Honestly I thought school was more difficult than what I'm doing now. It gets more interesting once you start actually auditing. I'm still working toward the CPA, but I'm at a good firm. We're very lean, but we're also ranked #1 in our state. A lot of your experience will depend on what company you work for. If you go into the Big 4 you'll be doing the same work paper over and over again which isn't very hard, but you'll be working a shit ton doing it. Where as the firm I work at runs so lean that in the first year you'll have done just about every work paper, auditing 401k plans, trusts, manufacturers, construction, cemeteries, off shore oil clean up organizations, just about everything you can think of. It can be overwhelming in that situation, but it makes it more interesting. What I like about it the most is that you get exposure to all kinds of different businesses, and learn exactly how they operate in a very rapid manner. Business ideas you wouldn't necessarily think of. You also get to bump elbows with a bunch of CFO's, CEO's, and owners. It can open massive doors for you. I recommend going to a mid sized firm where you can get a lot of exposure and client facing experience.

As for the corporate culture, I mean yeah it can be taxing. The thing is though, no matter where you work, you're going to have to deal with that shit. You can work as a server, a construction worker, a doctor, it really doesn't matter. You're not going to get along with everyone you come across, and some people are going to take you the wrong way. That's just how life goes, you really can't get around that.

On the plus, with this COVID nonsense I'll be working from home until 2021. So I don't even have to deal with the mingling with the same faces everyday. I suspect a most of the industry is going to be more open to people working from home.
