1. Skills/knowledge to survive - what to do and how to use the things you have hoarded
2. Water (filtering/purifying)
3. Warmth (clothing/blankets/shelter/fire)
4. Food (storage/gardening/fishing/hunting/cooking)
5. Safety (self-defence skills, firearms etc)
6. Health/sanitation (medicine, first aid/wound care, disinfectants, hygiene/toothpaste/soaps, toilet paper)
7. Lightsource (solar/crank flashlight, candles, etc)
8. Construction & repair supplies (cloth patches, thread, needles, rope/cord, woodworking tools, axes, landscaping tools, etc)
9. Entertainment/Barter goods (cards, board games, books, precious metals)

1-4 will keep you alive against natural elements
5-6 will keep you alive against large or small threats
7-9 are basic luxuries once you have the basic essentials

You should have two solutions to each problem in case one fails/spoils/breaks - eg. water purification tablets + water filter, matches + firesteel, tent + tarp, etc.

Notice that PM is at the bottom of the list. You can't eat gold or silver, and if there is a food shortage no one is going to trade you food for gold or silver either. If you are relying exclusively on PM to save you if society goes to hell then you're probably fucked, because by the time anyone else is actually willing to trade for your PM you will probably already be dead.

Ok anons, I've been stacking silver and collecting coins since I was in elementary school, back then I also picked through copper pennies and saved them, but at the time I figured that wasn't worth it and cashed them in (only had about $50 worth of pennies) but with the "coin shortage" and the likelihood of the penny being demonitized, is it now possibly worth it to start setting them aside? storage and access for alot of this is massively impacted if your displaced from your home and or vehicle.
would be helpful for any discussion of this include two seperate lists of kit, one for staying in place at home and one for bugging out if displaced by whatever reason
and possibly some tips on transitioning from home kit to bug out, as in what do you leave behind, what do you take, when bugging out
this could be a huge pitfall for many

A warning to any thinking of using credit cards. Getting a 0% intro card with cashback to offset the fee can be a smart way to build a stack up fast BUT read the card member agreement carefully.

Watch out for the penalty APRs that some of these cards have where it would revert from 0% to standard suddenly if you fail to make some minimum. Amex 0% cards for example do this, you gotta pay like 2% each month minimum or it reverts. I worry some of the younger anons will get caught by it, they bank (literally) on you not reading the fine print.

that's possible, but normies will never do it. gold is a store of value and has been for all of human history. silver is a speculative asset inferior to crypto in every way except that it won't ever go to 0. it's not going to make you rich either. it's a hobby which it seems like a lot of people here waste a lot of time on.

It's boils down to one question. What's different about our current precious metals bull market that's different to our previous ones? What's different now that wasn't so 9 years ago, and throughout all history? If you can't answer that, you're letting your emotions drive your investing, and you're picking teams instead of using your head.

silver stopped being money the moment that the majority of silver holders started viewing it as a speculative asset which is going to moon or go 500x or whatever it is they believe
everyone in these threads is holding silver because they believe it is going to dramatically go up in value.

if i told you right now gold and silver would stay exactly where they are and only appreciate in accordance with inflation, you would (barring sentimental reasons) immediately trade your silver for the equivalent amount of gold, because gold is easier to transport for the equivalent value

I would keep my silver, and buy more, for the same reason that I bought silver in the first place: silver coins are more practical currency if SHTF than any form of gold. The fact that silver is larger/heavier than gold by relative value is one of it's strengths for everyday uses. No one is going to go to the grocery store to buy rice and beans with gold.

Gold is only useful as a store of large quantities of wealth - the amount you need to trade real estate or similar purchases. For all daily needs silver is preferred.

Gold has always peaked in price against silver during recessions, which currently has happened, and during reflation the price of silver makes massive percentage gains vs gold. Central banks aren't loading up on silver because 1, they're reactionary. 2, silver isn't a reserve metal. 3, they don't even want to stack gold, at least in the west as its a vote of non confidence against their MMT ways. Not be the ACHSHULLY guy, but there was an interesting article recently about how Europe has been trying to combat dollar dominance since the 1970s by building up gold reserves in multiple nations, to the point of having gold rich national banks sell it off to gold poor ones. This would align with what geopolitical analysts are predicting for the coming decades: a multipolar world, where the lone superpower isn't interested in being a global hegemon anymore. This isn't even conspiracy tier, we have their stated reserve numbers, and we can see they were equalizing their holdings over European states so that a gold standard would be equitable for them. Even Japan (which wasn't buying much because its a sign of no confidence in daddy USA) has picked up their buying pace.

At this point if Knox is really empty and US banks hold little gold, its only because they have a different exit strategy from our current fiat.

I'm not sure if its that bleak, at least comparatively. We know Russia has been stockpiling, but it would have to be domestic production, since Russia has the GDP of Italy. China kicked around the idea of encouraging gold ownership by the plebs as a sort of decentralized fiat insurance, but given that vast swaths of the country are sub-Saharan tier, this has been limited. And while the government snaps up almost all the mining output, its China. They are known the world over as counterfeiters, and they would never submit to independent audits. They could roll out a gold backed digital RMB tomorrow and you couldn't pay people to trust that. Ultimately the X-factor in any money is trust.

The more I research this topic, the more I see the United States being ambivalent to holding any gold reserves, the more I start to believe in the government silver conspiracy where they've been stacking via banks since 2010. I thought it was bullshit, but if we knew that Europe was trying to set up a gold backed system in the 70s, and we knew Russia and China were working toward a gold backed system, it wouldn't make sense to compete with them at a several decade disadvantage. Why not use what we've got? And the new world has a LOT of silver.

And for what it's worth, Silver's strength and weakness is that it's both a industrial and precious metal. As the demand for precious metals increases, it's going to rise in value being dragged along by Gold. However, it will underperform until industry itself begins to ramp up whilst PM's demand is still high following the recession. At this point, we will indeed see a moonshot. This is why silver is such a high reward play; it has demand both from the precious metals sector and industrial sector. However, the two sectors need an intersecting moment for the moonshot to come, and for that to happen we're going to have to wait. Until then though, I'll enjoy the gains of being dragged along with gold. In the current monetary environment, demand for PM's is so high that I wouldn't be surprised at $35 silver before reflation even begins.

Anon, the one belt one road project is a colossal boondoggle. Its a giant make work project to build overland connections from China, through a bunch of -stan backwaters, into Turkey then Germany. It exists primarily as a dumping ground for all the concrete and steel that Chinese can't sell to anyone. Overland transport is 8x more expensive than shipping via boat.

There isn't going to be a cold war, because the only true global power is turning inward and will no longer uphold global shipping security. They only care about the anglosphere, Mexico, Japan, and maybe Poland going forward. China, Russia, and everyone else get to do what they used to do before Breton Woods: fight their neighbors for scraps. China imports a significant portion of their food and 85% of their energy. Almost all their oil is in tankers that must pass by nations that hate them, and they don't have the blue water navy to secure their own shipping. But the Japanese have the 2nd biggest blue water navy on earth. Combine this with their apocalyptic demographics the one-child policy, and we'll be learning no country names in 10 years.

If Russia goes gold standard, its only so they can interface with the continental European economies that can survive the loss of shipping security, such as France and Turkey. They aborted all their kids in the 90s, so they're running out of soldiers, and this era is probably the last hurrah for Russian military adventures for a while.

Its going to shit, but the US will be better off than most, along with Turkey, NZ, France, and maybe Argentina

Argentina is great for tourism because of their worthless currency. Hopefully I will return there soon.

Anyone buy the Silver Gold Bull 10 oz silver bars at spot? They limit 1 per household in the order. 193 a bar via wire or 203 paypal isnt bad. Anyone make multiple orders of 1 single bar to bypass the 1 per household? I assume they will cancel the second and so on orders, but maybe not?

The 'coin shortage' is bullshit, and really just a circulation disruption becaus ethe banks have kept their lobbies closed for months. Trade your overvalued copper, nickel and zinc for silver.

>> No.20514721

Pretty much. After QE1, Silver went from 8 dollars to 50 dollars in a couple years. Now we are on QE INFINITE with the whole world's central banks printing over any and all problems and implementing yield control on bonds and negative interest rates on bank deposits and bail-ins for failing banks and people are still like "Nah, I'll just wait for the dip to 14 dollars XD!"

The train to protecting any wealth you have is leaving the station.

Bro, you think we'll see a spot/futures inversion? Where the futures price gets artificially smacked down right as spot goes up? Can you imagine what that would do to the markets?

Well, in theory, the futures price is supposed to be what speculators think the price of (commodity) *will* be in the month/year that the contract is due. What happens to investor confidence if the *current* spot price *exceeds* what the futures market claims the price to be two months from now?

Backwardation has happened in the gold market a fair few times for extended periods of time, it usually just means people want to get out of fiat as soon as possible instead of waiting for delivery of a futures contract.

Honestly, the way things are going now, this could be the last time ever that the spot silver price is under 20 dollars. Anyone waiting for a dip is crazy imo. Imagine there is a wild fire heading for your home, you know it's definitely coming but insurance policies right now are a bit more expensive than usual, they could be cheaper next week but the fire could be here by tomorrow, you're not sure. Would you take the risk and wait?
