I ordered 17 ounces of random silver coins, some were presales. I got an email Monday saying JM had shipped 4 of those ounces via USPS, so I know it's in its way. The post office is just abysmally slow compared to FedEx or UPS. But free shipping is just that: free. I'm just stacking to hedge against inflation and add some diversity to my savings. All crypto profit is going to silver (and gold where I can afford it). Over the last year PM has been absolutely comfy to learn about and finally took the plunge.

5% in PM's

Imagine holding fiat in any major bank account

Imagine holding treasuries at this time

Imagine holding Stonks which are actually held by your trading account for you which in turn are held by a clearing house called the DTCC

If it's not in PM's I hope the remaining 95% of your wealth is tied up in paid off land or an efficent and debt free small business.

yeah I'm in a similar situation.
buying more PMs is so tempting for me.
but in order to control my urge to continue stacking, i set myself some rules, 3 priorities
1) pay off truck loan (~$1200 remaining)
2) stay completely debt free (no credit card balances, keep them paid off monthly)
3) maintain a min. bslance of liquid cash reserves
right now in order to meet these requirements, i need to hold off on any extraneous spending for about a month.
its torture. but im not risking losing sight of practical goals by betting on theoretical landslide profits from PM possibly mooning

I’m doubtful of this. Not because it’s unwarranted, it’s totally warranted, but if you remember the last crisis, the only rating agency to downgrade US credit was the only one fined for the mortgage backed securities collapse. That sent a message that downgrading US credit will cause regulators to pursue punitive actions. I think rating agencies have read that loud and clear. This week we had the outlook downgraded, but not the rating. How do you look at this, downgrade outlook, but leave rating as is? Well, you do so to send a message to savvy investors, but you don’t do the thing that will bring down the ire of the government on you. Remember that rating determines if certain funds can buy your debt. They need EVERYONE to be potential buyers of Treasuries. If any rating agency dares to downgrade US debt rating, they will probably regret it. Just remember that this is not a functioning market, but is heavily politicized. Decisions are not made based on sound economic analysis, but on political actors making the market do what is politically expedient and strong arming major players into complying. Again, this is why I don’t bet against them, but I hedge, because they have a LOT of power to make the market bend to their will. I learned that the hard way last crisis.

Inflation forces everyone to play in the Jewish casino if they are interested in retiring, lest they lose money in the long run. If you want to keep your savings, you need some control over your investments and you need to pay attention to the news cycle constantly, especially since January.

COMEX is not going to default. What will happen is JP morgan is going to be forced to pay big money to buy up enough gold and silver to send out for delivery, this is what happened in the last delivery month. From my experience with SGB as a leaf, under normal circumstances they have shipped within a day of receiving payment. I've had a few outliers which I've deduced is either they're getting a large number or orders, and/or they are pre-selling product they're expected to receive but don't yet have in their warehouse.

I’ve had 2 scenarios with this. The first one I emailed their support asking about my 1 week late shipment and was informed the Asashi bars I had in the order had been held up and only just arrived at their warehouse and my order would be shipped soon.

The second scenario was back in April I believe where I ordered some Britannias and it must’ve been at least a few weeks before I got a call from SGB apologizing for delay and offering to substitute the Britannias with another coin so they could get my order shipped out as evidently they didn’t have any Britannias and didn’t expect to receive more anytime soon. I ended up getting some ASEs for the price of Brtiannias though so I wasn’t upset.

If someone doesn’t have *any* gold, I would still recommend buying at least an Oz...except in the situation where 100 Oz is a big deal to you. Not everyone can stack at the same rate. So if 1 Oz of gold represents a serious I vestment first you, you are better served continuing to stack silver with the aim of trading that silver for gold later. Both gold and silver are ultimately undervalued, but I personally think silver is more undervalued and the silver:gold ratio still too high. So continuing with silver makes sense for those in your circumstances. Maybe stick to 10 Oz bars with low premiums since this would be silver you plan to trade sooner than your first 100 Oz. You stand to lose less than if you pay higher premiums for 1 Oz rounds.

This is actually my biggest concern with PHYS/PSLV holdings. Canada is going to have a very strong incentive to confiscate metals that are already being stored in RCM vaults, because otherwise Canada will be completely bankrupt without any real recourse if CAD collapses.

Most likely the gov would force an exchange fo fiat at market rate as a token of "fair dealing", but the process would immediately and significantly devalue the same fiat that is used to pay for the metal.

If you're getting it just to invest long-term, you should wait until after corona is long over to buy physical server
You're going to pay more than the strike price when buying it, and you're going to sell for less too (getting double hit)
It's not worth it unless you're planning on holding for years & years, and if you are, then you might as well wait for the price to come down first before buying in

Within the next 6 months, the price target that I've seen floating around is $30, so buying at $28.00 for a $2.00 gain to $30.00 isn't worth it..
again, if you're going to hold it long-term, sure, go ahead, just there are larger & faster returns out there to be getting into in this volatile market

Online dealers are in the low 30's for coins, less for rounds.

I've had good luck with my local coin shops finding ASE for ~$3-4 less than what JM/APMEX/SD were offering early last week.

If you're looking to stack, suggest you check out the local guys tomorrow AM and see what the premium is before buying online.

If the entire economy comes crashing down, you will have a lot more to worry about.

"In the 20th century, the United States endured two world wars and other traumatic and expensive military conflicts; the Depression; a dozen or so recessions and financial panics; oil shocks; a flu epidemic; and the resignation of a disgraced president. Yet the Dow rose from 66 to 11,497." - Buffett

Again, sure, get some for a rainy day, but you're dumb to invest more than 5% of your portfolio in physical silver.

This is not true, because ratings HAVE been downgraded in the past. Yes, it is an incredible credit risk if the dollars you will be paid back in are worth far less. I’m just saying that I don’t think a rating agency will step out of line again and actually give a downgrade. So they go as far as they can with a negative outlook without a rating downgrade.

what's more impressive is the US remained capitalist despite easy swings to communism or fascism during that time.

A 5% silver allocation assumes the USD wouldn't be debased the way it is now. Guess what? Today's USD is not going to outlive Ag and Au.
