My commissions for the month of July were 68 dollars.
I pay that only for opening an options trade. I pay $0 for buying or selling stocks and $0 for closing my options.

Just opening options for $10 instead of $1 would cost me 680 dollars in July.
Thats more than I spend in one month. Rent included.

Do due diligence. Research shit before you buy it, you'll get a feel. Let's give an example, ATNM and Microsoft, look into them and say how much confidence you have in either and where you think they're going in % up or down by monday. Then verify and see how close you were, repeat with different stocks and you'll get better at guessing.

American but I know roughly how it works for foreigners. You have to give a bunch of paperwork but Ameritrade allows all the same shit for the mostpart. Options are allowed on an options account, which you set up along with a primary stock account. You'll need a bank account setup in order to do options, that way they know where to take all your money from.

no you dont understand, a new shitbox is a passion.
i don't want a used car that who knows what the fuck the previous owner did do it (redlined or drifted too many times on a track or something, or too many mods)

there's also the chance that the Nissan Z cars are going to be a limited run because no one buys manual cars anymore. Like the S2000 is an extreme example but those shit are more expensive than they were new because of ricer mentality. It's also difficult to get good deals even on more common used shit like WRX STIs precisely because of that ricer mentality.

once i have a 6-digit job, yes im going to fucking splurge on a $30K new car. DOn't fucking stop mee!!!

Stocks generally go down when there's a change in presidency.

Still won't go down that much, because of JPOW.

Stocks will only go down when:
1) Virus mutates and kills young kids
2) Fed Raising Interest Rates

I don't see 2 happening, but 1 has a good chance because this virus is far more contagious than the Spanish Flu and thus has greater odds of mutation. How it will mutate is anyone's guess.

I started investing back in January (bad time to get in) and had some VOO to start. Through the crash I DCA'd in until my cost basis was low enough to eventually break even and actually make a little.

It really just depends on your time horizon. An S&P index will almost certainly be more valuable in 10 or 20 years than it is now, and at that point the compounding might put you in a safe spot for retirement assuming you're averaging in through all those years. It's like talking about the difference between 1 and 5 million. When you're 65 years old you'll probably do okay with an inflation-adjusted $1M.

My time horizon is a bit shorter, because I'm probably going to kill myself before I get old. So I want quicker gains if I can get them, but not so quick that I have to gamble it all for a moonshot. As you say, tech is the best play for that. I wish I was smart enough to have thought about investing in online retailers in March or April, thinking about how the digital economy would change. I was lucky enough to get into MSFT and AAPL before Apple's big break on Friday.

Took it from a WSB post. It was apparently a calendar spread. I don't know the exact details but I think Robinhood has a "bug" where it improperly determines the value of one of the "legs" of the spread (look up calendar spreads and spreads in general for more on that), and yields an incorrect balance. From what I understand the bug only happens during off hours, which is why that one Robinhood kid killed himself on a weekend.

There’s something about the tech sector that makes a lot of investors and swing traders say, “Nah, it’s too good to be true, too easy, contrarian investing is where the real gains are.” I think that rather than the entire sector or the entire market being in a bubble, bubbles emerge within the market and within sectors, and periodically pop. Some tech companies are very speculatively valued, frankly, but overall the growth and financials of megacap tech companies are completely real.

It’s the classic thing about how hard it is for people to understand exponential growth. Traditional industries never had the means to adapt or evolve as rapidly as modern technology companies, yet people think of tech as just another bubble like all the other industry booms that came and went. Just isn’t the same thing.

You should just invest using simple methods like a 1-3 prong portfolio. You only need three kinds of investments:

-Total Stock Market/S&P 500 index fund (largest position -- at least 60%)
-International Stock Market index fund (2nd largest position -- could also take up to 40% if you prefer more risk)
-Bond Market index fund (smallest position -- don't go more than 15%)

It's really up to the anon to make the decision as to what they should invest in based on their current scenario, what their goals are, and how much risk they want to stomach. Would I prioritize bonds? No. I would make sure to have at least the lions share in stocks.
