Again

Tesla - direct to consumer. Eventually will build to demand. No stockpiling. No middle man

Car companies - Stockpile model, local retail stores model. Man in the middle taking 6%.

Until car companies have a logistic and direct sales model they can't compete. Not even talking vehicles or EV or anything.

Tesla has a massive efficiency advantage in that direct sales system alone

You can buy an option and then sell it later if its premium goes up. There's a difference between buying and selling, and "writing". Writing options is where you effectively produce the contract, and somebody else pays you the premium straight away. Naturally, you have an obligation to them or the bearer if the strike price is hit. You can write call options while holding 100 shares, or you can write put options with enough money to purchase 100 shares of the underlying at the strike. Where you get into trouble is writing options without having the shares or the capital necessary to fulfill your obligation as the contract writer.

Search #longcovid on Twitter. Estimates are around 1 in 10 have persistent symptoms, but it could be more, could be less. In some instances cause could be reinfections, in others lingering infection and a syndrome similar to ME/CFS. Several friends of mine are in a similar or worse condition; all in their 30s and otherwise healthy before.

Reason to be hopeful: every scientist in the world is working on SARS2 problems right now. All the usual brakes on funding and regulatory barriers to innovation are being cast off. There are going to be breakthroughs. And I’m glad I learned some respect for it and some ways that seem to treat symptoms early; rather that than sleepwalk into the fall and winter where coinfections are going to make everything worse.

My general rule of thumb for earnings is to hold anything that is trending flat or down in the 2-3 weeks prior, and let go of anything that has run up hard.

Protip: Google and Facebook will blow away expectations and fly. MSFT and AAPL will probably be good for selling iron condors or strangles for that sexy high IV premium. TSLA is gonna get dunked on. By the time they seriously get up and running, their rivals like SpaceX and Blue Orgin will be able to send people to space hotels. There's no life left in suborbital tourism, it's like expecting people to spend tens of thousands of dollars for a vacation that last just a few minutes before being they are forced to go back home. The people who can afford to blow a million dollars on a short trip would be willing to spend a few more million and get to stay in space for a few days instead of minutes.

What are you talking about? Their warranty costs have nothing to do with their gross margin. The goodwill vs warranty TSLAQ argument is played out but you should be aware that EVs require less maintenance than ICE so they still have the advantage even if you want to cry about how they write their books.
>BEVs are not appreciably different from PHEV
Yes they are. Plugins don't need quality batteries and management systems.
>why are you talking about horses and carriages?
That's the best analogy. EVs are to ICE as the automobile was to horse drawn carriages. If it was simple to transition to EV production, the automakers wouldn't be having such trouble doing it.

>why the fuck wouldn't they?
Because it doesn't matter to them, they have actual engines and they can generate power from gas. The range of most PHEVs are still only around 50 km, that is nothing. A PHEV is just a ICE vehicle with a small battery and generator, a EV is completely designed around the battery and electric motors. Their drivetrains are completely different in most cases.
>no they aren't. the first EV predates the model T.
Technologically they are, your strawmanning what was invented first is almost as retarded as your original point. EVs have better performance, they're more efficient, they have a fraction of the amount of moving parts, they have way less maintenance, a much lower cost to operate and the list goes on.
>I don't have to hold a short position against tesla to hold any of these opinions
Yet you do, or you had in the past and got fucked by it. All your arguments have been refuted thousands of times before, you're just regurgitating shit you've heard but never actually researched. If you think EVs are inferior, this is the perfect time to short TSLA.

>engines last longer than huge batteries
Except they don't. The average EV battery will outlive the life of the car, slowly degrading but perfectly useful for anyone that doesn't need the max range of their car. There's already a lot of data on this via the Tesla fleet.
>the amount of moving parts argument doesn't matter so much if you can make an engine for very little
The amount of moving parts definitely matters as well as the added complexity of ICE that increases maintenance cost. It's not just the cost of the engine that matters either, it's the cost of the drivetrain as a whole, which is why PHEVs are the worst of both worlds and will never win. EVs are already close to par with ICE drivetrains and soon they'll be cheaper.
>battery management isn't nearly as complicated
Battery management and cooling is actually very complex and there's a lot of technology that goes into perfecting range/efficiency. EVs can't use waste heat from a engine either so they need a different heating and cooling system.
>tesla is going to wreck a lot of traders.
Are you brave enough to short it or not? So far TSLA has wrecked more short sellers than any stock in history. Go walk in front of it and see what happens.

>>20435107
This is outdated but easier to read than the updated graph that has been making rounds. The new batteries from Tesla and CATL are way better than this and battery is degradation is no longer a real problem. Tesla already" covers all battery capacity degradation in all its vehicles with a limit of 70% capacity for up to 8 years or 100,000 to 150,000 miles depending on the model". Obviously there are no 20 year old Tesla batteries but the data shows they are very likely to outlast the average car, which from the top of my head only lasts something like ten years before being scrapped.

It won't be the battery that takes them off the road. Even ICE vehicles are becoming more like cellphones in terms of technology and fixing electronic issues on old vehicles can be so expensive that you may as well scrap the car. The rate of technological advancement and how quickly systems like self driving and entertainment will become obsolete may steer people to robotaxis instead of vehicle ownership. Robotaxis already have a huge advantage for customer peace of mind, few people want the liability of owning a car if they don't need one. The lack of a driver means they can become cheaper than public transportation in some cases.
>>20435535
Tesla is a leader in batteries, but more important, the leader in battery management and all the systems that interact with it. It's not just the technology that matters either, unless you can start to produce your own batteries like Tesla you're going to be limited in terms of production. Already companies like VW are having trouble getting enough batteries for their cars despite relatively few EVs being produced. This issue will only get worse.

The conclusion I have come to is to mainly use them when I'm getting close to doing an exit. So I think things are getting to buy signal territory but they're not quite there just yet, I snuggle up stop loss but don't sell just yet. It's a slightly better percentage on backtest than using support based stop or fixed percentage, or no stop and wait until sell signal confirms itself. Not a huge difference overall in terms of a year's average return but it's an improvement.

And if you have the capital, look for cheap income property. Accept no higher than 10% off of list price.

The Model S Long Range Plus will have 400 miles of range, that beats the top model of the Ariya at 379 and the iX3 which is only 273 miles. Regardless, this isn't what you should be comparing but efficiency and cost per kWh to produce. Tesla's rivals are losing money on every car they produce and they are still more expensive for what you get. Of course you still find people buying other cars but they are objectively worse cars without access to the supercharger network or even over the air updates in some cases.
>Tesla basically has lost most market share entirely to Audi in northern Europe.
You mean Norway. Just the Model 3 sold 95,000 units in Europe in 2019, the E-Tron sold only 18,000. Tesla registrations are heavily dependent on when they deliver which why some months have zero registrations in certain European countries. Tesla doesn't even have their European factory online yet and any subsidy their competitors get will die out just like the federal EV subsidy in the US. The Norway Tesla sales are trash but there are only 5 million people in the country, you should be looking at places that actually matter like US and China. Tesla has been eating market share in China even against their cheaper rivals.

No, im in such desperation to have a win after the last few weeks im sitting on small profits of BKYI and NIO. Scared it will crash. Was out of day trades yesterday and was forced to watch BKYI drop from big win to small and now im curious as to what it will do today

Nice, I've just got into options myself because it was simpler to hold the underlying, but two days ago I bought a few 8/21 $15 puts. How long do I wait to sell these generally, I'm guessing they're more swing-y and i should cash out ASAP?

COVID testing is gambling at this point. It has become overly political. Also, testing is pretty much moot, because everyone has it anyway, and this will be common knowledge soon. This is already the second wave, so people have elevated immunity in a collective sense compared to January. I wouldn't touch COVID stuff now.
Now, GALT, on the other hand...
