told 3 people back in 2017, all of them lost interest in crypto after buying xrp. Anyone else will just think it was my mathematics degree that made me rich, and I will tell them Math phd 300k starting.

my mom is sick with cancer. I tell her everything about my life. The only thing I've never opened up to her about is sexual experiences with women.

I've even gone to her to ask for help with problems that most people would feel embarrassed to come talk about on anonymous shitposting forum. I don't even particularly get along with either of my parents, but I've always felt like I could tell them anything. She deserves to know that I'm doing well. That alone makes her happy, which only makes me happier

My advice to others, live your life the way you want to. Feel the emotions and make the actions you're ready to feel and make when you want on your own terms.

If your parents and siblings aren't complete pieces of shit, they won't ask for anything, but don't count on it. You can 100% expect your extended family and "friends" to start buttering you up and leech off you as much as they can though. Best to not tell anyone about your stack, regardless of how much it's worth. Keep that shit between you, your accountant, financial planner, and lawyer. Just make sure you plan ahead and budget yourself accordingly if you do decide to quit wagecucking.

Also, don't fall for the Lambo meme. If you start buying flashy stuff and make purchases that are way outside your spending habits, you're going to put a target on your back and burn through your money way faster than you expect. If you do make "big purchases", do it on something like a used 4 Runner, bespoke suits, get your groceries at Whole Foods, and fly business/first class when you go on vacation, etc. As long as you aren't broadcasting that shit on social media for everyone to see, you can fly under the radar and live a comfy life.

My plan is to fuck off to South America once I make it and buy a nice, beachside home. Before I do any of that, I'm going to make sure I talk to a tax and immigration lawyer and set up an account with a HNW firm. That way I've got everything planned out, so I can hand in my two weeks' notice and not have to worry about any of the logistics afterwards. I don't intend on telling my parents about it until everything is already set in motion and there's no going back. I'm certain they're going to be pissed that I'm quitting a stable job with good bennies, but it's ultimately my decision, not theirs. If that puts a strain on the relationship, so be it. I'm not going to work another 25+ years when I can retire well before 35 and live life exactly on my terms.

If you do tell your parents and they're sensible, you should just say "I've made X/More than enough money off my investments that I can quit my job and do A, B, or C." Talk to an accountant, lawyer, financial planner, etc. so you have your shit in order. When they come at you with concerns of not having enough money, let them know you've met with professionals who have assured you're doing everything by the book and will be fiscally secure. The more homework you've done and the more information you can throw at them the better. At the end of the day, your parents want what's best for you and just want to make sure you aren't putting yourself in a vulnerable position.

Chances are, your mom is going to want exact details and your father will trust your better judgment. If they ask an exact amount of what you've made, remind them that it's your investment and your money. They don't need to know every bit of information.

Okay fellow Chainlink Marines. I have just sold a few hours ago. I'm fucking ecstatic.
I've gone full tether and will slowly start buying bitcoin to send to my ledger which I will sell to brokers here in my country. Done it before. Will take a few months before all is done.

When all is done I'll buy myself of house, since I'm only dating someone I will buy an average home.
After that, I am going to tell my brother and my nephew (small family) I will buy them a house up to €250.000 each. I will tell my parents I will pay off their debt.

After that I will have some pocket change left, hopefully around €100.000. I will take a trip to Japan or Thailand and reinvest in something else.

I will continue to work as always. I enjoy my job.

The money you've made doesn't seem insane to you, but if he isnt intelligent enough to understand theres a lot of potential for wealth generation in buttcorns, they will feel slighted if you dont share an appropriate amount with them.

Imagine your good parents won the 100 million $ lottery, how would you feel if they told you they planned to give you none of it? Or They told you to buy a lottery ticket?

People dont see it as investing, they see it as a lottery, you got lucky, and they want you to share your resources with them. For gods sakes, they shared theirs with yours, why wouldnt you pay back their kindness?

I hear a lot of friendships and family bonds get blown up over money. Every time they are in need, they wonder why you need 10million dollars, and they cant have 30k, which is like 50$ to you.

I joke with my friend that if either of us make it, we should just spoil the other and help each other set up enough passive income so we can effectively retire and vacation together,

But I'm pretty sure unless it was absolutely retard levels of wealth it aint gonna happen.

Fucking NPCs. Nothing about this shit was a fucking lottery ticket except the percentage of gains possible. I will help my family but I will absolutely take a massive shit all over them if they think any of this was luck and they are entitled to a piece for no reason.

I had spent a few years telling my father about link and why I am holding on so strongly to it. Last year when I needed to sell off a bit to get by he agreed to buy it from me and allow me to buy back from him at the same price.

He ended up buying 2700 from me, he also managed to buy 2300 more, likely when I paid him BTC for a few k I owed him mid 2019.

Long story short we both have 5k link currently. I joke and ask if I can still get my link back at cost, which is a joke DESU. I owed him 40k or so through my life, so it is very humbling DESU. He is proud that I've done what ive done, and that's alot to ask for most.

There will probably be a correction, but no lower than 11.00. What you have to realize is that this thing has been undervalued for a very long time and it's finally being priced in.

In addition, we're at the start of the next true bull run cycle. It's been a fairly long time since the last one, so a lot of newfags are conditioned to be extremely skeptical about even modest moves upward. Because they're conditioned toward the bear market. What we're seeing now is fucking nothing compared to 2017

If your parents are making fun of you constantly and look down on your decisions, they kinda view you as a failure.

So you suddenly getting all this money will just be seen as gambling/luck etc. They won't be impressed or proud. They'll probably be the type to try and suck up to you and swindle you out of your money rather than be happy for you like real parents would.

Money changes people and relationships.
A few thousand dollars is enough for people to try and fuck you over. And you'll get millions?
Don't quit your job op. Find a simpler one that you don't need to do shit at and use that as cover - find yourself or some shit. Don't spend money extravagantly.

Also, do you live with your parents? Do not tell them until you move out. I repeat, DO NOT TELL THEM. Move out fucking asap if you do or your parents will have reason to just keep asking for money from you, and otherwise they'll kick you out at a bad time.

Your own place, some distance, and restraint. Then you can tell them. If they turn out to be happy for you? Congrats! If they see you as an opportunity and money owed? Cut them off till they decide to be better. Your whole extended family will also know in that case, and will come out of the woodwork to fuck you.

Good luck friend.

My wife does not know. In the shorter term I am planning on renting another place and going there during the day and doing whatever I want.
