Theta usually increases big time near expiration, delta is low because the option is more than 10 points OTM for a stock which can take a couple weeks to move 10 points. MSFT has never hit 220 before, and at this rate, it's not going to fucking happen by Friday. Most people today were maybe looking at 210c, and 212.5c or 215c if they were feeling brave, but 220 is virtually off the table at this point. Zero interest and zero point in trying.

What happens if for some reason AMZN reaches 3300 by EOW? The greeks should in theory get better because 3500 at 7/24 isnt "impossible" by then. Correct?

That consolidation and bankruptcy phase took nearly 4 years after 9/11. And that was a temporary acute pain. This has (and will continue) to last much, much longer. Airlines and cruise lines are boom and bust industries that are "late bull market". You actually need bankruptcies to happen so that fewer airlines can increase margins.
Why are there boomers and robinzoomers that are so stubborn with picking this trash?
Some of these airlines might even strategically declare bankruptcy to survive with debt restructuring that WOULD wipe out shareholders. And that is even before talking about share dilution (which AAL started) and international travel fuckery. I never see SKYW or MESA in their heads and these are most likely to recover first.

they are starting phase 3 this summer.
They are starting phase 3 of clinical development in less than a year.
like if they really want to rush a vaccine out, end of year is possible if they're OK approving an indication for a vaccine to be effective for 180 days or whatever they get to. Then either booster doses afterwards or just update the indication later on (like either with finishing phase 3 or with phase 4 monitoring)

like we've already skipped so many shit with clinical trials, I would not be surprised with more cutting corners like that. I mean we're not even done phase 1 are we?

With this whole corona thing you can make a nice profit off some biopharma companies, but they're really volatile, I sold VXRT today at $17.20 and within minutes it dropped back down to $16 or so, basically look for opportunities, eventually you will sort of get a gut feeling as to what to put money into I guess

maybe suburbs like Peterborough that are hours away from major city centers, but do you really expect Toronto to be hit my a real estate crash? Too many people here and it will always be at a premium. Real estate in Toronto has only gone up despite the pandemic. The two house listings in my area got a sold sign pretty fucking fast too and I'm in the outer suburbs around Toronto.

50% of RioCan's commercial assets are in Toronto. This is why I'm betting on RioCan over H&R or any other REIT. H&R is diversified into the US so I'm avoiding that shit. So far it's only been +10% up since May or something, it's been frustrating to see RioCan crab like this while my TSM just rallied so much, BUT now is finally the time for me to see some gains.

Adding to your position when it's cheaper is basically how to win.

Buy small. Even a fractional share. Set some limits to buy small amounts on the way down. If you're lucky, you'll get some stupid selloff, and when the order triggers you can decide yourself if you want to add to it or not.

Check out today, Dexcom hit the 1-month low this morning, before completely retracing the drop and add another 1.5%. But my dumbass forgot to set those limit buys, so I missed it completely.

Don't average down. It's "timing the market" under a different name. And it ties up increasing amounts of capital. If your entry thesis was wrong, then it is silly to think that your revised entry (or re-entry) thesis will more likely be correct.
Selling covered calls gives you premiums that reduce the cost you hold per share and a way out if the price spikes. You give up the "unlimited upside" but that is rare and its a ladder out of the hole.

i haven't looked into that deeply, but I can tell you that it's very hard to get approved for a mortage to buy a house. I'm sure it must be very hilarious to a Chinese national just buying a house in Vancouver so easily when the actual residents in Canada are so heavily scrutinized by the banks before they can get a house.

off the top of my head, it's something like 10%-20% down payment (though obviously there are ways to get around this, just don't tell you're the bank you are taking out a loan elsewhere to pay for the downpayment) and prob 2 years of steady employment or something. From what I remember from my friend, they were even advised not tell the bank that they were planning to rent out some rooms to friends right away (they don't like that apparently, i guess for good reason since people hoarding real estate for rental income are just as cancerous). Mind you, 20% downpayment is basically CAD$200K around Toronto

Do not trust dividend yield. Many companies have already cut or suspended dividends this year. Dividends are the first thing to go when a company is in trouble. GE cut its dividend from .30 to .01 a year or so ago. Oil companies have also cut or suspended dividends.
Also, tech will out perform divs even at 10% in the current market. Just compare QQQ to SPY or DIA. I think its insanely high, but ride it up, and be ready to ride it down. Profit is profit.

well duh, but that 10% div yield for the first year still sounds very nice. Granted the yields from DRIP contributions will probably only be 2.5%-5% by that time, but if your stock price has recovered that much, then you are definitely matching other growth equity shit with probably less risk (shit like real estate and utilities are probably not going anywhere anytime soon).
With something like a 2-year outlook, it's pretty enticing considering a lot of the valuations for a lot of these shit are still very battered.

Covered calls benefits from theta and the cost is holding the stock through earnings for the IV crush.
If you just buy calls, you pay for the theta and hope that the volatility increases enough to cancel out and hopefully a bit more. Holding through earnings is super risky because you could lose all your capital, so you would want to close before earnings.

Also you can do covered calls in retirement accounts, you can't buy calls in a retirement account.

sure, but I'm still very hopeful it will match the growth of my tech portion over time. Either way I don't wanna be too exposed to tech even if I am also bullish in it.

pic related, it's still paying full dividends right now (monthly) and it didn't cut dividends through the 08-09 recession either. Yes, the payout ratio is also reasonable at least for Q1. Q2 will probably be horrible, but shit is reopening for Q3 and leases are years long for office shit so those can stay working from home without affecting financials much so it ultimately won't matter for a 2 year outlook.

It took me a while (like over a year) to get a knack for selling covered calls, and you're not immune to mistakes. The nice thing though is mistakes are much less costly than other methods I have done. The key is don't be greedy. You don't need to chase 50%, 100% gains. I've managed to gain 30% in my retirement account in a month, and thats realized gains. Just buy 100 of something cheap and practice, even if you only sell calls for $1.

The best reason to hold dividend stocks is to have supplemental income, as in you will be withdrawing those dividends from your account. And secondly, if you want to lower risk. If you're holding long term, growth stocks will always win. Just compare charts of growth and dividend stocks over the same period. If you want dividends, it might be better to buy low/mid rated corporate bonds with a YTM 5% or greater.

Its when you buy a stock (in lots of 100) and then sell calls (the opposite of buying calls). So youd buy 100 of stock A at $15 each for $1500, then you would sell calls at strike price of 16 for $0.20, x100 for each stock, youd get $20. Then you wait for it to expire or you can buy it back, keeping the difference. Its also the lowest level of options trading at many brokers and can even be used in retirement accounts.

You sell OTM calls while holding the underlying shares (batches of 100). Learn the greeks but the premium you charge is based on current price, strike price, volatility, and time to expiration.
Best Case: Call expires worthless. You get a premium and you keep the shares
"Worst" Case: Call becomes in the money and you have to sell the shares on something that moved unexpectedly up but never at a loss if you are smart about it and you collected premium.
Unlike dividends, they ARE matched to the stock price so as the price moves up or down, the premium will as well, all else equal. Since premiums are higher with longer time to expiration you can match them to quarters near earnings and its basically a better divvy.
There are 2 tradeoffs, which aren't that bad. One is you give up the "infinite upside" of all long holds, which is not reasonable in practice. The second is that as part of a portfolio strategy it tends to leave your under performers over time in your portfolio. But in that second case, the divvy will almost certainly have been adjusted downward as well.

My mistake, but note specifically for antiviral drug that it says most are considered safe to take. This does imply that its easy for them to be dangerous, most likely for the reasons I referred to above. In any case, medication for viruses are much, much harder than ones for bacteria because of the hostage situation. It's kind of similar to cancer in a way.

I think nobody can really predict it until we face the reality this winter. If the second wave hits hard, the global economy will suffer a lot, so it could be more years than we expect. If for some reason the virus stops being dangerous, then maybe 1-2 years if all countries manage to reduce unemployment

indeed
but you are talking about an entire class of medications, of course some of them may be have questionable safety and wikipedia doesn't have an exhaustive list of every antiviral medication on the market in every country or coming to market, it would be irresponsible to say that all antivirals are safe to take.

I am hopeful for monoclonal antibodies, as in regeneron's REGN-COV2, which received a $450 million contract from BARDA

most antivirals are effective in the first two days of infection. They won't help in intensive care units and the side effects probably increase mortality.

buy Biontech, Moderna or Pfizer
>disruptive mRNA medication
>fast track from FDA for vaccines

Biontech has 4 potential vaccines and a strategic partnership with Pfizer. Pfizer is undervalued imo. they will profit and there is no chance of a PnD

Ok, and? Still going to help in instances where people suspect they might have come into contact with the virus, as in contact tracing, and for healthcare workers and other essential people.

>probably increase mortality
Based on what?

I'm talking about antibodies developed by a reputable largecap biotech company, the same one that developed effective treatments for ebola by the same means.

>PFE
maybe, CEO didn't sound as optimistic as the market's reaction. I think he's wise to be cautious, same with MRK's ceo.

pro-tip: because options prices are more tied to investor convictions and their value also drops more and more as the expiry date approaches, value of a monthly option will drop greatly after the previous month's options date is passed. In other words, Your Aug 21 call will be worth a bit less following this friday. If you're convinced that the stock(s) your calls are on will continue to rise, a safer but equally profitable strategy would be to sell the August calls before friday in order to buy a similar or slightly higher strike price call in Sept or Oct.
Additionally, once a call or put is ITM, the premium should increase at a linear rate; accordingly, once your options are 1 or 2 rungs ITM, it would be prudent to sell and buy ATM options to realize profits while minimizing loss in the event of a downturn.
