No my parents dont say that. They actually had it hard. They do think I could do better but they only think that because MSM says a degree is all you need which pretty much brainwashed many people including children. They seem more aware a degree isn't as profitable as it was sold off as. Not even a kid anymore either this stuff just pisses me off and I'm late 20's at that. I basically am trying to financially succeed off of 3 ideas at this point. Only working on 2 of the 3 at this point. Obviously stocks is one since I'm here. Up about 20k since I started last year, would be better off if I sold a winner rather than holding it recently. Enough that I wouldnt have to fume about this stuff for half a decade of neetdom.

>beating earnings = stock drop
almost always true for stocks that are up big or rallied hard into earnings. That's an indication that investors have very high expectations. Expectations are very important. It's very hard to surprise to the upside when expectations are high.

Because of that, a lot of stocks reliably dip right after earnings. Lots of semiconductors like AMD, and other hot stocks like LULU do this.

>>20062948

Tesla cannot fight entropy. Eventually they will have to axe the service contracts because the overhead will be too massive to cover with new sales and/or also have to figure out what to do about used vehicles.
The realities of being a car company have little to do with being an electric or ICE. It is pure tulip mania with EV companies and Tesla is leading the pack.

Some high dividend stocks have high dividends because they have crashed hard also consequently have a high potential upside and therefore over the next year they MAY outperform growth stocks. Why is it so hard to understand for smoothbrains that this isn't a normal market?

Tesla has high overhead because they use most of their money to expand their business and build more factories, their gross margins for new cars is actually much higher than their competitors and top of this they are able to sell software and performance updates over the air for extremely high margins. There is no problem with used vehicles, they have the highest resale value of any major automaker and their batteries will be able to be used for energy storage after the life of the car.

>Tesla has high overhead because they use most of their money to expand their business and build more factories, their gross margins for new cars is actually much higher than their competitors and top of this they are able to sell software and performance updates over the air for extremely high margins.
I don't care about Tesla'a current use of " " " profits " " ". The components of a car break down over time. ICE's don't handle the maintenance component because it quickly outpaces the value of the car. Tesla memes about "teslas being appreciating assets" which defies all physics or is really a sleight of hand about their repair service. That is a losing game. It cannot scale especially as the vehicles get older. Forget about the fucking batteries
> There is no problem with used vehicles
Again nothing about it scales. Will Tesla's service warranties persist to secondary buyers? If not, that will eat at the resale value and require lower initial listing prices for new buyers to recoup value. If they do, that eats into the demand for newer vehicles almost immediately. Cash for (ICE) clunkers was deliberately to prevent this massive crush on demand for new vehicles during the GFC. Elon could trash new vehicles, which effectively destroys the used vehicle problem entirely but then the service is literally the only selling point of the cars.
This is basic economics of ANY transportation vehicle. The power source doesn't fucking matter. It could be magic faeries that provide infinite energy for all it matters. The problem is the brakes, the gearshift, the electrical wiring, the lamps, the panels, etc. This isn't about MUH OIL v. MUH MEME BATTERIES. This is about basic physical laws.

>The components of a car break down over time
Electric vehicles have a fraction of the amount of service and maintenance as ICE vehicles. There are almost no moving parts and the drivetrain is sealed from the factory. Even the brakes have a fraction of the amount of wear and tear because regenerative braking does most of the work instead of the pads. Your point about ICE maintenance doesn't even make any sense, you have to maintain them to retain value. EVs can be worked on by most shops but Tesla prefers to do it themselves to ensure a better customer experience and they do it at lower cost so you actually save money compared to a conventional dealership model. The need for Tesla to receive service doesn't mean that the company cannot be profitable, service is actually the largest percentage of income for dealership.
>"teslas being appreciating assets"
They will be if full self driving becomes available. At that point only a fraction of the amount of cars on the road would have the ability and they'll uncut all existing ride share services. Before more cars hit the road, it's like getting paid as a taxi driver but you're not doing any driving, which is why the cars become more valuable. Labor is the highest cost for taxis, it's greater than 2/3 of the fare you pay.
> If not, that will eat at the resale value
That happens with every vehicle. Cars still under warranty are worth more than cars that are not.

I don't want to offend you but I'm really struggling to see your point and I'm wondering if you have schizophrenia.

Most of the service items on Tesla are expensive but relatively simple fixes that can be done without bringing a car to a service facility, that is yet another way that they are revolutionizing the industry. As someone who has worked on cars most of my adult life, I can tell you flat out that electric vehicles are inherently more reliable and there's fewer things to service.
>axed pushing for trucking
They didn't axe their semi, they delayed it because for each semi battery you could make batteries for multiple cars and they decided going that route would be more profitable until they spin up their battery production.
>experimenting with cameras and lidar.
They experiment with a bunch of technology they never use, the fact is that cameras eliminate the need for Lidar because they can use them to create a 3D map of the world around them that is actually in color so their AI can differentiate between something like a garbage bag on the road and the unknown blob that would show with Lidar. On top of the cameras, Tesla's have radar and ultrasonic sensors. Numerous people in the industry who don't work for Tesla have come out and said that Lidar isn't necessary.
>valued as anything but a battery or car company.
It's not just a car company, it's a bunch of technology start-ups rolled into one and a energy company. It's valued as a tech company because that is part of their business model, selling software and updates over the air and getting people to pay thousands of dollars more for an improved experience.
>valued more than Toyota despite having literally 3% of the vehicles
That isn't a relevant metric. The only thing that matters is who produces more electric vehicles because they are the future. Trying to compare ICE production to EV production is like trying to compare a horse and buggy company to a automobile company. They are also valued higher than other automakers because those automakers are going to have to spin down their ICE production while spinning up EV production while having declining revenue because the profit margins on EVs is smaller for them. Once autonomous vehicles get here, it's over for them because car ownership will rapidly decline and the company that can make the most autonomous vehicles and add them to their ride share fleet will take most of the trillion dollar market that robotaxis will become.
>Yes it is
What other car company is a leader in US solar installs and provides global grid wide energy storage solutions that replace some types of power plants? You don't seem to understand that they go hand in hand, Tesla used the economies of scale of EV battery production to create a whole new industry of cheap energy storage. Solar plus energy storage is going to soon be on par with all other forms of energy production, this wasn't feasible ten years ago because the battery costs were too high.
> It contracts out the innovation for its cars.
Bullshit, Tesla does nearly everything in house. They've bought a few companies to integrate but nothing is contracted out beyond cell production and basic auto parts which is standard in the industry.

If you're brave, just short Tesla and see how well it works out for it. Otherwise everything you say is meaningless and in ten years from now you're going to try to forget that you ever thought Tesla was the new Tulip Mania. I don't care because it's not like you're going to change anything but it's annoying to see so much 'I HAVE AN OPINION' shitposting surrounding this.

Just so you know, Elon quietly euthanized the solar roofs project about 2 weeks ago. This news was deliberately buried with the SpaceX launch. He is refunding deposits. The forever warranty on existing roofs has been downgraded to 20 years which is both less than the lifetime of the panels and less than the time to "make the money back" with electricity generation.
>Bullshit, Tesla does nearly everything in house. They've bought a few companies to integrate

>need to Balkanize
Do you not understand how lazy and brainwashed we are? Even here where we’re supposed to have “redpilled” thinkers that question the system, everyone either thinks everything is because of the Parenthetical People, or that the Democrats are blah blah blah the media gonna crash the economy because the elites would destroy their own economy to get fucking Biden in office.

We’re not going to Balkanize beyond the current state of affairs, and that would be a shit outcome. It would be a colassal fuckup that would create two seperate markets, and all of our “trading allies” would be able to basically put us against each-other In a race to the bottom for our export prices. It would be a disaster worse than Brexit.

I would say the odds are slightly higher that the people in charge fuck things up so badly that the people actually realize the two party system is a lie. But I’d still give that a less than 1% chance of happening.
