Then as every hour went by, it turned greener, greener and at the end of that day, it was Greener than green peas.

Futures really don't matter if you're investor as you put your money into companies that will 10x in the future, regardless of it's current price (see Tesla).

That's bullshit. Tesla Semi is 190k base, not 200k. 1.15 kWh per mile, not 2 kWh. The payload revenue lost is just made up to make them look comparable when half the miles traveled are empty miles and the other half are not always full. They assumed the range of a BEV semi would be 500 miles when it's 620 miles.

Most importantly, it ignores that natural gas is terrible for the environment and RNG is a meme.

Chart first. If it's in a long term down trend I'm not interested unless there is a very good reason to believe it may reverse. Second, positive or negative average EPS over the past couple years? What is their track record on missing or beating earnings (use tradingview charts for this and just click on the 'E' circles to quickly check)? What is the P/E ratio in relation to similar companies in the same sector? Are there more bullish companies trading in this sector or is this the best one? If there an ETF for the sector and how does it perform in comparison to the company I am interested in? Is the ETF a better choice? etc. You can deep dive on financials if you like; how much debt, burn rate, how much cash, is the moat reasonable or are they running on razor thin margin? How little or much of this you bother to do depends on how long you intend to hold the trade.

Elon is that you? Lol.

1) It's only capable of 500 miles. If you're going uphill, stuck in traffic or have to keep your trucking running because it's freezing....500 miles is clearly enough. Let alone, some semi's can travel for 600+ miles.

2) You need the infrastructure in place to charge these semi's. Expensive. Plus it takes 30 precious minutes to fully charge it, which cuts into the driver's drive time. If you plan on letting the driver stay the night, you then need to build it in a truck stop or have facilities available for the truck driver (Like showers).

...or you could use the infrastructure available....Just sayin'...

I think the goals are incremental. They aren't targeting long haul trucking, just yet, more like from the ship to the ware house or the train yard, or from a major hub to nearby towns. It would probably be easy to convince train yards, harbors, and large warehouses to install a few high power charging stations. The real game changer will be automated driving though.

The problem is the infrastructure for Natural Gas is already in place. Like I said,

Amazon
FedEx
UPS

All have natural gas in place, along with truck stops like Pilot have built natural gas fueling stations in their bigger city areas.

Hyliion is going to enter the EV market the fastest. There's no debating that.

Also, what's to stop another automated driving firm from partnering with Hyliion? Tesla stands no chance at that point.

>> No.20640762

>>20640522
>or you could use the infrastructure available
What available infrastructure? 700 stations is nothing when distributed across the US and not all of them allow trucks. It costs a fraction of the amount of money to put in a superchargers at a truck stop than to put in natural gas fueling. Truck stops will partner with Tesla to drive business.
>Plus it takes 30 precious minutes to fully charge it,
Truckers are forced to stop after a certain amount of time driving, that time is less than the truck can drive for so there's no issue. Electric semis will take the short and medium range market first. Most drivers will go back to their homes at night.
>It's only capable of 500 miles
That's fully loaded. Again, half the miles are empty and the range is greatly improved.

The chart you posted was bullshit. They're including differences in payload capacity as ownership costs when it doesn't actually cost anything and excluding actual ownership costs like maintenance. Tesla semi will require much less maintenance. One of the reason CNG never took off was because they need more vehicle maintenance and different facilities to service them because they're practically a loaded bomb. The fuel is stored compressed, unlike gasoline.

NKLA is like a combined version of the worst of CNS and BEV. No existing infrastructure, 4 million dollars per fueling station, and three times less efficient than batter electric if producing hydrogen with energy from the grid.

BEV semis will at least dominate the short range market where battery weight isn't that a big consideration and the base Tesla Semi will be 70k cheaper upfront than the ERX. What isn't clear is how much autonomous driving will shake things up because the cost of paying a driver must be greater than the ownership cost differences between the ERX and Tesla Semi.

Regarding the semi truck debate, I was wrong on two things, one the efficiency is as originally stated in the comparison and two the number of empty miles is around 30% and not 50%.

I have however found the smoking gun. For 93% of trucks, the extra weight of batteries would not be a consideration, this heavily favors Tesla because it brings the ownership cost down to point where it's cheaper than the ERX not including maintenance which would also probably favor them.
