Warned /biz/ for several months to buy gold before it was too late. (https://i.warosu.org/biz/thread/19669109))

Gave /biz/ a list of silver junior stocks exactly one month ago which are up, on average, by 100% since then; one stock is up sixfold. (See picture.)

This is your last chance to get in at the bottom. I am telling you this for your own good. I don't want the young people here to keep throwing their lives away on crypto exit scams. This is your one real chance to turn your life around.

How do you invest in precious metals? Very easily. Buy the GDXJ or SILJ ETFs--that is all you have to do. Besides that, my favourite list of small-cap miners is as follows; but bear in mind that you should never put more than 1-3% of your net-worth into a small-cap miner:

Adriatic Metals
Alexco Resource
Almaden Minerals
Argonaut Gold
American Creek Resources
Aurcana Corp
Azimut Exploration
Americas Gold & Silver Corp
Avino Silver & Gold Mines
Bayhorse Silver
Bear Creek Mining
Black Tusk Resources
Bluestone Resources
Bonterra Resources
Callinex Mines
Chesapeake Gold
Defiance Silver
Discovery Metals
Dolly Varden Silver
Endeavour Silver
Euro Sun Mining
Excellon Resources
Fireweed Zinc
Goldquest Mining
Great Panther Mining
Highland Gold Mining
Hochschild Mining
Hummingbird Resources
Irving Resources
Karoka Resources
Kootenay Silver
Lion One Metals
Mako Mining
Marathon Gold
Mirasol Resources
McEwen Mining
Musgrave Metals
Newrange Gold
Nicola Mining
Northern Dynasty Metals
Perseus Mining
Precipitate Gold
Resolute Mining
Sabina Silver & Gold Corp
Silver Lake Resources
Silver One
Spanish Mountain Gold
Tinka Resources
Troilus Gold
Vangold Mining
Viscount Mining
Wallbridge Mining

Of these, my favourites are Discovery Metals, Silver One, Callinex Mines, Euro Sun Mining, Newrange Gold, McEwen Mining, Bluestone Resources, Wallbridge Mining.

*ahem*

Precious metal and their respective stocks are the biggest bubble on the planet. The price has gone way further than the inherent value of the metal for any useful applications and it's been hoarded for decades, creating a stockpile that will greatly lower the price if they ever start trying to sell it. The idea that a fucking piece of metal could possibility have use as a currency will die off with the baby boomers and the price of precious metal should drop to their true value.

In before a bunch of people cope posting and talking about it's use during an apocalyptic type situation. Guess what, if that ever happens people will trade useful objects and not stupid bricks of metal.

>Precious metal and their respective stocks are the biggest bubble on the planet

House prices are 8x earnings -- they should be 2.5x earnings.

P. E. ratios higher than ever before in human history - historic bubble in stocks.

Yields are now negative -- bubble in bonds.

All three of the above phenomena owing to artificially suppressed interest-rates.

Meanwhile, gold would have to triple to $4800 reach its ATH of $1900 in real times. Silver is even cheaper than gold, and should be at least double what it is worth now in relation to it, in order to return to a historically normal level; and mining stocks should be quadruple what they are.

The value of precious metals is that they preserve purchasing power and function as money, money being the foundation of civilization. They thrive in precisely the kind of environment which we are presently in -- high inflation and one of a currency crisis. Hence why people could buy mansions for a few hundred ounces of silver in Weimar Germany, and gold went up 25x in the 70s. In short, you are talking utter nonsense.

That doesn't mean anything, it's still a bubble regardless of if the bubble was bigger at one point. The bubble has existed for decades now, if not centuries. Stocks actually have metrics where you can prove or disprove that they are overvalued, metal doesn't really have any of that beyond what the industry will pay to use them and they've already cut the use of most precious metals down to only the most necessary applications. Read that again, precious metal actual has less use now, not more.
>P. E. ratios higher than ever before in human history
This isn't true. The Shiller PE is high but it has been much higher and it doesn't give the full picture because there are more stocks growing at a faster rate than the historical average.
>The value of precious metals is that they preserve purchasing power and function as money
Except it doesn't. They have no more value for the function of money than baseball trading cards. The vast majority of people won't except metal as payment. There are videos proving that if you offer people on the street $5 or an oz of sliver the majority of them take the money despite it being worth much less.

>...what? No that’s a silly thing but fun to talk about.

>Read that again, precious metal actual has less use now, not more.

The use was just explained to you. Money. Precious metals are the only sure way to store and exchange our labour, which is a thing of incalculable advantage. They move us past the barter system, and lay the foundation for civilization. Fiat currencies can't do store labour; they get debased. 98% of their purchasing power is already gone. Cryptocurrencies are ten a penny, and contain no uniquely intrinsic properties. No. Gold and silver are the standard which is universally agreed upon; always has been, always will be.

The gold to silver ratio existing doesn’t mean it’s a valuable tool. It doesn’t make sense to me why you’d think it necessary to revert. It’s not exactly a substitutable good like coal for oil or wheat for rice. I’m sure there’s some sort of gold/wheat ratio or silver/wood ratio if you look back through history.

This metric fascinates me as I don’t see the logic.

Gold and silver are found in the ground, roughly, at a ratio of 1:12. That is also what their ratio of value has tended to be historically. The past 100 years or so are an anomaly; and, even within them, 1:90 is extremely abnormal. It should be at least 1:50. Manipulation by the banks is why silver has been suppressed for so long. See Chris Marcus, Arcadia Economics on Youtube, and his book The Big Silver Short.

>I’m sure there’s some sort of gold/wheat ratio or silver/wood ratio if you look back through history.

Precisely, and it remains fairly constant. See what John Williams has to say about this. It is a worn out trope repeated time and time again that you could buy a toga with a gold ounce in ancient Rome, just as you can buy a fine suit with a gold ounce in modern-day London. Over time, commodities tend to preserve their relative value to a remarkable degree.

what an ounce of gold or silver will buy you is fairly stable throughout the ages. John Williams has shown this. Sometimes it buys you is somewhat more, at other times somewhat less; but there is a rough constancy in it which is ever-present.

>Nothing is stored in it, only what someone else will pay for it which is no different than any other currency, except it isn't a currency because no one actually uses it like that outside of the PM market.

Are you aware of the fact that the dollar has lost 99% of its value against gold since the Federal Reserve was formed? That is true preservation of one's labour. Your paper dollar from fifty years ago is worthless, but your gold ounce is just as useful.

>Try to pay someone in sliver then. No one would actually trade with you if you offered them gold or sliver instead of fiat money.

Only because the government forces people to use fiat. Fiat is in circulation only by the threat of violence, because it is useful to the pernicious ends of governments. >Are you aware of the fact that the dollar has lost 99% of its value against gold
The dollar is temporary mechanism of trade and isn't considered an investment. If you want to retain value with fiat, you have to use it to do something else. You can't do anything with gold, you're not able to buy stocks or bonds with it without converting into cash first. If people just wanted their money to retain value, they would put it into a GIC, they wouldn't be buying PMs because they still swing widely even if they roughly have the same value throughout the centuries. There are plenty of people who bought in a certain and it's now worth a fraction of the amount, go tell them that you can still by a suit with it and watch as they spit in your face. Their labor was not preserved.

A bubble is anything where people have an inflated sense of the value of something that rapidly drops at one point, it's not just a reference to stock market bubbles. There are literally tens of thousands of items and goods that have a fraction of the value they once had. Fur would be a good example because it was also heavily traded for most of history and it is now worth very little to most people.

>There are plenty of people who bought in a certain and it's now worth a fraction of the amount

Gold is about to break its ATH from 2011, so you are wrong about that. It already has done so in every other currency, and it is going to do so in the dollar presently. Gold always retains its purchasing-power over time, even when those in positions of authority do all they can to suppress it.

You say that "stocks or bonds" preserve value. Let us address bonds first. In a high inflation environment with low yields, such as we have now, or such as we had in the 70s, bonds are worthless. Inflation was so bad in the 70s that you bought a bond for $100,000, and got back the equivalent of $50,000 when you were done. They were jokingly referred to as "certificates of confiscation." As for stocks, they can crash to zero at any time; but gold never crashes to zero. It might go down temporarily, but it always comes up again, and reasserts its place among, and relation to, other tangible things.

There's no telling. If the dam collapses, which is a possibility, it could collapse over night. I don't think it will, but it's possible. If they manage to get everything under control as far as the flooding goes, the collapse will probably take longer due to their main issue being a food shortage, which could take months to show an effect.

GIC is still in fiat, It's the same currency. we're seeing a flight to quality - evident in the rise of DXY and now its fall might be indicating a reversion to prior local confidence or a flight to other currencies/investments. If the manipulation and perceived devaluation of local currency (or all currencies) exists, then a dual system will emerge where the superior currency is hoarded and the inferior is used for transactions. guess what's superior?

The first random website I click on:

"A bubble is an economic cycle characterized by the rapid escalation of asset prices followed by a contraction."

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bubble.asp#:~:text=A%20bubble%20is%20an%20economic,driven%20by%20exuberant%20market%20behavior.

Observe the words "rapid," "contraction," and the phrase "economic cycle" there.

But let us take your definition of a bubble in any event. Who says that fur is "now worth very little to most people?" That is untrue to say. Fur still has value to many people. Perhaps less value than it once had in certain periods and in certain nations, but that is all. But Gold, for its part, has value over all ages and in all nations, with almost no exceptions. This is because it performs an essential function, i. e. to serve as money.

How are you going to trade in gold if they don't even have a scale or know the current value of the metal? Why would they accept something that is fluctuating every minute which they are then going to have to convert into a local currency just to do anything with it? It's not like crypto, it isn't easy to convert and they would have to physically take the gold to a buyer and pay them a exchange fee. Unless you're giving them more than it's worth, they have no reason to accept it.

>Gold is about to break its ATH from 2011, so you are wrong about that.
The history of gold doesn't only go back to 2011. Again, people have bought gold only to find it was worth a fraction of the amount when they went to do anything with it.
>Gold always retains its purchasing-power over time
You're no longer making the same argument, your original argument was that it had roughly the same purchasing power, as much as something that can be worth 1/10th of what you bought it for can. Without the "roughly" bit, your argument is terrible.
>You say that "stocks or bonds" preserve value
For the vast majority of history bonds have kept up or exceeded inflation. Stocks go to zero if the company cannot pay their debts, otherwise the underlying assets have inherit value that is reflected in the share price.
>It might go down temporarily, but it always comes up again
This is just a fallacy argument. Historic price movements don't mean that PM will always retain value. I already made the case for why they are becoming less useful and how people will start to lose their faith in it as some form of secondary currency.

Fur prices have fallen greatly since its peak when people were risking life and limb to trap beavers in a uncharted land with people constantly trying to murder them. Fur now is a niche industry and most people don't see value in it. It once had value for insulation purposes but that got replaced all but in the coldest of climates with people living traditionally. Just pick any number of examples instead of fur.
