At what rate should you sell along the way up given that staking is coming?

I get the feeling I shouldn't sell very much because a larger stack will allow me to earn more staking, which would come out to more income in the longterm. However, I got burned in 2017 by not selling along the way up, and I'll never make that mistake again.

Now. This is a good time to jump out.
Staking isn't coming for years, ETH is nothing but pure hype.

It's literally 3 months away. They're starting the final testnet on Aug 4.

I’ve been selling 5% each time we break resistance.

Sure I missed out on some profit but I locked in my gains and if it goes back down I can increase my stack. Better safe than bag holding.

this is the way to do it but space out your sells more
otherwise you end up with no stack by the time the real euphoria hits

well if it goes to ~5k in 2020 or Q1 2021 I'm selling, because dumps from miners are going to dump it down, but only to rebuy after a year.
Eventually, it's going significantly above $10k and is going to stay there under PoS.

Few people have any idea how much a decentralized and optionally anonymous (rapidly growing field on ethereum) positive yield asset is worth. Eventually ether is going to be the single largest singular asset in the world.

I'm aware of it, but the limitation of fixed sums is, well, limiting.
I'm waiting for anonymous zk-rollups, it's only a question who does it first, aztec or matter?
There's also zkopru which is an optimistic rollup of zcash-style full anonymity, 8800 gas per token or eth transfer

Future is bright

anon I'd gtfo now while it's pumping. staking will be delayed for the 27th time yet again. but let's steelman the possibilities. Phase 0 comes out in 3 months and you make the switch to the new chain
>switching to Phase 0 eth is a tax event
>Phase 0 eth cannot be sold anywhere
>Phase 0 eth staking rewards will not be delivered to you until Phase 2 is completed
>Phase 2 is many YEARS away.
so staking rewards will not be in your hands for years and years, whether phase 0 live this year or sometime in 2021 or 2022... you won't see those rewards until what, 2023? 2024??

the new plan is for eth1 merge after phase 1, but before phase 2. It's going to be a sharded blockchain with data-only shards and one compute chain. Enough for 100k tps with zk-rollups.

>> No.20872285

>>20871856
eth miners have billions of dollars invested in mining hardware. if atiny fraction of them do not stop mning the eth 1 chain then there eth 2 will be the new (not the original) chain. tax event 101. whatever your tax rate is, that's how much of your eth stack you lose to pay capital gains... even worse because as you sell tyou trigger even more gains on the coins being sold. people are gonna get rekt just like in 2018 by the tax man, and those wjo understand what is coming will be selling as soon as possible to cover the tax unless they have enough cash to pay the bill. early eth whales will lose miklions to this

>> No.20872526

>>20872285
ethereum foundation owns the ethereum trademark, so anything that diverges from what they consider ethereum is the new chain as far as tax law is concerned, and anything that doesn't is an upgrade

>Phase 0 eth cannot be sold anywhere

If you stake with Rocket Pool, you will receive rETH, which are shares of all of Rocket Pool's beacon chain ETH (deposits plus earned staking rewards). You will be able to sell rETH on the ETH1 chain at any time, just like any other ERC20 token.
