But that wouldn't tell me something that hasn't moved very much today. So if a stock is relatively flat it won't show. For the longest time $PLUG never had a good day but then SOMEHOW someone found out they were about to become profitable and the very next day it spikes up by 5%+ a day for a week and a half straight. How did that first person even hear about plug in the first place? How did he know revenues were up?

It was pretty slow at first, all my investments are long hauls. But then I started investing in the recommendations off this board and it kinda just blew up in a way I didn't expect.
All I did was read Stocks for the Long Run and the Intelligent Investor.

Also, look into local companies, see what they're up too.
I'm deadset on this local exploration company because I've talked to them. I'm really confident in them.

Wildcatting exploration companies make me nervous. Unless they have some producing wells, you are going off of forward looking statements and basically their word on what they expect to produce.

I got burned by a small investment in a wildcatting exploration company back in 08/09 when I first started playing around with stocks. Luckily it only amounted to a couple hundred lost. The company, now defunct Storm Cat Energy, had overexposed themselves by financing a number of leases that weren't producing yet. This was back when oil was like 130/140ish if I remember correctly. Then the oil price crashed as a result of the recession. Storm Cat couldn't access credit any longer, so their leases went belly up, they filed for bankruptcy, and as a common stock holder, I got nothing.

That being said, HUSA looks like it isn't as spread out in its leases. Furthermore, according to their latest forward looking statement in January, they have a well in Louisiana that they said should produce a couple hundred barrels a day, and that they are waiting on the processing facility to be built before they commence pumping.

I'm considering investing in them this week but I want to give it a day or two to see if this is just a pump and dump or not.

There is no minimum amount of shares, at least not with Scottrade if that's who you are with. But really you aren't going to see real appreciation in your portfolio if you buy 70 shares on a penny stock. Remember you have to factor in commissions. If you bought with Scottrade for instance, which has $7 commisions, technically you would be making a profit if your stocks grew by $15 and you sold; $7 to buy, $7 to sell, $1 profit. But it would take you forever to trade that way.

Especially with sub $2 stocks you should wait until you have enough to buy 500 or more shares of whatever.

What do you think of Corning, Inc. (NYSE: GLW)? It had a bit of a pull-back today, falling 1.27% to 19.39. But I think at these prices it's a steal of a deal. One of the major analysts had recently upgraded its price target to $24.00 per share, so I'd imagine it's a pretty safe bet for steady growth over the next 30 or so days.
