Depends what you want from it, Like I want a better job but I dont want to do the sales jobs that get you shitloads as it doesnt interest me. I enjoy the academic side of my field and would be happy on £30k salary as a starting job. As people here have shown doing work isnt the only way of making money so in my case I can enjoy being a MSc student and then a PhD student next year and land a comfy job that I enjoy and perhaps earn more via investments etc. so for me it was worth it.

If you take away the cost of college, then I think anyone would say that it's generally good for you to learn more and find a specialty to dive into. Since that's not the world we live in, whether it's "good" is dependent on how much you put in and what you get out of it. Community college and state school can get you far, but a private university with a degree that won't earn you a job while putting you six-figures into debt probably is not a good option.

Worst decision of my life. $50k in debt at 7%. Worked my ass of to get a job after graduation. Fucking boomer after boomer wouldn't even give me an interview. Was waiting tables 2 years after graduation, making $27k a year and in a ton of debt.

Finally got smart and started my own business. Working myself then hiring someone. Not one single thing I do goes beyond a 6th grade education. I'm on track for $100k this year.

Unless you are dead set on: doctor, nurse, lawyer, engineer, then DO NOT fucking go to college. There are 100 better things you can do with your time and your money. And if its just about "the college experience" then get an apartment and spend one year getting fucked up and talking to girls.
