You can buy into silver/gold trusts. Sprott's are probably the best, you can redeem for physical, supposedly. There are ETFs that handle commodities as well, you can get into agricultural commodities without trading futures, but you get a degree of resistance to inflation you wouldn't necessarily have with an equity, have the tomato and eat it, too. It's hard to anticipate how rapidly increasing inflationary pressure would effect equities across the market.

High debt high cashflow companies would be at an advantage, hypothetically. Debt can be seen as a short on the dollar, especially when talking about EMs. Because a given company can somewhat rapidly adapt prices, so long as they're generating high velocity cashflow, they should be better able to deal with inflation. Anybody that markets product at spot price on shorter term contracts would be well suited. Long term fixed rate contractual products are going to get fingerblasted, think long term construction contracts like wind farms or utilities. They go in when the dollar is 100, and finish out when it's at 95 and lose a big portion of their margin in doing so.

Nobody knows.

I post KimP because the anime posters are faggots, not really /co/ but I am into redhead/blue eye girls, I was reminded of Kim when someone asked me if I knew a song, of which was her intro song. I like to give out real advice as Kim because it will be disregarded as a /co/ fag, so just for the sake of it I can say I told you, so when nobody listens and filters me. I'm fairly certain there's been some shift among his advisors, they must have some new mandate regarding social media going into the election and that includes criticizing FAAMNG. You buy sets of 100 of a stock, then you can sell 1 call for each 100 stock you own.

For example:
I bought 200 TSM at $70 for a total of $14,000
Then I sold 2 calls at $80 strike that expire at the end of the week
Each call gave me $30 (or $0.30 per stock), which means I now made $60
Because TSM ended below $80 at the expiry date, the calls are worthless and I keep all $60 and 200 shares.
If TSM was over $80, then my calls would be exercised, and I would get $80 * 200, $16000, plus keep the $60. Then if you like, you can buy back in the next dip.
Alternatively, you could buy back your calls if you want to keep the shares. Usually you would do this if its above your strike, but below the strike + the premium. In this case, if the stock was between $80.01 and $80.30.
In one week, you gained 0.4%. If you repeat this for 50 weeks, you'll have earned 20% on your investment, regardless of the current price of the stock.
To maximize premiums, I generally scout out promising companies that have earnings in the next week or two, buy shares, then sell calls on the next green day. Premiums are the highest just before earnings.
Additionally, you can just buy and hold a stock and sell weekly/monthly calls for additional income.

>i get bored watching my index fund sit there making 10-15%/year. i wanna get active and try to beat that.
It is not a meme to say that this is difficult to do without a lot of experience, risk tolerance, emotion control, and planning. I think most people benefit primarily from index funds with some small percent of your stock portfolio being a handful of individual stock positions of companies you really like. Maybe companies that deal with things you have more experience with because of schooling or work, so that way its fun or interesting to review their fundamentals every so often and add to it over years.
I personally play with options for the moment because of how much of a mess everything is. And even then its with about 5 tickers that I know really well, rather than trying to chase moonshots. A lot of portfolio is still in a vanguard index fund because that is my retirement account and that is what I decided my tolerance for risk is.

I would advise you to be cautious
It's good that you have a basic understanding of how options work, and which options might be "cheap" or "expensive", but that won't necessarily translate into successful gains.
Especially right now, for the last year or so we've had so many externalities flying left and right at the market that it is very easy for anyone who tries to get "clever" and make a bunch of money to end up wiped.

if you don't absolutely need to take on more risk to achieve your investment goals, I would advise against anything significantly risky in the current state. if you have some russian debt collector coming after you in a month, then sure, go ahead. but otherwise, don't put your whole stack into option strategies.
put maybe 10% of your account into the tastyworks, then use only 20% of that on any given trade at a specific time. Then even if you make some early missteps you will still have plenty of money to continue on. If you do very well at the beginning, don't get too greedy!
you (probably) have many decades of investing ahead of you to make gains. as long as you don't blow your money and use the time ahead of you to your advantage, you will do very well.

>> No.20891681

>>20891558
I don't understand your interface. "Bought a contract to sell" either means you purchased a put contract or sold the shares short. It might also just be telling you how much money you saved from your moves compared to holding until EoD. Unclear.
>>20891594
Everyone thinks that at some point. When you buy options, volatility is your friend and time is your enemy. When you sell options, time is your friend and volatility is your enemy. Predicting unforeseen SHIFTS in volatility is where you make money but that is basically gambling. Better to be the house (options writer), than the sucker at the table (options buyer). Just be very cautious about writing dumb unhedged puts. All options horror stories come from those.

From 2021 options are banned anyways.
Because "private traders" are bad gamblers. So the social democrats allow supervised things like Warrants or Knock-Out stuff, you know the ones that are high-risk losing products that only make the banks money? Those ones.
Bad stuff like options dont make the banks money and are therefore banned. I have to move next year because of that.

It just shows how desperate the banks are for cash though. Imagine the US banning non-Windows or Mac OS to support Microsoft and Apple. Or Russia banning non-gas heating.
This country is mad. We should get out while we can/are allowed to.

The reasoning was that if you make profits you generate taxes, but if you lose money you take these taxes away again. And they cant allow private people to take the gouvernments taxes/money away again. So this law bans trading so nobody can rob from the gouvernment again.

Aren't most options written by institutions? Buying options is directly betting against people with a trillion times your networth and influence. With stuff like turbos the game theory checks out, atleast in theory, in that the institutions issuing them make profits from fees regardless of whether you win or lose so in theory they don't have an incentive to play against you.

All losses (stocks, options, warrants) are affected. If you sell 50 TSM stocks at a loss you will not get these losses back till next year.

>Aren't most options written by institutions?

>Buying options is directly betting against people with a trillion times your networth and influence.
Not really. The biggest buyers of puts are funds and banks hedging for example. They do this week after week, year after year. No matter how bullish they are.

But warrants and these other scam financial products are a bit different. The banks can literally set a price here. You are trading with side that can dictate the price of the thing you just bought. Imagine me writing a covered call and then saying the call is now worth $0.01 till the date of expiration.

Euro style warrants are the closest thing you can get to legal robbery. Usury is better than this. They are even banned in the US because of this as far as I know.

31. Do not wait that long. It was a mistake. In 2008 I thought about opening an account but the spooks got to me and I didn't want to touch it at the time. Waited until 2015 to finally give it a go. There is a whole long history for me regarding the spooks. See my dad was/is maybe the most inept handler of money I have ever encountered in person. He has a bizarre duality going on such that he does not trust gambling, will not even play poker for quarters with me, and does not trust the stock market. He will, however, enter in to wildly risky investments because some huckster wove a romantic tale to him about some kind of business startup or new tech in development. So he pours money in to whatever the scam is, it vanishes, he gets mad, waits a couple years, and does it again. This was the man setting an example about money for me in my youth. There was naturally a period of deprogramming I had to apply to myself before succeeding at stock market was ever going to be in the cards.

I am sure most of us have a poor/imperfect upbringing, but it can break you or bring you to understanding/make you stronger. My dad bought penny stocks and random stuff, wasn’t much of an investor, but he had made money in 2001 when his tech penny stocks quadrupled. I was forced to do sports, was punished by having to do like 500 pushups within 30 minutes, in perfect sets of 50. Was told as a kid when I would program games and play around with 3D software with the aspiration to be an engineer that everything would be outsourced to China/India and I should just work a trade - this fucked me up most since I head this since around 10, came to the understanding when I was around 16 that it was total bullshit. Considering a buy on the following tickers. I've seen a few of them mentioned here, and would like anon's thoughts.

>Lemonade (LMND)
Waiting for this recent IPO to stop tanking and then allocate maybe 5% into it. It's a new insurance company targeted at millenials. Seems like a decent bet.

>Rosetta Stone (RST)
I think that any foreign language program is a pretty fair bet for a long-term hold, and this company seems to be poised to take advantage of this. Will probably also see a boost in earnings from everyone at home during Coronavirus.

>Docusign (DOCU)
This is the only platform I've seen that even completely illiterate boomers can use to digitally sign documents. In an era where you are branded as a heretic for getting within 6 feet of someone, I think this is a good bet.

>Upwork (UPWK)
Work-from-home/freelance platform similar to Fiverr, except Fiverr has already skyrocketed. Earnings are coming up soon and it only makes sense that they'll crush it.

I'm also invested in MITK (identity verification) and HEAR (Turtlebeach headphones/gaming hardware) that have earnings reports coming up. My main holdings are TSM, AMD, NET, CALX, MA, V, GDXJ/SILJ, and QQQ/SOXX.

Interest rates are time, people who take debt should pay a price for pulling consumption from the future. It’s savers that are punished the most by interest rate suppression because their frugal nature is penalised instead of rewarded and their rewards given to retards who’s can’t control their habits, it’s created the sick society we live in and if your fond of how things are then it’s you who simps to Babylon

I'll be getting $10k soon - what should I do with it? Here is what I've considered:

1) dollar-cost-average into QQQ once a month
2) Trade options (but only max of 10% at a time, so ~$1000)
3) buy 100 shares worth of something and then sell covered calls
4) yolo all in on some /smg/ meme stock.

huh?? my current salary is fine. I am getting 10k in one shot. I don't NEED the 10k per se, which is why going with (4) might not be the worst idea. but obviously I'd rather make money than lose money..
