that's nice, but do you realize your entire argument is basically PRICE MEMORY?
Guess who else America can rely on for protecting their national interests with made-in-USA semiconductors. Used to be GlobalFoundries but they're focusing on meeting demands for the larger node sizes now, they're not bothering to race anymore.
In the first place, Intel's fabs were mostly to meet their own needs rather than other companies anyways.
dont fucking bet on Intel if your argument is US's national interests, do your DD first and you'll know that's not the case.

price memory lol. Sure if you're just aiming for a short term deadcat bounce.

You're right that this doesn't show a causal line between black people and a lack of high tech, but it's still sad to see. White people then still had optimism in their group's prospects for the future. "It will be like now, but better!" they thought. They couldn't predict that the social revolutions they allowed in the 60s were incompatible with a future that was "like now but better". Because little now is like it was then; this becomes radically apparent in white people's hopes for their urban spaces.

Catalyst run ups. It's simple but not quite easy.
Buy 4-8 weeks before an important event.
Phase 1/2/3 data, PDUFA, conferences.
If they're low on cash wait for offering and try to load below or at offering price. They very rarely drop below offering price. Lame drugs like antibiotics don't get run ups. AMD, cancer, migraine, rare disease,... are runners.
ATNM is scheduled for Q4 but data can drop any time. That's why it's up so much. They will go much higher until '21. I try to avoid data though. Only run ups for me.

Price memory is usually a valid argument except in Intel's case it's not like all the tech ETFs and indexes are randomly going to drop it. Same with retail investors. A 16% drop is justified and by the way, the company is still turning a profit. And we all know there are companies out there that should be absolutely fucking bankrupt right now but aren't (cough airlines, cough cruiselines), worry about price memory on those guys first. i don't expect Intel to be gone forever purely because of antitrust.
However, I don't have enough confidence in them to get any stock/calls right now. Their best bet right now is to outsource chips from TSM, what does that tell you is going to happen to their ~15 foundries (worth billions each) in the long run? They have not shown any confidence that they can catch up to TSM/AMD, they may still have better transistor density than TSM but their yields are absolute shit in comparison. I don't even remember their foundries supplying chips ro anyone other than for their own shit.

but then again it's not like the general market will understand the DD behind semiconductors anyways. You're right in that their earnings were good so short-term, just reaching a stalemate with AMD (2021 though) should be good enough.

I don't think a lot of /smg/ really understand how fucking lucrative the leading semiconductors are. TSM wasn't affected in the end about losing Huawei (over 10% of their revenue at that time) because their other customers rushed for that freed up capacity, and that was what convinced me to finally buy TSM and not give a fuck about its "geopolitics risk".
in retrospect, TSM really only stands to benefit more with increasing US-China tensions (short of some retarded move by China to try and invade Taiwan).

You can turn 10% back to 100% but you can't turn 0% back to 100%, cut your loss

People ragging on Intel are probably the same ones buying TSM and AMD right now hoping for a 50% upward gain from there when it's literally easier to catch a 50% upward gain from Intel's $50 crash via LEAPs (not even a dip here, I'll say it). AMD is doing great but you have to realize the stock didn't go up another 10% today even with additional bad news from Intel for a reason. Because that shit is priced in, just like how Intel's downfall with the 7nm/5nm area is priced in right now at $50. Think like a jew, retards.. I'll see you guys later when my $55c for 1/15/21 prints like a mofo and you're stuck waiting for AMD or TSM to go to $110 for your 50% gains.

DO AMERICANS REALLY?

>> No.20740279

>Speaking of data center CPUs, Intel is still the leader with over a 95% market share. In the third quarter, Intel’s DCG (Data Center Group) revenue rose 4% year-over-year as a 6% decline in server CPU volumes was partially offset by a 9% increase in ASP (average selling price).

>Unlike Intel, AMD’s server CPU volumes rose over 50% sequentially, indicating that AMD gained market share from Intel. The data showed that AMD’s x86 server CPU market share rose by 90 basis points sequentially to 4.3% in the third quarter. Su stated that AMD is on track to achieve the target of double-digit server CPU market share by mid-2020.

Intel has a 95%+ market share for data center CPUs and it's not like everybody will randomly just fucking switch over, these guys have contracts for years out. And Su's positive outlook to achieve double-digit CPU market is honorable, they deserve the increased stock price. But the main point here is that Intel isn't worth a $45 company in a world where profits and market reach matters a lot. And that's why they're okay with outsourcing shit, sometimes you have to make some radical decisions to keep going. And yeah, their management and business practices are frankly trash tier as well but at this point think of them as "too big to fail" and you have more potential gains from Intel LEAPs than TSM/AMD holds (after it already pumped 15%).

It's easier for me to average up soon since my cost basis is basically 40% under current valuations, but do your own DD into the future of semiconductors. If it hits whatever price target you have on it, then just buy. Previously (when it was $74), I thought it was easily worth more than $70 so I was just waiting for a pullback so average up. Of course that's all down the trash now that these Intel-TSM news popped out of nowhere, right after it just ucking pumped.

I mean we were definitely talking about how Intel's best hopes might be to outsource chips, but who fucking knew it would happen literally the next trading day, after Intel has continued to be stubborn and retarded against AMD for 2 years. Why suddenly now just after a pump?

the next best catalyst, other than next earnings, is for news on the US Arizona plant. TSM needs incentives for them to actually build a true cutting-edge (much more expensive than the $12 billion or something that was initially planned for the plant, never mind expensive US wages) considering the plant will take a couple years to finish (so building just a plant for 5 nm right now will make it obsolete once it's actually complete)

i'll probably just buy MSFT instead of TSM at this rate though

I'm worried I chose too close a exp for my $52c for Aug 7th but INTC is so oversold right now there's absolutely no way there isn't a small rally between now and then. i agree with your points but I'm not worried about the market share itself now that they're positioned to reach a stalemate with AMD.
Keep in mind that outsourcing to TSM is not as easy as it sounds though. Intel can't just shift their CPUs to TSM's processes, and a redesign will take time.
That's fine and all, they're basically fighting to keep their market share against AMD
*BUT* what i can't figure out right now is what they stand to lose with shifting away from their own foundries.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_manufacturing_sites
this isn't just about keeping their server market share against AMD.

personally I'd only be ok risking it if it dips past $46.

To my understanding the outsourcing was done years ago to sustain their server/desktop product demand while their in-house tried to pivot into moonshot projects in order to avoid the crash of demand in desktop PCs that the tech industry has been predicting for the past decade. So far, nothing intel has tried in IoT, gpus, and mobile computing has ever made it past the prototype stage, so now they have no choice but to rely on their oursourced foundries since they're so fucking behind.

Literally just trying to help you guys make it.

Remember the Big Short and those two young dudes? Those guys made it big when they started out with their first trade on Capital One. The stock shed 60% of its value over 2 days when it was rumored that there was internal fraud going on among its directors. They did some research and decided that the company would not go down and held a future (this means returning profits for shareholders in modern times, really) so they got two-year LEAPs and went from $26k to $522k on that one trade.

So you can apply that to Intel here. Be greedy when others are fearful.. but whatever. You guys can stick to buying NAK and 14 shares of AMD at $69.5 hoping it goes to $100 someday.
