I want to get out of this fucking city and live off of the land. My friends and I are seriously discussing starting a commune where we all live with our future tradwives and children. We can raise livestock and grow produce while tradwives homeschool the kids. yes it's hard work but I want to raise kids to work hard and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Now everyone is insane, everyone is a snitch, and it just isn’t much fun anymore.

my buddy is doing the same thing man, he lived in New York City for 27 years and has been talking about it forever and he finally made moves and moved to a farm this season as an apprentice. he told me he already knows he never wants to move back. hopefully I can get him on board with the commune because he should be able to teach us a lot after he's got a few more growing seasons under his belt. He's broke but after I make it I would pay him a good wage and all his expenses to help run the farm

because it's shitty. the majority of people in cities live for other people's prepackaged stories. all they aspire to is consuming the next highly marketed streamlined 'artisinal' experience, whether it be food, media, clothing, exercise, or parties. if you have ever lived a life free of that, you immediately feel ill to have to interact with people who have made cities "their" environment. it's like they've been lobotomized and can only react to the most base stimulii.
at least in rural settings you have a chance to find people who are not like this (however there are a lot of worthless rural people, so please don't misunderstand me)

Because country living is the fucking best. Running a farm and doing hard physical work then getting home in the evening and chilling knowing that all your labor has been expended for yourself, on your own land, is amazing.
Getting to know the local wildlife beyond "oh there's a bird" and having them all recognise you feels amazing and gives you a sense of place.
There is a naturalness to working with the land that fulfils a deep spiritual need, and there is a freedom to being in a wide open space that does the same. Mentally ill urban screen addicts will never understand.

BUT!!!! it’s also an ARCADE like when we were kids, so we can play awesome VIDEO GAMES, without dumb kids bothering us. speaking of which megan and i have finally decided to tie the knot- literally -we’re both getting snipped tomorrow at the hospital, that way we can save money to spent more on ourselves and our FURBABIES. i’m fuckin JACKED man, i’m gonna SLAM this craft beer and pop open another one!!

I don't want to participate in society anymore because honestly, no one wants me here. I live in a city and during the entire BLM protests, there were fireworks going off 24/7. That is enough to tell me that any person who does not have a dark skin color is not wanted in any city. It is what it is, and honestly, I can't even blame them. The more I study about how the country was founded, the more I realize the USA was founded by rich people who were just as corrupt as the kings in England they were trying to escape from. It is all a lie. All the big power players all talked with each other, were all big lawyers, and all propagated a life where class warfare is the standard. All men were not created equal when America was founded, and today it is even more apparent.

The only way to win is to not participate. I wish you all luck. God speed.

This is very true. Moved to NYC from the northern New England and for the most part the lifestyles people aspire to in the city are just sad. Distrusting neighbors and spending out the ass for shit that looks good on insta but sucks in person. There's some greatness hidden away but so many just seem deluded into thinking that polishing off a social media profile makes up for the shit reality of city life. It sucks unless you're rich.

I think for younger guys, hell a lot of people now, are starting to realize just how frail and barely put together or world really is. This shit is held together with tape and paper clips people. Its a miracle that anything works. You realize that people are just people. That all the things you count on to function in this society rely on people waking up to their alarm clock, getting ready, and heading into work to do a good job. So that way you can have your internet, your coffee, your IV bag next to your hospital bed. Nothing happens on accident and there is no "magic" that make things work. And its all ran by the same drowsy, neglected, sad fucks across the world. Now we see how fragile all of that is and its tempting to run for the hills, live off grid, be self reliant.

Nah, I know a lot of really lucky people who LOVE what they do, and they've made good choices with their lives. They're happy.
those are the lucky ones, the ones that get to bargain with their circumstances and carve out a meaning for their life that they're happy with. Some people really are content just working at the local Costco Bakery making cakes and that is "just all" for them.
The world is full of people like that. People satisfied with the deals they've made. It isn't sad unless they feel like they've been screwed out of something...and most of them are, or have been.
Its more sad then ever right now because we've been stagnant and rehashing the same technology for nearly 40 years now. We went from geocities to myspace to facebook. etc. We've been repackaging the same technology over, and over and over with better integration and UIs. How much different is AOL from Snapchat groups, really?
So the people who WANT more, can tell that it is out there but they can't get it. Because we need to innovate. We need to make the tools simpler then they are. And that is EXACTLY what we are doing now with industry and "The fourth Industrial Revolution".

So it won't be bad much longer. For those who want more.

I only need a cool $200k and I'd be set for life. I have a 1 acre property already that has a decent size 8 car warehouse on it. I could renovate it to a large living space for less than $50k and then use the other $150k to make 4 or 5 small 2 bedroom houses on it, rent them out for $1k a month and easily live off the $60k a year. There's already a small farm in the back so I'd be set to grow a few crops. Just live out my days being a small time farmer in a smallish town, tending my flock, which would include a few small families. I don't need a lot to make it and I'm not looking to buy a yacht or private island. Just live a comfy small farm life.

Likewise, anon. I just want enough to own property outright. It would give me the flexibility to work freelance and invest more into skills development instead of needing to grind away at a secure but poorly compensated job every day.

very nice anon, just the fact that you have already planned all that proves you are leagues ahead from other cucks on this board.
i already own a 1 hactares and 300 meters farm that my boomer mom is squatting on,a 173m2 flat in the middle in the city that i could rent out for a nice salary and my mom is planing to sell her 2 properties (about 80.000 usd) and give me to money so i can buy 2 flats to rent out.
so i think if i rent out the farm for 300/month,and the flats for like 400+250+250/month for a total of 1200 usd a month i could live the NEET king life without even working.
inb4 that won't be enough ! : the median salary here is 400 usd.

It's a question of "fuck you" money, once you have that there's really little in the way to limit your mobility. I'd say a nice rural with temperate weather and a nearby airport with a depressed economy would be the best. Somewhere back East. The culture and people are better having tasted some semblance of legitimate adversity, there's more social currency in places where people have actually been hurt, or poor. Cities have a more diverse bent to them so you've got success and poor and all the stigmas attached to classist ideals, the cliques it breeds. whereas in those depressed areas everyone has had the wind taken out of their sails.

Nothing in this world is worth having if you can't share it. I don't envy the ultrawealthy for that fact, the degree of prudence they use and their social leverage is intrinsically damaging to their relations outside their bubble of "made it" friends, which are probably just more of the same backstabbing wretches that they have to deal with outside their direct demographic. It's why I value community and modesty, making it is just the means to amplify my ability to positively impact the world and help teach people to fish.

Urban life is purgatory. It's not how we were meant to live. We're so disconnected from nature and from each other that half the population ends up on some sort of pills just to be able to cope with day to day life, and the other half probably should be but are smart enough to know that the pills just make things worse. The only real solution is to leave this all behind and live a more connected and sustainable lifestyle, closer to nature, closer to our friends and family, in closer-knit communities.
