21075554 No.21075554 [Reply] [Original]

Would you rather:

Have $50,000 a year income but be a NEET, able to do what you want, travel, do cool things (could go south east Asia for 3 months a year and live off $2 a day)

OR earn 400k dollars a year, but wage slaving For someone/some company, 9-5, 5 days a week with only 22 days holiday per year ???

Kek, I live in America. For that salary it would be more like 6am-7pm, with 10 vacation days that you get scolded for using

So you would choose the NEET option?

I kind of hate this hypothetical because it's making me depressed but I would still choose option 2 and just save like a psychopath

There’s literally no positions paying 400k.
They pay enough to make you come back, never enough to let you to leave.

There are many positions in the US that pay 400K Europoor. Maybe not the average salary for the position, but if you’re in the top 35% of certain areas you can absolutely accomplish this.

We’re talking 1% of 1% of workers that are making 400k+ as a slaver.
Is it possible? Sure.
Plus there’s always a caveat like stock options.

I'll take the big brain approach

NEET - WAGIE - NEET - WAGIE

I've worked multiple jobs until I can't mentally handle it any more and then back my hours/drop jobs to relax. Sometimes I'm just not feeling the spark creatively or feel interested in my hobbies so I take 6 month periods where I work like a dog. Does good for the bank account too.

50K a year is upper-class money here, so yes.

NEET life all the way.

The 400K+ positions are very demanding. You have to actually be driven to do them. My father earned that kind of pay and he has reserves of willpower and determination I'll never match. It's like those videos of 19 year olds who make millions describing how hard they worked on their platforms, making their business, hustling... whatever. I lack their willpower.

No brainer. I'd take the $400k/year, live like I only make $50k and invest like a mother fucker for a decade. Imagine if you had $20k a month to throw into crypto this past year, you could probably retire in the next couple of years with 8 figures.

>> No.21077916

I make $50k/year and I've spent the last year and a half doing exactly this. I rarely spend money outside of my bills and crypto because I feel the opportunity cost is way too high. I'd way rather be making $400k/year. I was a bartender for a long time so going out, traveling, fucking girls and spending money on dumb shit doesn't appeal to me as much anymore compared to someone who's never lived that life.

pick one. If you're investing everything then what are you doing with your free time that makes a $50k/year job so much better than a $400k/year job? Can you really fuck around on your days off and be content knowing that your free time is costing you $350k/year and possibly millions in the future?
