You're not getting the point.
The options prices should NOT be the estimator for volatility. It's fundamentally wrong because you are assuming a model for the underlying returns (because that's what allows you to estimate which vol yields the observed option price). Usually it's BlackScholesMerton (which everyone and their grandma knows it's fucking wrong as it could be).

You would be better off studying the distribution of the underlying returns.

Als, you're gong against yourself, because you previously said I had described how to calculate vol (when I mentioned doing it directly from the returns of the underlying) and afterwards you said it's calculated fro option prices.

I think expectations of a market dump from bad GDP reporting are overstated, right now estimates are running 30-35%, financial institutions and hedge funds know this and I think as long as we don't see Q2 GDP report post anything above a 35% decline there won't be a big sell off. AZN will probably have good guidance and EPS, maybe UPS as well.

Have to keep in mind that most of the GDP decline is tied to certain sectors that people already know, and have known for months, are losing money. Market tends to react in big swings to unpleasant surprises, and unless a new sector joins in on the GDP losses I don't see a big dump happening since hedges and tutes have been trimming their losers over the months now.

idk if this is the right place to ask this or if i should ask on the tech board or something, but...

is there a way i can set up orders to automatically be entered with ThinkOrSwim? i basically want to have a predetermined risk and take profit (a stop and a limit order) based on a multiple of the ATR whenever i enter a trade. is this possible to do, and if so how? like say the ATR is a dollar and i buy a stock at $10, and i want to do 1xATR in risk and 1xATR i sell half, i want to enter the trade and once entered TOS just automatically puts in the OCO for me, is this possible or would i need to code some python to do it?

In a free market, only market forces should be harming rivals, the participants are not supposed to directly interact. If you want to hurt your rival, you make a better product. Arguably, if you can't beat your rival, you buy them out (but that already goes somewhere outside the purview of proper free market capitalism because it separates the board and the company: a board will be happy to retire on hundreds of millions when coming from not much and thus will agree to a deal that will destroy the company, its products, and its employees, whereas free market capitalism only works when the two entities -- board and company -- are joined, so that they would only agree to sell out if it's in the interest of the company).

Never had to return anything to Micro Center, but they are hard to beat. Knowledgeable staff and just about anything electronics, I believe the last thing I purchased there were some DuPont connectors, I don't know of any other big brick and mortar store(besides Fry's) that carries that. I love Micro Center, there is no reason to buy from anyone else unless there are no locations near you, surprisingly they are usually cheaper than big names like Amazon too for certain items and often have amazing deals. Reminds me of a MSI RMA I had during the crypto boom, had to RMA my R9 390 but since they didn't have replacement inventory they offered me a gtx 1070 which was pretty sweet.

Depends on your risk tolerance, if you have a 500-1k you can afford to lose then throw in. Kodak is currently 2 dollars below its old price target of $34, with the recent government contract there hasn't been an update to its price target, so it's hard to say how high it will go. There will be a lot of people who sell/take profits in the near future, but how many more people will FOMO and buy those shares? Are hedge funds/institutes buying more shares? Don't really know.

Personally I'm staying out of it, if I can't give myself a reasonable estimation of how much it'll moon I'm not going to FOMO into a position that's already increased 600% over two days, because when it crashes it could crash hard.

Hope they get broken up. I would buy the shit out of the broken up parts that make sense in that case. Google's programmers and ui/ux people are absolutely fucking awful, and their researchers are mediocre. However there's a good culture of letting teams make new features even if they might not turn profitable and just letting it run and see what happens. Breaking google up would surely result in very strong segments that will no longer have to deal with the craptastic political shit and the programmers/ui/ux nightmare.

>amazon
Good if regulated. I actually can't find a reason to really dislike amazon compared to any other big company. They're the only ones that seem to provide an actual desirable service without making it mandatory through deceitful, underhanded, political manipulation and borderline illegal business dealings. Their endorsement of counterfeits/knockoffs and politics definitely need to be banned but the rest is quite good.

Nothing wrong with walled garden app store or locking down the device to refuse any other appstore, but lots wrong with preventing devs with so much as trying to make an app without paying for a license for not only a specific development platform but also the whole computer (which is itself overpriced on purpose).
Another thing that's wrong is shadowbanning things they don't like. Either ban or don't ban, and tell specifically which rule was violated if any.
Worldwide android market is about 75%, USA and such it's 45/55 split.
There's no logical or legal reason why apple should be forced to accept your app though, and google play store has similar restrictivity anyway.

So what is the first point of contact for a non Bog like me to get news about DFC loans? They have a Twitter or something lol? I don't think their next big loan will get the same level of fomo stock swell as this one, but I'd like to get in early and set a stop loss next time

And that's still OK. M$ doesn't allow you to install non-signed drivers either. Hell, UEFI doesn't let you run non-signed OSs and UEFI is forced down every mobo manufacturer's throat (and is 100% wangblows-centric and fails to respect the actual standard).

You know that's a lie so I'm not going bother keeping this up in the next thread since you're dishonest. Windows 10 has an Advanced Boot Menu that allows installing unsigned drivers.

There aren't many publicly traded gun manufacturers but most are doing fine financially. Remington has been bought and sold a few times now by people with the sole intention of squeezing every cent of value out of their formerly good reputation.

>if you like the company, it means it has good fundamentals.
There's a acceptable price range which the stock can have with the majority of the market paticipants being ok with. This price range depends on other stocks of the same sector aka it depends on the average(in terms of PE or cashflow ratio) of the sector.
If the the focus of of the market changes from one sector to the next the price of the stocks of the previously focused sector will go down but the stock within that sector will mostly behave the same in relation to the average of that sector.(I'm not long enough on the market to have witnessed this but it makes sense). The PE ratio over time isn't constant either which supports my argument. My point is... Don't marry the stock. Practice some stoicism

Historical data is freely and easily accessible. Short of cataclysm events (see: 2000, 1987, 1969), what you describe doesn't really happen. Yes, sectors go faster or slower based on a variety of external effects, but that's a time you add more stocks to your portfolio, not a time to sell. You sell when the bubble starts being worryingly bubbly and you already have a solid handle on something else. Moreover, you're not selling the company, you're selling the whole sector, possibly with the intent to get back into the same company when the sector is behaving like it should again. Notice the 2 differences?
