https://www.adn.com/business-economy/2020/07/23/as-a-major-federal-environmental-review-comes-to-a-close-six-things-to-know-about-the-pebble-mine-proposal/
>What happens when the Army Corps’ environmental review of the mine proposal is finished?

>The report will address the project’s environmental impacts and will serve as the baseline document for state and federal agencies considering giving parts of the project the go-ahead.

>The Corps, at least 30 days after the report’s release, could use it to issue a permit under the Clean Water Act, allowing damage to wetlands. But the Corps could also reject Pebble’s application, or issue a permit with conditions.

>Two other federal permits will be needed.

>The U.S. Coast Guard is weighing a permit for a bridge over the Newhalen River, said Mike Heatwole, a Pebble Limited spokesman.

>The Coast Guard will join the Corps in a final decision, said David Hobbie, chief of the Corps’ regulatory division in Alaska.

>The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement must also weigh a right-of-way permit for the subsea natural gas pipeline crossing Cook Inlet.

>The three permits, if issued, will conclude the federal permitting process for the project, Heatwole said.

>A roughly three-year state permitting process would follow federal approval, he said.

>After that, construction is expected to take about four years.

The thing dragging Intel's stock price aren't going to be in their earnings reports.
The stock market is concerned with their future earnings in most of their business share , which is cpu chips for PC's and servers. Basically they have been dragging years behind on the fab side; they are stuck on 14nm for years now after failing to get their 10nm/7nm fabs working; meanwhile TSM is making 7nm chips for AMD and working towards 5nm, and Samsung is working ahead towards 4nm production. If (not when) Intel gets 7nm to work in 2021/2022, they will still be years behind. So there is a real possibility of them going from number one in silicon sales recently, to being unable to sell any competitive chips pretty soon (catastrophic).
You can read about it more on tech sites instead of financial sites (also there should be a /g/ thread up about it). What they said on the earnings call today was very very bad, semiconductor market is so ruthless. They've already been struggling for years now, they are out of time and they are bleeding market share, and their diversity hire engineers just can't compete against Taiwan/Korea/China

Boy that picture takes me back to heady days of 2016/2017 when I was wildly trading lithium and cobalt penny stocks. A lot of them were exploration stage; meaning they had a right to take core samples from certain areas but had no mine, no equipment to put a functioning mine together yet, and scrounging for funding to stay alive until they hopefully hit the pay dirt. I made and lost so much money on those it's... well, it's part of the reason I don't do penny stocks or even small caps anymore.

Junior miners is a game for the very young or very old. If you are a gambler than it gives you all the volatility that the past few months has been for the general market. But its also fairly consistent if you are managing a position over years.
I think anyone targeting these small cap miners should be focusing on producers first, especially silver. Silver had one of the worst bear markets of any commodity for nearly 12 years and anyone that survived that period without just becoming a gold miner instead is as battle tested as they come. It is also where the hedge funds are going to go first for that precise reason.

Short version and overly simplified
Fiscal printing: Imports are immediately more seductive, you want to give up your currency (USD) to foriegn markets. This drives down foreign demand.
Monetary printing: Same effect but more focused on investors and usually on longer time scales. Since the USD is a global reserve currency (for better or worse), it also has a tendency to affect commodity prices like iron, oil, or copper which can cause deflationary effects on countries that are major exporters of such.

I also forgot that another difference is between affecting the prices of real goods (computers, cars, clothes, etc.) versus financial goods (bonds, equities, IOUs, futures, etc.).
Fiscal printing weighs more heavily on the first. Monetary printing on the second. Which is also partly what is responsible for the time lag.

Let's put it like this. The MM's have been parking their capital back into the market since April for fear of FOMO after "V-Shaped Recovery". That the Fed and now congress feel the need to amp even more stimulus is a bind.
If this is because of deflation risk and its not enough you want to start moving out of stocks anyway. If it is enough then you want to start building positions in inflationary assets that are comparatively cheaper for the moment like real estate or commodities (not just boomer rocks).
It might happen now because the tech companies were used/perceived as "safe haven" investments. Now that the major earnings are done, the shifts are taking place. And by major earnings I meant MSFT and AAPL, not TSLA.

Yesterday's events (or lack thereof) have really made me realize, it's really the market movers that decide whatever the fuck they want to do - and none of us ultimately matter in the long run. If they want to pull everything out and rotate to a different sector they absolutely can and will leave everybody else in the dust.

Commodity cycles are measured in years, sometimes even slightly more than a decade.
You diversify with a commodity like you do the stock market for much the same reason it just takes a different form. You hold futures or something that contains futures contracts (they move first). You hold the physical commodity itself if possible (true for metals, since you directly control the price you try to sell). You hold the larger producers (they move next). And then you hold the more speculative future producers (juniors, in mining). You can try to shift between them as the cycle moves but you likely aren't educated or patient enough to do it.
This is what the oil stock holders are learning painfully right now.
