The spot price is $24 and yet all of these god damn brokers are charging $35 for an ounce (ex: silver eagles). you're either going to have to hold for a long time to get your value back, or shit is going to have to hit the fan really hard for it to be worth it.

And not to mention that we aren't even at a ten year high price and for the last eight years the shit has been like $14 an ounce so basically it's a fifty fifty shot with one outcome being that you lose half your money and the other outcome being that It's going to take a lot for you to break even. On the basis of historic precedent, mining stocks are an excellent way to diversify. They were not confiscated, for example, during the Great Depression; and so those who held Homestake Mining, the ancestor of Barrick Gold, made 500% on their investment.

Peter Schiff, along with everybody else who is trustworthy in the PM community advocates for mining stocks. The only exception I know is RoadtoRoota; but he has some extreme views and mental health problems.

Mining stocks offer 3x leverage to the underlying metal. SILJ, for example, is up 180% since March, but silver is only up 75%.

The best ETFs for buying mining stocks are GDX, GDXJ; SIL, SILJ.

1. Price moves are more volatile right now, premium is to have a buffer for the dealer in case price dips sharply
Let's say the dealer cleared out his stock and ordered in a box at 23. Suddenly JPM has a fit and spot drops to 20. If the dealer's premium was 2 bucks he'd be making a loss of 1 on every sale, but not if the premium was 4 bucks

2. Higher trading volume nowadays because we're finally getting into a bull market, might as well raise premiums since price elasticity just dropped and there will still be suckers out there like us who'd still buy them

I do not agree with what you are saying.

https://goldsilver.com/blog/how-would-gold-perform-in-a-second-stock-market-crash/

GDP collapsed during the Great Depression, but gold and gold miners thrived. As was pointed out earlier, Homestake Mining, the ancestor of Barrick Gold, which is in the GDX, rose 500%. It rose 90% as the Dow was crashing 90% on its second leg down.

Money is necessary for civilization. If the fiat system collapses, we go back to gold. The world doesn't suddenly look like a Fallout game. All the production and manufacturing is still there. It simply means that America, which is a mere welfare-warfare state, will become poor, while formerly second- and third-world countries will become rich. Hence why Peter Schiff is so heavily invested in foreign stocks. No better time to own a gold mining company than under those circumstances.

so yeah, miners did great in the US because they went from 0 to 100% and then right back to 0. Also it was illegal or impossible for US citizens to buy gold, so the situation was completely different.

now miners are going from 100% to potentially 0 and then back to 100. The exact opposite.

I don't think that sentence means what you think it means.
The most straightforward way would be to sell a block of them to purchase futures contracts since the futures prices are trading below spot. Another could be to shift gains into ETFs that allow for trading in shares for the physical metal. AAAU or certain gold trusts. But you'll have to do calculations about shipping and insurance costs. I did a little reading and I think a self-directed IRA could have worked to get into silver futures. So you could sell the shares, not pay capital gains as long as they remained in the account, then used the proceeds to purchase futures contracts. I can't seem to find anything definitive about what happens when you exercise the futures contract within the IRA. I have to assume that the metal becomes part of the IRA.
My guess is that the custodian would have to either store it for you with a preferred vendor or allow you to do it but require that it use a reputable service with a rigorous auditing service.
So that gets you, with some maneuvering, metal in a safe somewhere without having to pay capital gains that belongs to you. I just don't know if there is some way to get it "out" before the age of 59.5 without paying income or capital taxes on it.

IRA custodians track everything. You'd have to actually purchase the property with the proceeds which are capped at 100k. Good land i.e. not suburban cookie cutters or in major cities is also non-fiat and unprintable. It is also unminable.

Most people in these threads either want out of the city or are already out of the city. That seems like a viable asccet transfer in bad times. Probably the best I've ever heard of. There has to be a cap though which is a bit messy. There's risk in any investment, but this is the best IRA type it looks like.

Well eagles are the most reputable in the U.S, bit its not going to matter too much long term I think personally. The way silver is going just means any silver is going to be worth it. Non-tarnished & uncirculated is always preferred.

I'm unfamiliar with if your referring to gold or not but seems like with those margins you're talking about silver.

50oz is good.
I'm about to break 200oz, but a word of advise is that even at 200oz this isn't considered viable, but its simply a healthy savings account in a global financial colapse. It may be 100K in a few years or it is simply far less.

Before we enterd inflation the word here was stacking 32,000 oz of silver was considered rhe ultimate side stack that you never touch it while still continuing to stack silver to trade, sell, and fund prospects like a multiple savings account.

When I first heard this it seemed impossible which for some it may be, but keep working smart. It may just come to pass. Remember though anon, this life is not the end goal. You'll be surprised how many people in /pmg/ are Christian.

Whats going to happen when they flood the market with that pent up supply? WHAT? The biggest banks in the world have been playing games with physical silber and gold for scores of years. YEARS

If you're in a position where drawing a firearm is necessary you are in a position where killing another human being is necessary, they aren't toys. You only have one life, and once another person has given you clear signals that they are willing to cause you grievous harm for something they want, it becomes incumbent upon you, the victim, to answer with overwhelming deadly force.

Life is a dangerous and scary place, you need to get your mind right about being able to take life before owning a gun will do you any good. I've seen more than enough violence, and have more than enough scars from it, to know that I never want to experience it again.
