Imagine you want to buy out the entire supply of ore on a realm so that you can set whatever price you want. Say you're on a low-population realm and there's a "wall" that looks like this:

I could spent 17k gold vacuuming up the entire supply. Then I could set the price at like 200 if I wanted. If my competition notices what I'm doing, they can troll me by undercutting me with 1000 stacks of 99 or something so I can't get past the 100 wall. Either I will run out of gold first or they will run out of supply. Think of this like support and resistance, with the stacks and prices being level 2 market data, the bids and the asks.

Now let's say you're on a high population realm where it looks like this:

This would be more akin to a high-volume stock during regular trading hours.
