Hey guys, noob here

I am wondering what kind of stocks I should buy. Currently, I have $6k in an IRA, mostly in JNJ

I want to buy more on my brokerage account, but I don't know which stocks I should pick. Should I choose companies that are doing well and making money in this "work from home" remote environment? Im thinking stocks mainly like MSFT, DOCU, AMD, ADBE, AMZN, SHOP etc. The problem with these stocks is that they are all at all time highs and therefore risky to buy.

On the other hand I could buy stocks that are not performing well such as telecom, energy, oil, airlines REITs etc. that are not near all time highs, but aren't making as much money right now.

And then theres biotech stocks- like PFE ABBV GILD NVAX and MRNA and INO which are killing it now with vaccine anticipation. Where do I begin? Should I just buy 1/3rd of each kind?

Lol'd hard. You get banned for posting screenshots of a game that the publishers don't approve of. You get banned side-wide for 3 days (so that nobody will know the mod's dirty secret as you can't appeal for bans <=3 days) for saying nigger. Having the wrong anime opinion gets you banned. ID's and ID-likes everywhere. Captcha, which was supposed to be temporary, instead became 1000x more cancerous. 4chan passes, moot's jew scheme, never disappeared, and holiday events (sometimes) as well as one whole board are exclusive to pass holders now. Cancerous ads that spy on you, including malware and id pixels, as well as hiroshima modifying the 4chan scripts in an attempt to prevent the site from loading if you're blocking ads (did I mention said ads literally contained malware?).

Pew pew stocks are getting a wonderful boost from actual, perceived, and fear of more civil unrest. I'm not in that run on account of being busy with other stuff but it's a lovely move to watch anyway.

Speaking of other stuff, luxury fashion retailer Farfetch popped +13% today, presumably on analyst upgrades. They also leveraged their hordes of literal fanatics (because nobody sane remained) to raid and kill any board that attempted to serve as an alternative, preventing those from forming. Hotwheelz never did anything about this so people just left because what else was there to do? Discussion was absolutely impossible. Not to mention the fucking identity politics

And of course, forced IDs everywhere because nothing spells 'the content of the post, not the ID of the poster' like linking all the posts together and making sure the only reply anyone ever gets is a function of their post count and history in the current thread.
/pol/ on 8 was so fucking awful, anyone who said or suggested anything outside the exact narrative was literally banned instantly, then some literal eceleb would say something and every single sheep would instantly follow, no questions asked. Daring to mention that was also punishable by ban.

Old bonds are still good, it's the new bonds that are 0%. Conversely this increases the value of old bonds. They'll stay up until they start maturing, at which point they'll start becoming less and less valuable as they're replaced by newer, lower-returns bonds. >this is one of my first trades in close expiry options maby should have cashed out small profit

If SPY opens up tomorrow, and you're profitable, just sell. Consider it a lesson learned in playing weeklies, not having a back-out strategy, and risking more money than you were willing to lose.

Mentally prepare yourself to lose the whole thing, or to have to sell at a significant loss. Don't fall victim to the "maybe I should have..." line of thinking. It just sends you into an anxiety death spiral.

Earlier today I had to get out of a deal at a $50 loss. I actually felt great about it because I sold exactly when I said I was going to. The other day I had to sell some options at a $200 loss, and I tortured myself over it because I hadn't sold when I originally planned on doing so, and I paid the price.

TSM, ASMI, SOXX (SOXL if you are ballsy), etc.
how many companies do you think have efficient large scale production for 5 nm processes for example? And how many companies need those supplies? For example, Huawei is being royally fucked by the US right now until they can find a different supplier for the chips needed for their 5G smartphones because US basically told TSM they can't supply to shady Huawei anymore after August.

I would sell tomorrow. If we open above 316, I'd sell immediately (I have a personal rule about always selling my options if they're ITM). Otherwise, watch the first few candles and sell if they're red. You can be patient and try to gain a little if we open at like 315 and get a few green candles at open, but regardless of what happens, I want you to mentally prepare to lose the whole thing, or at least as much as you already have, unrealized.

I'm sorry, and I hope your loss isn't a significant detriment to your actual savings. Mainly I just want you to be emotionally prepared to take the loss. Tonight's going to be a rough one for you, and tomorrow rougher still if we have a rocky day.

Market is retarded, TSM had no reason to dip during March but it dipped hard anyways despite 2020 Q1 profits being almost double of 2019's.
buy decent picks in tech or semi and just forget about it for a couple years. They're back at ATH because their financials only continued to grow despite corona.

my point was that short-term, it's uncertain whether you will buy at the top and baghold for a while, but long-term, tech and semis are the future until something replaces silicon (e.g. if graphene becomes a thing or something, then it's another twist to the race for cutting edge)

Look, I've made impulsive plays without a backup before. It happens to the best of us, but whether you make it out of this one on top, let it serve as a lesson.

I've been doing more day trading than swing trading recently and the strategies are different, but even with swing trading I'd suggest you have an entry point, and a profitable exit or lossy exit. Sometimes if I'm up but I sense volatility or untenability at a certain level I'll sell early to lock in a little profit.
