Sure, it's not decentralized yet. Sure, the wallet was hacked through a third party plugin. Sure, the founders are arrogant. Sure, there was a lot of unjustified hype even when the product wasn’t nearly ready.

But anons, you have to look at the bigger picture here. Bitcoin also had centralized protection against 51% attacks in the first years. Bitcoin even had a critical security flaw in 2010 that they managed to fix just in time. So many wallets have been hacked. The internet was also not built in one day.

IOTA is literally eating all other crypto's as we speak. That is why there is so much hate against it and why so many people want to make the project look bad. DYOR and look at the partnerships, look at the academia involved, look at the community, look at the amount of adoption already taking place. These are all incredibly smart people with a passion to make the world a better place with DLT. Not out of greed, but passion. This project has the same atmosphere and dynamics as Bitcoin had in the early days.

No more transaction fees, unlimited scalability, no more opposite incentives between users and stakers/miners. History is being made in front of your eyes.

Miners/stakers and big players in the space want you to believe that Web 3.0 will consist of a plethora of tokens because that is what they make money from, while in reality IOTA will be the one and only trust layer of the internet. Many people have been blinded by greed and missing what is really happening behind the DeFi bubble. People will see soon enough.

Take this from someone who has been in this space since 2011. Do with this information what you want. You can thank me later.

They can all do everything, and better than the competition.

The hack and centralization worry me, but at least those can be fixed in the future.

No, bro, I held this for 4 years. I was the biggest believer.

I missed out on Chainlink because I was arrogant like you are now. Trust me this coin is shitty, the community is shitty, the development is shitty and you will get hacked again. Sorry bro, get out while you still can. Ethereum is going to scale to 15k TPS with smaller fees, and when it does Iota will have lost.

Iota had its chance during the bear market to turn heads, but everyone's building on block chain now. DAG's are synonymous with scams now. (FANTOM, BYTEBALL, IOTA)

Also the coin is texhnically worthless since you can send transactions without IOTA. So doesn't really make much sense aside a machine sending 0.0001c to another machine for...what would even be a use case for this?

>> No.20703389

>>20703059

Ethereum is 2-4 years away from a functional mainnet that will still have transaction fees.

In 2 years IOTA will literally be everywhere. I'm sorry to hear that you missed out on Chainlink, dropping IOTA would cause you to miss out again.

Also, it's not true what your saying. You can send data transactions without IOTA, but you cannot send value transactions without IOTA. IOTA is simply the most efficient and effective way to transfer value on the network. That is what gives it value. Also, with colored tokens (coming this fall) there will be a lot of buying pressure because in order to issue your own token you need to buy IOTA tokens and 'colour' their hash to your liking.

so, please remind me ... why would anybody run a node and execute your code for free again?

>> No.20707310

>> 20706936

the idea is that free data and free value transfer are an incentive in itself for companies, governments, hobbyists etc. to start running a node. If you're a company that needs a lot of transactions it makes perfect sense to run a node in a network that allows you to do that for free.

If you are still in blockchain mindset this may sound like bullshit to you, but the hundreds of companies that are already using IOTA and running their own nodes would beg to differ with you.

> If you are still in blockchain mindset this may sound like bullshit to you, but the hundreds of companies that are already using IOTA and running their own nodes would beg to differ with you.
how does that relate to blockchain? Why wouldn't the exact same argument hold for any PoS block chain just as well?

>> No.20707387

>>20706936
The end-goal of IOTA is that everyone can run a node with almost no requirements.
Check out STMicroelectronics, they are working on the hardware in that regard to building low-end hardware which will be able to run nodes on the IOTA network.
You don't need an incentive. The incentive in that regard is that you don't have to pay fees for anything, like it should be anyways.

IOTA is making big moves but quietly. The Foundation doesn't focus on hype or marketing to retail investors (they do attempt to establish channels with dominant industry players). It's an insanely giga-brain project with lofty goals. It is NOT guaranteed that they will succeed, but if they do, IOTA could go parabolic.

I'd recommend a suicide stack of 2,000-5,000 MIOTA for anyone serious about a diversified (and not just meme) crypto portfolio. It is a longer-term hold, but the window for building a reasonable stack will probably be closing rapidly as the new year approaches.

I agree with you that the IOTA community has an air of arrogance around it. Don't let that fool you away from the project though.

The project generally attracts people that are capable of seeing the bigger picture and looking beyond the many imperfections the project still has.

What do you think Bitcoin looked like in 2010?

Most IOTA supporters have grasped the scope and vision of this project, and have come to the realization that this technology is - once finished - far superior to anything else in blockchain space. This echoes in their communication and is often perceived as arrogance.
